I was absolutely disgusted with the way my grandmother was cared for at this facitity. Me being a CNA I know all the responsibilities of a caregiver and I was certainly not happy at all. Our family would take turns everyday coming in to check on her and each time we were overall disappointed. There were times me or other family members would go in she would have a dirty depend in her garbage can, it would be after 4 pm and her bed still would not be made and there was bowel left on the mattress, she was left without dentures during dinner, no leg rest on wheel chair, items went missing such as cell phone and new shoes, her clothes were put on other residents, continuous UTIs due to not being assisted to the bathroom as she should have she reeked of urine all of the time. I have reported to surprisvors and none were helpful and nothing has changed. If it was up to me I would never have a member of my family put into a nursing home especially one like this but she had surgery and needed therapy before returning home. Several call lights going off and aides just standing around talking and on their phones, no one even looked professional that worked there. Absolutely horrible place.

I have a precious that is having to be there temp. Between aids more concerned about texting onvtberes phones instead of feeding. Clients just letting them sit there staring at there food starving tried feed once when clientvsays no they wheel them away i feed them they ate fine . They ignore clients dont speak to them no compassion . Rough handling leave them falling out of there chairs. Leave them in bed until noon never get them up. Laying in extremely soil diapers. As for comments previously made about friendly and greeting i have seen none of this neither has my family or friends. I have only seen attitude and rudeness. I witness a client falling head first out of wheelchair noone pay attention client had a ankle monitor alarm going off client taken off outside noone paid attention . This place is very instituionalized looking very depressing needs color . I have witnessed people bed ridden have NO attention for 8 hrs! This is a hoorible place for anyone to be!

I am a friend or relative of a resident
My father was a resident of Belair. He was well cared for and he was respected. The staff was friendly, kind and always had a smile for him and my family. The organized meetings with the social workers so my mother and I would feel more comfortable with everything that was happening. The building itself showed it's age. The parking area was sufficient. My father could request specific food and the food was always served correctly. Often they would bring my mother and extra tray when she was there during meal time. The residents were free to congregate in the lobby, television room, or on the front porch. They were always watched over. They offered physical therapy services. The only issues for us was that it was not offered on the weekend and it was only available in a group setting. This was then something that my father could refuse to go to. Also because there were so many people receiving physical therapy, often individuals sat and waited for long periods of time without being engaged. But overall, my family was cared for in a respetful manner in treated kindly through a very difficult time.

Visited this facility
When you first enter Belair Nursing Home in Lower Burrell, you will be greeted by the receptionist for security purposes. The receptionist makes sure that all visitors are properly screened. This Nursing Home is located in the small town of Lower Burrell. It is at the end of a small quiet neighborhood and is surrounded by trees and the outdoors. The location is great for the patient and family to interact together in the serene environment it provides. They do have some problems with infections and their patients though. This is something to consider when you tour the facility. Ask questions about how they take care of infections with their patients. The staff are dedicated to the patients and also provide the compassion a person deserves. I would make certain that I ask the director of nursing to let you know about there inspection reports. This is always a good thing to ask. Do take a list of things you want to know about when going for a visit and also talk to the staff. They are the ones taking care of the patients on a daily basis and can provide their perspective. I have had a loved one here in the past and you need to be on top of things to make sure your loved one is getting the care they deserve.
