I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom is at Liberty Village of Marion in Parkway Manor Skilled Nursing. She has been there for six weeks now. They're helping her with physical therapy, bathing, getting dressed, they're cooking their meals, and doing laundry. When it turned cold before I got down there to bring her some warmer clothes, they provided her with a lot of clothes. Residents may have their own cell phones in the room. They have wheelchairs and they have a doctor coming in once a week. They have arts and crafts and bingo activities. A lady comes in and gets their nails done and paints them if they want. All the residents say they like the food there. I was there with my mom for lunch a couple of times, and they had good stuff. She had lasagna, broccoli, and bread roll. Another person didn't want that, and they made her a salad with eggs, ham, lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers. They looked good. Some older people were eating cheeseburgers and hot dogs. They could choose food; it's not just handed to them. They have a little menu. They have snacks, coffee, and water. When I visited my mom who was sitting with some of the other residents, some of the skilled workers sat at tables and talked with them.

I visited this facility

I have been to Liberty Village, and I really like them. They have a step-down unit. I thought the place was beautiful, and very clean. It was obvious that they take extreme measures to keep it clean. The staff said, "We don't just cover up odors with sprayers and cleansers if we need to. We do whatever we have to do to keep it clean." They have a bounce back program there. If they need physical therapy, they can do that. They have a lot of activities. They can have dinner or meals in their own apartment, or they can join the community area, and there's no set time. They don't all show up at a certain time, they can eat anytime between 10:00 and noon for lunch, and they order off a menu. It's not like everybody eats the same thing, I like that. They have a lot of activity. I just thought it was very nice. The staff who gave me the tour, she just seemed very caring, and I felt at ease talking to her. I felt they were people of integrity. I did not try their food, but it did looks very good. They have a little aviary in the middle of the dining area with birds flying. It looks more like a restaurant than a traditional nursing home cafeteria. The apartments are spacious. It has lots of natural sunlight. You can bring your own furniture. They look lovely, and they have all of the safety measures that you would want in terms of pull cords in every room, and handrails. That was reassuring. The facility is very well-maintained, easy to get around, and close to where I live.

I visited this facility

The staff at Bounce Back Rehabilitation Liberty Village of Marion was very accommodating in answering my questions about the services they provide. It was a huge therapy center with lots of options to help rehabilitate a leg and knee. So I think very highly of that place. I like to visit places without an appointment so I can go in and see how their daily activities are, and randomly ask people that are there how they like it. So I would recommend this place for rehab. They provide therapy and rehabilitation, PT and OT.

I visited this facility

I had a horrible experience with parkway manor my dad was sent there last week he is terminal my mom and dad are divorced but went with him from Hospitol to register because I had to work we had to get a new power of attorney made so I could be it since my mom could no longer do it. I thought they new he was terminal apparently not when they found out they proceeded to give us the run around. They wanted him home. The social worker there said he can't Rehab we can give him comfort care for a week and than its 160 dollars a day for him to stay. She told me my mom signed papers to pay this when he checked in I told her she never would have agreed to that she called the department that handles it and they couldn't find paper but she said my mom signed it I told her my mom would call her attorney. Because she's not responsible for Bill there divorced 10 min later Donna a different head calls me in her office wanting me to resign these papers saying my mom was confused they never put her down as being responsible I said well call the social worker in here and ask why she told us both that Donna says she's on the phone or out of her office I can't reach her now (naturally) so than we decided to do the weeks comfort care until we could figure out what to do with my dad as soon as I leave to go back to work I get a call from park way saying they sent him back to Hospitol . my dad has terminal cancer and a frozen abdomen he is throwing up mon stop he can't eat or drink is starving to death slowly no surgery can be done he has a colosomy bag to change he is basically starving to death this facility was so cold and heartless told me to take him home on hospice and quit my job to care for him the social worker said I did it with my dad you can to wiylth me telling them quoting was not an option for me what it boiled down to was money my dad makes to much for Medicaid but not enough to pay 160 a day this facility had me so confused and in tears 3 different times I got my dad in a cheaper facility now and they are a lot kinder and lol even more modern parkway had my dad in a room with two beds one was broke and the other had an old fashion crank handle like an old model t Ford to raise bed up and down also two days after my dad left there I went back to get his stuff and there is a puke pan with puke in it still sitting on table in his room that is very unsanitary I will never recommend this place to anyone they are so cold hearted.

I was impressed of how clean it was. The food served was really good looking and very generous servings. My relative did say that people did not come to help her very fast and she was cold a lot.

I visited this facility

The facility was very nice compared to others that I had seen. They offered many amenities to the residents such as recreational activities, personalized religious services, and a hair and beauty salon. The staff there was very caring and put my mind at ease. They made me feel like my grandmother was in good hands. They also created a very warm atmosphere for the residents to attempt to make a more "home like" environment.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

The facilities seemed pretty good. The staff were mostly friendly and professional though it seemed a little understaffed. The residents always seemed to be waiting on someone to attend to their needs. The activities provided were not the most interesting, but they were ok. It always seemed overly hot inside the buildings. Even in the summer, they would have the heat cranked. I assume this is meant to help those bedridden or with poor circulation, but it made visiting uncomfortable. As a visitor, I always felt like there was no room for more than one person visiting a resident at a time. When I visited my relative with my family we seemed to take up the whole room and we had nowhere to sit. There were no good places for visiting. The food seemed terrible and the general plan for getting meals was poor. Residents would have to wait in lines for over an hour before all meals.

I stayed here

Grandpa and Grandma both stayed at Parkway Manor for skilled nursing care and rehabilitation following periods of acute illness in the hospital. The staff was kind and concerned at all turns. Grandpa participated in the agressive physicial rehabilitation program and returned to home, even better than when he went into the program. Grandma was taught by the nursing staff to care for her new colostomy. I love this place, no smell, elegant surroundings and the best staff..............
