We were not pleased when my relative first came in . The nurse (Agency) didn’t know anything , didn’t respond to our concerns , had to ask to give shower . Seemed like they were always grouped up at desk eating . Then was moved to Ivy House for memory care . The staff there is awesome . Very caring . Nurse Marlo very informative and caring . Nurse aids very good also . Rooms are clean and don’t smell like some halls did . Concerns were addressed quickly . Facility could use some updates with furniture in sitting areas .

The nursing staff at NHC Healthcare, Maryland Heights is very attentive to my dad's needs. He's not an easy patient but they are very helpful, patient, and kind to him. They're very prompt with their care, which I appreciate a lot. They seem to pay close attention to differences in his demeanor too. They called 911 as soon as they saw that he was not acting correctly, which led to him being admitted to the hospital. If they hadn't been paying so much attention to detail, it could have been a real tragedy. The quality of care is just very good there. His room is very clean and they make the necessary safety precautions. My dad has a roommate and there's a lot of people there with roommates. They try to pair the people that have common issues that would be good together in a room. It might not be like the fancy places that have all the fine dining and all the ice cream bars and happy hours, but it's got a homey feel to it. Everybody seems to be engaged in making sure that people seem somewhat happy there. They try to get the residents engaged in things. They also have a little barnyard with a little horse, some chickens that run right up to you, and it's just really neat. They have birds inside for the residents to kind of look at too so it's got every aspect of different things for people to see and would be interested in.

My mother is in NHC Healthcare Maryland Heights. It's a skilled nursing facility and she's in the memory care unit. We've been impressed with the staff, their responsiveness and they contact us. They also have a doctor on staff there. We also like the fact that they separate their memory care into two different units. The people that are very far along are separate from the others that are more mobile and more functional. They take their memory care patients and they separate them even more. They seem to have a lot of activities. The one time I was there, they were having Christmas in July, yesterday, they had their 50th anniversary celebration and another time I was there, they had a person playing the piano and singing. They have a fair amount of activities for them. I haven't tried the food, but she likes it. They say she's eating well and the times that I've been there when she was eating, she finished most of her food. She is a Medicaid case, so they basically take all her money that she makes from Social Security every month and leave her with $50.

We chose NHC Healthcare Maryland Heights for my mother because the reviews were very nice. They either had really good or really bad ratings, and it seemed like most of the bad ones are just people that were kind of upset. I went in there last Friday evening, and they were having a happy hour. They had a little five-piece old man band playing, and my mom was sitting there waving her hand, just having a good time. The staff has been really good. It seems as the groups of people are not separated. They were hanging out together and doing things together. You don't see anybody sitting by themselves. The staff seems to be pretty good, and I'm pretty happy with the decision. The staff seems pretty knowledgeable. She has no problem eating, and she's looking healthy. They're in the middle of construction right now, so there's a certain part is that's kind of out of touch a little bit because of that. The rest of the place seems clean, and up to par.

HOPE MANY WILL READ THESE REVIEWS AND STAY AWAY!!! Our 99 year old Gma went in NOT sick but the DR's couldn't figure out why she was losing her balance! She stayed only 5 days when family went and got her.. she had major bed sores and a bruise from hip to hip from "falling out a chair" that no one told us about.. she was put in a room with NO PHONE NO TV NO WINDOW and we were told she could not receive visitors IN her room!! Once we got her home she died 5 days later!! The mortician told us family it was the worst case of sores and septic he had EVER seen.. coming from a man 25 yrs in the business.. WE ARE BEYOND DISGUSTED THE LACK OF CARE SHE RECEIVED.. and lawyers have already been called!!! THEY NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN!!!

Administered WRONG meds causing low glucose levels with staff running into my room with glasses of orange juice. My roommate threatened to call the police because staff would not answer her call button for an hour and a half !! She had just been admitted and called family to take her home. Two medications were not given to me and was told no doctor on duty all weekend and I would have to do without. Violation of HIPPA act with "Alma" asking personal medical questions to my roommate in my presence. Checked my self out after 2 days and Alma was very nasty. Worst nursing home I have ever seen and was my first time as a patient in a nursing facility.
