I am a friend or relative of a resident
I knew two people who are at Solheim Lutheran Home and they seemed to enjoy the facility, so I chose this place for my wife. The staff are doing a good job with regards to the care of my wife. Her room is a shared room so she has a partner there, another lady. They have guest rooms if families would want to come in and stay. Overall, I am very pleased of what is going on.

I visited this facility
The best nursing home I've visited! The staff are all wonderful, know their stuff, and are incredibly personable. I was delighted every day I visited to talk to staff members and residents alike, and every single person I ran into really seemed to enjoy being there. The buildings were all in tip top shape, everything was clean, the food was spectacular. One of my favorite parts of this place was the vast number of activities they had planned every single day for the residents. On top of that, they even have a really cute little gift/thrift shop that is run and supported by the residents. I really got the feeling that everyone was a part of the team and it was really like walking in to a whole fully functional little city. I would very much consider sending a family member to this facility or even living there myself one day.

I am a friend or relative of resident
If you are willing to spend 100% of your time with your loved one, then this place is okay. It's clean, and patients aren't physically abused. However, there is no contact with the outside world; so patients are totally isolated. Televisions are left on 24x7, so sleep is difficult. The only phone available must be answered by the nurses, and they do their best to make it such a pain for patient (waking them up for phone calls by yelling or shaking them, taking it away while people are still talking), that you'll never want to put your loved one through it again. We also found that nutrition is a problem. Food is left for the patient for only a short period of time; if they don't finish it before it's taken away, it's still logged as a full meal. Food is also mediocre. There simply isn't a lot of mental stimulation -- which means that victims of stroke are unlikely to recover.
