I didn't trust myself, after a knee replacement, to do what I had to do to recover so decided to stay at the rehab center of Oakwood Village East. I give high marks to my physical therapist and to a night nurse named Aaron. When my knee suddenly started to really, really hurt, the day nurses said it was just a normal part of recovery. The night nurse, Aaron, had the foresight to call the doctor and was told to call an ambulance & get me to the hospital. It turned out I had developed bleeding in the knee, which is one of the most painful things I have EVER experienced. The day nurses should have done what Aaron did! Also, there was a rather nasty night nurse, named Mary, I was in the bathroom when she came into my room and she snidely remarked, "Are you in the bathroom again!" I just spouted off to her that I had just survived a saddle pulmonary embolism and I didn't need her coming into my room acting like a smart aleck. My physical therapist, after I told her what happened, said Mary has done that before so she reported her to the management. The next evening Mary tried to be nice. After I was released from the hospital (after the knee bleed) I decided to just rehab at home. I was only taken to rehab once daily at Oakwood so I figured I could just rehab at home. I hope Mary is not still being rude to patients at the center.
