Nurses are good with patient but as soon as insurance says they arent going to cover my father was told ambulance would be there to pick him up. He called and told me. No communication. Meanwhile he is no better then when he went in after open heart surgery for 4 blockages. We have a reconsideration claim in with insurance so they had no right to upset him with a ambulance is picking him up in 4 hours to bring him home. Business side is absolutely horrible and they lost his SHOES. I have never heard of such a thing. Horrible!!!

There is a reason any respecting nurse calls this place "Care None". I was discharged from Morristown Hospital to come here to increase my mobility and strength after an illness. I am an educated woman with complete mental facilities. The call button in my room didn't work and didn't for over a week. When i needed help in the bathroom the first night, I was in severe pain and the attendant/nurse yelled at me to be quiet. The bathroom had rusty toilets and a nail sticking up on the wooden bench in the shower. When I asked what medication I was handed I was told to just take it. I had to ask someone to help me out of bed and when they finally came in they looked at me and I had to give instructions and they were rough and didn't care. Food was awful. I heard a poor woman in another room yell non-stop for hours "help me." I got so sick being there I got pneumonia and had to ask to get an ambulance back to Morristown Hospital which did happen at 4 in the morning. I went from the Emergency Room right to the ICU where my lung capacity was only 40%, my kidneys were failing and had congestive heart failure (I had no issues with my heart or kidneys before this). I was in a coma for 6 days. This place is beyond horrible and needs a complete over hall. Only people that cared were the Physical Therapists, but I only saw them for a short period of time everyday. Unfortunately, I am sure this facility handles Medicare patient and those with dementia as this is the best they care afford. In addition to calling this place "Care None" I came up with "the place you send Grandma to die."

I am a relative of a past Care One Rehabilitation resident and a friend of a present Care One resident. I visited Care One nearly every day for the 30 days my relative was there because of having to oversee her care. My relative experienced having her medication wrongly administered. At least twice, a nurse administered double the dose of medication to my relative and on other occasions, her medication was skipped. I had to take food there because my relative missed meals as no one checked to see whether anyone came to help her to the dining area and the kitchen did not deliver the meals assuming that my relative had gone to the dining area for meals. I put up a sign that family will do laundry, yet some of my relative's clothes became faded, damaged and unaccounted for. The volume of noise in the hallways and at the nurses’ station was consistently disturbing, even for me as a visitor speaking with my relative via telephone in the evenings after my visits. Our family contacted the administration about these issues, but was met with nothing short of condescension and apathy. Presently, I am disappointed that I have a friend who chose to go to Care One for rehabilitation. According to my friend, the food is inedible for the most part (turkey pudding?), and the kitchen manager hangs up on her when she doesn't speak quickly enough to make her order. At my most recent visit, I observed a physical therapist loud talk and summarily dismiss and publicly embarrass my friend who simply asked for a pair of gloves. My friend and I were both glad I was there to advocate for her. The other day, I called to check on my friend and for a while, no one would answer the phone, no operator, no lobby attendant and no one at the nurses' station. I had to call another floor to get someone on the line at the nurses' station on my friend's floor. The person answering the phone was dismissive, rude and obnoxious. She refused to transfer my call to my friend's room, suggesting that I take her word that my friend was okay. Refusing to give her name, she hung up the phone without allowing me to get in touch with my friend. I called the director of nursing for intervention and had to leave a voicemail message, which was neither answered nor acknowledged. From personal experience with having a family member and currently a friend residing at Care One, 151 Madison Ave, Morristown, NJ, I can say from my loved ones' feedback and my personal observation that neither of my loved ones appeared to be genuinely cared for to any degree. I observed Care One employees blatantly disrespecting my relative and my friend by speaking to them harshly, dismissively and in a manner completely void of compassion or empathy or care. I observed my relative and presently my friend being treated like mere means to an end, impositions and annoyances at best. Hopefully, I will have some say should anyone I care about consider Care One in the future.

Right now, I'm in CareOne at Madison Avenue. I'm here for wound care. I've been here about two-and-a-half weeks now. It was the only place that offered everything. I don't really know about the place itself; all I know is my room. I come in on a stretcher, I leave on a stretcher to go to dialysis, and I come back on a stretcher, and that's it. The food is good, but it's monotonous. You know what you're going to get the next day by what you had the day before because whatever is left over, they go up into the next meal. The staff members are all very nice. It's a small staff. You get the same people every day, so that's good. I don't know about the cleanliness of the facility, but it looked nice. The front room that I come into looked very nice and they're right here twice a day cleaning it. I don't know about the value for money because I'm not getting any bills. I'm using Medicare and lots of things.

Think twice before sending. While some of the staff is professional and helpful, the NIGHT STAFF is awful. Asking our loved one to wear depends because they were ringing for the aides at night to get help going to the bathroom?!?! Why would you feed a high blood pressure patient salt filled food at every meal? Our loved one broke out in a salt rash, been salt free for 12 years?!?!? How come you give NO STRAWS with the drinks on the food tray?? We had to bring in our own straws. Aides were not friendly, slamming the door while we were visiting. Sheets on bed were changed 1 time in 24 days. This is a FACT because we saw a stain on them, the same stain every time we visited. Male nurse at night told our loved one to BE QUIET when they were trying to explain how they needed BP medicine. Asked if this Male NURSE could call the Doctor and he said, "It's too late to bother the Doctors!?!?!?!" They did more damage to her foot, wish I took photos. Promised us visiting nurses would call when we got home, NOBODY CALLED !!!!!!! Do not go here!!!!!

I can see why this facility is called “Care None” by many people. We had to pull my mom out of there as we were seriously concerned that she wouldn’t survive her stay there. There’s not even enough room in this review for me to write about all the grievances we have against them but the few I will mention is how my mother was made to sit for over an hour at a time in her own feces and urine on a bed pan bc the nurses refused to come. Knowing full well she already had a bed sore they would look at her as she was calling and keep on walking down the hall. They exposed her entire floor to covid from a nurse without alerting the patients or our family. Hence my mom was diagnosed with covid shortly thereafter. They kept telling me they they were keeping an eye on her oxygen saturation level but after they found her lying on the floor in her room one day (when they should have been watching her) they sent her to the hospital bc they figured that by the way she was lying she must have hit her head. These were the exact words of the charge nurse who called me. They had no idea what happened or how it happened. Upon arrival at the hospital they discovered that her oxygen saturation was low and she had two different types of pneumonia. So much for Care None taking care of my mother. By the way, I was told by both the hospital and CareOne that they do not accept covid patients at the Madison Avenue facility and that the Covid patients go to Hanover, NJ. Don’t believe them. They lie. Once they had the outbreak of Covid here this past January, they kept all of them and the building administrator told me that they will “try” to ensure that a separate staff works on the Covid patients and not touch the other patients. How nice of them to “try.” It is a state rule that no personnel should mix when taking care of Covid patients. They repeatedly fed my mom food she was allergic to also knowing full well her list of allergies causing her an allergic reaction one day and then trying to deny they caused it. They ignored her health status and did not run labs on her letting her get further and further away from where she needed to be. It wasn’t until I screamed and brought my own dr in that they finally ran labs on her and discovered what I had known all along just by hearing her talk. We also have an open investigation on one of the workers who took care of my mother. I can go on and on but my point is DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONE HERE!!!! My mom is in a great facility now who really cares about their patients. Thank God we got her out of Care None in time!

My grandfather was at CareOne at Madison for their COPD program. Their respiratory staff were amazing. Nursing was really experienced in managing my grandpa's difficulty breathing. My uncle is a physician and he was impressed on how the staff here handled his situation after hospitalization!
