I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My wife was a resident here, I constantly had troubles with information. Either not getting it or other healthcare facilities not receiving needed information. There are some people that care, there are lots that don't. Also shortly after my wife had passed, we made arrangements that the "care" facility was in contact with the funeral home. When my wife's parents would be able to visit they would notify the funeral home to release her remains. They ended up calling me multiple times, even while I was on the phone with the funeral home, demanding that they come and retrieve them now after I had already made the arrangements with staff and before my mother in law was able to visit. Please avoid this place if you can for your loved ones or yourself.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was a resident here for the longest 10 weeks of my life!! The hands on care is sub-standard, nursing care is unprofessional, the rehabilitation department is useless, and the food is disgusting. I did not receive a shower my entire stay!! I was often left in my own waste for hours. In the year since I left, I’m thriving. Amazing what proper diet, great physical therapy, and proper hygiene can do towards recovery. Please if your considering placing a loved one here, DON’T l beg of you!!!!!!!!!!!

Every time I talk to my friend it is one horror story after another. Short staffed always. There are no activities to do so she stays in her room all day. The food is gross from what she tells me. Don't put your loved one here.

Put a fork in me because I'm done

Every time I talk to my friend who is at Northern Manor it's another horror story. The food is horrible. Sometimes she remains in a diaper for hours before she gets changed. I can't wait for her to get out of there. They are short staffed. Hope she can get out of there soon.

I am/was a resident of this facility

The rooms at Northern Manor are large and very clean. The staff were very attentive to my wounds and kept my family up to date on my care. I really enjoyed the GO Program amenities and the Netflix. I would recommend sending your family here! They got me home quickly

The staff at Northern Manor is excellent. Very attentive and committed to taking care of my loved one. The administrator was very responsive and the concierge Charlie was exceptional. The rooms are spacious and clean and my loved one really enjoyed the food. The recreation department made sure my loved one was busy with activities. The care was excellent. 5 out of 5 stars.

my father was there for 6 months before he passed. The place is bad. They were always short staffing, administration seemed to be problem. The Nurses for the most part were ok. some the Nurse's Aids weren't too nice. We had to stay on top of everything by constantly advocating for my father. in 3 separate occasions, some of his clothes had disappear. Although we reported it, we were told they would look into it. if Northern Manor is the only option for your love one, i understand and i am sorry, otherwise look somewhere else.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I am the friend of a current resident of Northern Manor. I don't live nearby so we only talk on the phone. Each time we talk it is a new horror story. One morning, she didn't get her food even though the food service manager said that all meals were served. Later a worker grumpily brought her food. She has been left in a chair all night without any check as to her well being. It takes an hour or more to get assistance, when given any at all. I do not recommend this place at all. It should be shut down. The parent company should be ashamed to have a facility like this. Do not subject your loved ones to this place.

While I lived nearby, I took care of my mom’s laundry but now that I live two states away, I had to let the facility handle it. Clothing disappears, terrible clothing that isn’t my mom’s and that doesn’t fit shows up. My mom keeps falling because when she needs bathroom assistance and rings the bell for over an hour, no one comes, so she tries to get up on her own. If someone does answer the bell, she is told to do it in her diaper or the aide will tell her “not now.” Her toothpaste was left open in the same drawer as her hairbrush, so the opening of the tube was covered with hair. Disgusting. Wishing I could move her but unrelated circumstances are preventing that at the moment. The food is consistently unappetizing and always cold. Once when she asked to have her feet covered with a blanket, she was told that it wasn’t cold and the aide just walked out. What sort of attitude is that? Yes, there are a couple of nice staff members who can be helpful, but in general the staff people clearly don’t give a damn.

Where do I begin? During the day, there was no evidence that "aides" exist at this place! When the night shift came on, the "aides" walked around visiting and speaking a foreign language loudly (not to be named for fear of retaliation) and laughing it up. When I asked for help for personal care for my family member, they were shocked that the person needed to be changed and cleaned! I got plenty of glares behind their surgical masked. When I continued to speak up as my family member's advocate, I was continually told that I "need to relax and trust in God"! I have to mention that during the day, when the administrator(s) were there, everyone was cheery and really polite, to the point of offering hugs! In the evening and night, it is a totally different story. One can really be FOOLED when first coming in with a family member. The "aides" are lazy, rude, argumentative, arrogant, contemptuous and so confident in their job security that this family member was treated as though I was a "pain" to them when acting in the role of the patient's advocate! Asking for a simple item like an additional blanket or a clean pilllowcase is a crisis to them. (Oh my goodness, they are actually expected to do some work!) They look at the piece of bedding and they, the "aides", want to decide if is clean or not! And then, they argue with you that it's not really dirty, and to them it is clean!!! The "aides" rule this nest - no matter what the administrator thinks is going on. The nurses have 17 patients each, at a minimal. Medications are late because of the workload and that is what you hear from the nurses when you ask them a question or need something for your family member! I heard more complaints from the nurses in one day than you can imagine about their heavy workloads. The doctors phone in orders. Yet to see a doctor. Every single question I asked at the Nurse's Station was met with a stare and a glare, a rattled off answer that was difficult to understand, for several reasons that cannot be mentioned without fear of being labeled a racially biased person, etc. The administrators tell you on admission that they welcome family members....the nurses and aides DO NOT. And they make it clear to you in their attitudes. The staff has no interest in anything other than than doing things in their own sweet time, whenever that is during their shift, especially the night shift. Think and re-think your options about placing your family member in this institution. Do not be fooled by the "shiny floors" and the convenient and close location in the community....look beyond the physical appearance of the place and ask questions about actual hands on care. Don't be intimidated. We have rights as family members and patient advocates! IT IS THE LAW!!! I am protesting that I have to give this place 1 star. The option to not give a star is not available.

I think overall it was not a great experience at Northern Manor. Some of them were wonderful, and some of the aides were awful to the point of being nasty and rude to my parents. The nursing were better than the aides. The doctor was virtually non-existent, but we were told he would come in once a week, and he did not. I don’t recommend it based on my personal experience. It was sad and heartbreaking. Sometimes, I felt like If we left, my dad would be at the mercy of I don’t know who, and it wasn’t good enough. My dad’s room was OK. The hall smells like urine. My mom went out of the way to be kind to them, but they didn’t change.
