I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

As a result of multiple health concerns my mother in law had to be placed into a nursing facility. I am a Registered Nurse with over 20 years experience, and have never seen such neglect in my life. The nursing staff are less than helpful, lacking significant knowledge as nursing professionals. Simple questions cannot be answered, and they tell family they cannot retrieve information from the charts. My mother in law has been in and out of the hospitals over the past 9 months, and most of them could have been avoided. Medications have been withheld, assessments not completed as Medicare and medicaid require. Dr orders are frequently not followed through by Nursing. I have called the "State" to complain, the Administrator, Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing and her Primary Physician. At one point the administrative staff offered to transfer her to another facility as their solution to their may problems. They have unsafe practices for safety, the therapy department lacks anything to be desired, including standard gait belt use for transferring my mother in law. She has been sent to appointments by herself in a wheelchair, without supervision,, she is a fall risk and confused at times. Activities are virtually nonexhistant, during Covid... I could go on and on. Thet are lucky they get 1 star from me, I can't grade them any lower unfortunately.

This was the worst nursing home ever. If you can’t do for yourself forget about experience staff to assist or truly care. Stay away

The staff members were very nice which made me decide that it was the place for my father. I took a tour also and because to the Covid19 I was not able to go inside. I visited my father outside his window. My father was recovering from a previous assistant living home which caused him to be in rehab. I had hoped that they the care givers took me more seriously including the doctor. I had told them for over a week that my dad had something wrong in his speech he kept clearing his throat. I was told that they listened to his lungs and he sound fine. but I talked to him everyday and could tell it was getting worst. my dad fell and the one of the aids said she was walking by and seen him on the floor. That wasn't true because I was on the phone with him and I called the desk to have someone to help him. Later I was told he was fine nothing was wrong well a couple of days later he couldn't breath he was taken to the ER and there I found out that his lungs were full of fluid and he had a huge bruise alone with a tear on his arm from the fall. The doctor mentions that he didn't give him the medicine that would have helped with the fluid build up because of a medication list that didn't include because I notice that when he was sent to a different hospital in their care prior to this both medication list that he was released with was different from what he had at Orchard Park so I brought it to their attention and it was changed but the medication he needed was not on the list and wasn't given to him. Negligence. My dad had a aid that was very mean to him by the name of Christina in the negative covid unit. My father never made it out of the hospital and died Sept 4 I heard no condolences or anything from Orchard Park. I guess I can understand why just another senior gone by their negligence. I spoke to so many of their staff and no one said nothing. If your love one is in good health then they may have a chance here but if they need any kind of care I would recommend you look else where

First, the therapy here is fantastic. All the therapists are the best. Living here, however, is horrible. They are very understaffed and staff turnover is rampant. Food is barely edible. There is absolutely no flexibility at all. You are trapped inside the facility. Prison would be more pleasant. Come here as an outpatient for therapy; DO NOT ever live here. It’s awful.

My mother was in this facility for 10 days after being hospitalized with a fractured hip. She was consistently ignored at night when she needed help to the restroom. The first night she was there, she pushed her buzzer many time and even yelled for help before getting herself into a wheelchair and taking herself to the restroom. She could see workers outside of her room laughing and talking and no one would respond. Once, she was helped to restroom and then forgotten. She also had to request her meds because the nurses couldn't seem to follow her schedule. What is most upsetting to me is that the director of nursing, Denise, and the Assistant Administrator, Katie, would not return my calls. I left multiple messages for Denise on her work voicemail as well as her personal cell phone and she never responded. I live out of state and was not able to be there. Once I was able to speak to the physical therapist who happened to be in my mother's room when I called her. Another time I was able to speak to another employee, possibly a social worker, when she was in my mother's room. I was then told that we needed to adjust our expectations because in the hospital the nurse to patient ratio is 4 to1 but at the Orchard Park facility it is 12-15 to 1. A patient should expect to wait 30 minutes or more when they have to go to the bathroom or need any other assistance. Based on my mother's experience, a patient at this facility needs a loved one or friend with them at all times to monitor and assist them because there is not enough staff to care for them properly. Also, the administration doesn't seem to care.

The facility is top shelf. From the doctors & nurses to the therapists the people are very caring and qualified. Very personable.

I'm so thankful for the wonderful care I received during the two weeks I recovered from a back fusion at Orchard Park Rehab. I had great nurses, CNA's, physical therapists and occupational therapists. Having a private room was a plus. The food was great too! I loved having RN's who were not only compassionate, but had wonderful senses of humor to help get me through the painful days. I was super impressed with the leadership at Orchard Park and witnessed them taking time to talk with the elderly patients who were feeling lonely and encouraging them with opportunities to get involved in the many activities that are offered. It was fun to push my walker all over the facility once I got my independence to move about without needing a physical therapist at my side. No matter where I went, the staff people in each unit were friendly and fun. I highly recommend Orchard Park Health Care Center for those who are needing to have a safe, loving and caring place to recover from major surgery before going home. I have no complaints, but total praise for all who made my stay so special. Thank you!

Care was excellent. When pressed to give me an exit date, the response was vague. Seems like I was going to stay longer but can't help thinking it's money motivated. Called three times after I was released for PT sessions but was told by Simon that he'd get back to me. Never did. MD gave me a list and one call gave me the necessary appts

Our experience was wonderful. From beginning to end it was a smooth transition for the whole family. My grandfather was in the hospital for many days and very weak, recommended rehab. The liason came out and visited us personally and we took a tour of the facility. It is very warm and welcoming; the whole staff smiled when we walked around. When we arrived on admission the nurse did a full assessment and we got oriented to the building. The rehab was awesome! I sat in on a couple of sessions and the team really thinks outside the box for rehab to reach our goals. The nurses are CNAs were very attentive and met all our needs. The facility is clean, it smells good and the food is excellent! Overall, the experience was wonderful and if we were to recommend any rehab facility to any family, it would be Orchard Park.

My father in law was there and it had just been remodeled. Very nice inside and out. The staff was unbelievably caring, attentive, and efficient. They treated him with dignity, respect and compassion in his last days. They kept him comfortable and safe. When he passed, they consoled me with such caring concern (I was a basket case). I highly recommend this place.

My mother was in this facility after having knee replacement surgery. She is only 64 and fully capable of deciding what type of care she needs. The first day in, one of the nurses helped her to the bathroom, told her she was going to get some ice, and never returned. My mother was left on the toilet for 30 minutes. The assistants were coming in her room in the middle of the night to empty garbage cans and straighten her room. She was also not given her pain medication when it was due. My mother was neglected in this "care" facility. She recovered much better at home with my 12 year old daughter helping her out.

This facility caters to short term care NOT long term care! (Most recent situation) Air conditioning units went out in the rooms of these people in their 80's and 90's the morning of the 16th of July. Our temperatures have been in the upper 90'sand over 100 degrees. Asking about the situation, I have gotten silent treatment from one dept. head, "when the parts come in" from the maintenance man. One nurse shouted at an elderly person, "open your windows!" The central office and small TV room has air cond. up and running for staff.....Today is the 21st of July No real information seems available as to when this will be fixed! Some of the elderly NEED to lie down after lunch.....perhaps it will take a death from heat stroke!??!
