GOLDEN AGE HOME ASSISTED LIVING gave my mom exceptional care. She enjoyed the other residents, the activities and the helpful staff. She was given more food than she could eat and absolutely loved the soups! My mom was very happy living here!!

My person stayed at the GAH for over 7 years. He was taken care of and even over and above what was expected! During COVID the facility and staff were awesome as we could not visit our person they took great care of him and his needs. They took him to his Doctor appointments as he was wheel chair bound so we could no longer take him. Nicole is a great person and awesome leader of the facility. It was very hard for us to not be able to take our person to his DR. appointments but the Gah took great care of him. Can’t thank the staff enough for all they did for our grumpy old man. Nicole, Lucy and Jewel thank your for what you do and the awesome people you are! Chuck and Bernadette Cutshall

My mother lived at the Golden Age for 6 years. The rooms are similar to an efficiency apartment (one large room) that can accommodate a twin bed, a couple of chairs, a TV and a few side tables. Each room has a private half bath (sink & toilet) in it. The rooms are a little out-dated, but very comfortable. There are plenty of activities, games and crafts offered to the residents. The facility always organizes special events for Mother's Day, Father's Day and holidays that includes invitations for all family members. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They genuinely care about each resident and do their very best to make sure everyone receives the level of care needed. If ever a problem arose, they were very willing and able to make any necessary corrections. We were very pleased with the service and care provided to our mom. She was able to continue living an independent life with support and care from the staff. I believe this was the best selection for her care and the budget we were working with.

Although the building is older, this facility is a non-profit. They truly care about the residents. It’s obvious they choose loving people to work there. They always have something going on to engage the residents. I’m so grateful they treat my mom with dignity.

I can't say enough good things about Golden Age! My mother lived there for about 1.5 years until she passed. The facility is older, however it is clean and well maintained. She loved her room, especially that she was able to personalize it so it felt like home. The staff took wonderful care of her and she truly felt loved and among a community of family and friends. We are forever grateful that we found Golden Age and that mother had such excellent care in a loving environment.

I knew about Golden Age long before I ever visited the facility. My son-in-law had several relatives who lived there over the yeare, and they often spoke of Grandad being there in the early years, and Dad and others being there in this century. In 2007 when my husband became gravely ill, I (with the help of my children and grandchildren) packed up our home 100 miles away and my husband and I moved to GAH. We consequently sold the home and RV we had left behind. During the 4 months we were residents there, I had a very serious surgery, and I felt comforted knowing that he was receiving the best of care. When he eventually passed away in July of that year, I moved to an apartment in Lockhart, but I told my children that if I ever came to the point where I couldn't live alone, I would move back to Golden Age. That time came in early January of 2020, when I suddenly lost the eyesight in one eye. I moved back to Golden Age just in time for all of us to become acquainted with COVID-19.The extra care of the residents during this trying time has been stellar. Arrangements have been made for virtual doctor visits when essential medical attention were necessary or transportation with all necessary precautions has been provided . I don't know any place I would rather be to wait out this trying time. We continue to receive 3 nutritious meals a day with healthy choices. The staff has been knocking themselves out to see after our needs while protecting us from the possibilities of contacting those who might expose us to the disease. At this time, joint activities are not an option, but there will come a time when it is expedient to return to our usual mild exercise, Bible studies, Bingo, movie matinees, virtual concerts, mind building activties, etc. In reading various reviews of others, I agree that the building is old and the colors of the walls are somber, but we're not in Disneyland, after all. Thank you, Golden Age, and all those whose foresight years ago was responsible for providing a facility with a Christian environment that has meant so much to me and my family.

Golden Age Home Assisted Living was very rundown. It's nice on the outside, but as soon as you open the front door the smell was very musty, very damp, and had a moldy type smell. All the walls were concrete blocks. The building was falling apart in different areas. They told me that if my mom falls, they don't get the people up, they call the fire department in to come and pick them up instead. I wasn't impressed with anything, but the lady who gave me the tour was super nice and very friendly. They need a lot of maintenance work.

Golden Age Home was the worst. I don't know why that place is open. I have nothing good to say about it. The walls and rooms were grey. There were no bright colors whatsoever. It had a smell to it. The rooms were very small and the kitchenette had a small dormitory refrigerator. There was very little staff available the day we went. I had made an appointment for the tour, and the lady wasn't there. They had very few choices for activities.

I did not like Golden Age Home. I made an appointment, but the person who was supposed to meet me was not there. They had gone to lunch, so I waited. The whole place smelled like urine. It was all brick walls, so it looked very bland and very depressing. There wasn't any activity at all.

I visited Golden Age Home Assisted Living. I liked that it was very quiet, and it was very clean. The rooms they provided were big enough to be comfortable. They progressed from simple assisted living to being able to accommodate hospice -- which was important to me. They gave me pamphlets and contacts for everything. They provided three meals a day. You could keep your own car as long as you were able. They showed me three different rooms. I liked that you could get a wheelchair into the bathroom. They also had accessible bath tubs and not showers. They had a laundry and rec room.

We’d visited Golden Age Home Assisted Living a couple of times, so we felt comfortable from the beginning. The staff is very caring and very genuine. They have a variety of programs to keep the residents engaged and socialized. It has a good family feel to it. Overall, it’s a good community. My relative seems to be enjoying it, and everything is good so far, so I have no complaints.

At Golden Age Home, the facility is musty and the carpets need to be ripped out since they’re all stained and disgusting. The shower stalls are not handicap accessible, so there's nothing for old people in wheelchairs. The person that was going to give me a tour wasn’t there, so I ended up being with another woman from the a cafeteria staff. She was extremely polite and very informative, so the staff was fine, but I was so disappointed with the place. The first room they showed me, as soon as they opened the door, had a heavy musty smell. It hit you right in the face. She said it has been closed for awhile, and that it’ll get better. However, the next four rooms we went to were all like that. It was bad.

Small town charm and cleanliness! I couldn't be more pleased with the care of my Uncle. The staff is always responsive and helpful and my Loved one misses his "family" there when we leaves for an overnight stay with me. Worth the commute for me to have him in an environment that cares so much!

As a not -for-profit partner with Golden Age, I provide free computer classes to residents of Golden Age. I have been doing classes twice a month for nearly two years and have observed and participated in many activities. he staff is always cordial, helpful, and caring. The employees provide feedback on classes and make recommendations for new topics by surveying the residents. It has been a pleasure working with this organization and they have made me feel at home on every occasion.

My father moved here in mid May. The staff has been top notch, very professional, caring, personable and helpful. Dad often looks out his large windows and says, "This is so beautiful." He loves the food, too. We are very pleased.

The building is old but the place is very welcoming, thanks to great residents and staff! My mom has resided there since early June, 2014. She loves it! There are many activities and good meals. She never has to think about what to eat. It's very clear that the staff really cares for the residents. I would recommend this place.
