I visited Freedom Village and loved it because on the premises they had three levels of care. I liked everything about it from their swimming pools, the living quarters, the friendliness, to the little kitchen that I could make my breakfast and lunch if I wanted to. I could also go downstairs to the coffee shop. I gave up when I saw that it was over $4,000, and I couldn’t afford it. I would have chosen Freedom Village by all means if I could afford it. I’d highly recommend it.

I visited this facility
I was in skilled nursing at Freedom Village. I have visited them before, and my neighbor moved there, so I am familiar with Freedom Village. You have to pay a fee upfront to be living in the apartments, and that is what my friend did. It is very nice, and they have a very nice dining room and everything. I have food ulcer, and I was in the hospital, and then when it was time to go to a skilled nursing place, I opted to go there, so I was in their skilled nursing facility. My husband was also there at the same time, and I was very pleased. They took very good care of us there, except I didn't care for their food. It was a little greasy, so I put a note every time that said, "No grease." After a while, the food didn't have any grease, so they got the message. They were just normal apartments, and you can have one bedroom or two bedrooms. They even have a studio, so it is all according to what you like. The only activities while I was there was in the skilled nursing facility. We would go down the hall and in the dining room, they would have sing-along where they would play the piano and you would sing-along or they would have a movie or something that people would come in, and then they had another room where we went in, and then they have the sing-along. They also would play with the big beach ball and bounce it around from person to person across the room, do some exercises and things like that, and that was about the extent of the exercise in that department.

I am a friend or relative of resident
My aunt was in the skilled nursing center for a little over two months. I live out fo the area and would be there every other week. I spent a lot of time at the facility and had ample opportunity to observe the staff interacting with the residents. I was extremely impressed with all of the staff, from those who cleaned to those who managed the facility. They are dedicated to their work, compassionate, respectful, and supportive with the residents and with their family members and friends. My aunt, who had been a nurse, was very happy with her care and enjoyed and appreciated the staff at the facility. When she could no longer direct her own care, I was very comfortable having her at Freedom VIllage, especially since I could not be there all of the time.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
When my grandmother first got taken over to Freedom Village, I was hesitant. We are very close, and I never think these places are any good. Freedom Village seems to have a friendly staff who care for the people there, and seem to always be attentive to their needs. I think the facility could be a little cleaner, as well as more open areas to visit. It seems a bit crowded when you go to visit, and personally I don't like trying to have a conversation when there is someone else you don't know right next to you or behind you. Every now and then you get a staff member who is not friendly or quick in getting something my grandma needs, but you find that anywhere, but for the most part, they are good there and it is the best place for her. I just think that they could focus more on the cleanliness of the place because elderly people can pick up infection easier than most people and they are not the most sanitary facility. It smells a little funny and you can see there are rooms, floors, and parts of the building that need help.
