I am a friend or relative of a resident
The building was older and seemed as if the upkeep was on auto pilot. We could not place the strange smells often times, but they were everywhere. The halls smelled, the bathrooms smelled, even the dietary department smelled. The nurses were often cordial but looked strained and over worked. The administration was polished, professional and clinical. They seemed to distance themselves from the individual much like doctors do. The room itself was more like a hospital bed than anything else, though I suppose that was necessary in order to have the care necessary for a variety of issues. There seemed to be a variety of needs from the patients representative at the facility, from dimensia, paralyzation, rehabilitating illnesses and mental illnesses. This mixture produced a level of concern for our family as there was often outbursts, public displays of indecency and just a level of fear from some residents.

I visited this facility
This facility is a beautiful facility, in an old Civil War-era mansion. There are ample ground. I visited there several times as a volunteer. The facilities are relatively clean but when I was there the smell was terrible. I know many people are sick and dying, and that's the purpose of such a home but it was different from the clean, antiseptic hospital smell I am used too. The staff is good but they appear to be overwhelmed. They are very, very busy. As a volunteer, you see the loneliness of many residents and the nurses have so much physical care to attend to, that emotional care is lacking. Many residents sit by the windows all day in wheelchairs and those are the lucky ones. I find the staff to be tense and curt many times. Its as if they don't want to deal with volunteers requests or questions. I think the facility is impressive from the outside and the lobby is tasteful and ornate but the actual physical rooms are no different than any hospital.

I visited this facility
Annaburg Manor is a wonderful nursing home. They offer many different accommodations depending on the severity of the needs of the individual. The staff is friendly and the facilities are clean. It seems that they have many of activities such as bingo and ice cream socials. Manassas is a great little city to live in. There are many opportunities for people to leave and become active in the community. Additionally if family members came to visit, there are places to stay and to eat in downtown Manassas which is a short walk from Annaburg Manor. Annaburg Manor is also a relatively small nursing home, which means that you or your family member will not get lost in the crowd. There will be plenty of people to look out for them and make sure that their needs are attended to. When visiting the rooms, the people living there seem very comfortable and happy. I think anyone would be happy living there or having one of their family members live there.
