I visited this facility

My mom will move into Sunny Hills Post-Acute. It was referred to us by her current nursing home, and it's owned by the same company. Because of that, I felt they would be held to the same standards. It was bright and it was well-lit. The front entrance was bright and cheery. There was lots of parking. And I appreciated the fact that their visitation is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I met the director of nursing and the admissions director, and they were very nice. They were both very friendly and they listened to my concerns. The rooms looked like they were kept clean, and they had individual TVs.

I visited this facility

My father recooperated at Miranda Hills after his stroke. He received the best care from all the nurse and therapists he worked with. He was happy and comfortable. We the family knew he was in good hands. The place was clean and fresh and all the personal was friendly at all times. If needed we will come here again . I highly recommend Mirada Hills to anyone.

Avoid if you can! Although there were some very helpful and hardworking nurses, this facility is completely mismanaged, disorganized and disgusting. The front office and so called social worker repeatedly gave us misinformation and were very hostile and insensitive to our mother. We couldn't get her out of there fast enough. Thanks to the utter insensitivy and poorly run "resources to assist us" my mothers condition was made worse by their attitude, nonchalant demeanor and mistreatment. If you can't be sensitive to this stressful and uncertain time in someone's life and you enjoy bullying frightened and sick senior citizens, then you don't belong in a caregiving industry that should be fostering a spirit of healing and encouragement. They lack common sense, do not treat patients with dignity, are completely disorganized and are far from nurturing or reassuring. I was warned not to take her there but we had limited resources at the time. If at all possible do yourself a favor and avoid the horrible stench and incompetent administration of this facility.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My father suffered a mild stroke/fall in September, I thank God it was nothing major in terms of his mobility and speech, but after a week long stay at the hospital we were sent to pick a rehabilitation place for him. On the list of facilities accepting his insurance was Mirada Hills. Upon initial entrance the place felt nice and clean. When I asked about a tour, they asked me to fill out an information card and within a minute I was happily greeted with their admissions guy. He was very attentive and informative (cute too, reminded me of Eric Bana :)). He gave us a very detailed tour of the facility, highlighting the short-term area where my father would have his room to the therapy gym and a studio apartment type room for therapy also. Both my sister and I were very impressed by the facility and ended up choosing it for my father. For the next 20 or so days my father received exceptional care from the nurses and staff. He loved the therapy girls and for most days the food. The room was always kept nice and clean, staff were very attentive to his needs, only complaint would possibly be noise level (he was quite close to a nurses station) and his light sometimes taking a few minutes to get answered. These were the only negatives I could think of and is why I deducted a star to their rating. Overall our stay at Mirada Hills went as smoothly as a stay at a nursing home could go and we are very thankful to everyone there. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Mirada Hills was one of the better nursing homes that my family had visited when we were choosing one for my mom to move to after a lengthy hospital stay. After a disastrous stay at a nearby Whittier nursing home (lasting only several hours), this place was a pleasure. There are a few relatively good charge nurses and assistants, but some are indifferent. The doctors were very hard to get in touch with when immediate problems, like medication changes came up.Also, there seemed to be several layers of bureaucracy to get through to have them make requests to our personal doctor. One of the best aspects of the home was the speech therapist, who, besides facilitating great progress in speech and swallowing in my mother, was very proactive and caring in all aspects of her care. She often acted as an advocate for us when she thought she needed care that she wasn't getting. Also, most of the physical therapists and occupational therapists and trainees were very good. Even though some were tough, they still knew that they were dealing with an elderly woman and seemed to know her capabilities. The facilities and food were relatively good and some of the long term patients seemed happy. The front office was okay, but one of the workers was always sour. Overall, I would recommend this facility to someone who needed to place a love one in a nursing home.
