My brother had the unfortunate experience of staying at this facility under the pretense of "physical therapy/rehab" to help him with range of motion/strength training etc. After one week, we had him discharged. He was safer at home with outpatient therapy. The physical therapy was an insult to our intelligence. With the exception of one or two staff members, the care was marginal at best. Had the family not taken shifts to be with my brother to assist with EVERYTHING, he would have probably been treated like the poor helpless patients that are parked in front of the nurses stations and along the walls for an entire shift or more. The staff ignored their presence and plea's for help. They sat in their wheelchairs with their legs hanging down, heads bobbing with no support as they sporadically slept and their meals placed in front of them with minimal assistance. It was obvious to me that the patients who were suffering from dementia/childlike behavior or stroke victims were the ones who got planted. Those with a voice to express displeasure or a phone to call family were safely in their rooms etc. Out of sheer disgust, I finally asked the nurse in charge why one particular woman who looked to be in such discomfort was left in the hard plastic/vinyl chair for over 7 hours. The response I got was "we have to keep a close eye on her". The same goes for the other poor residents who do not have to ability to protest. Unfortunately, this goes on at most non-profit facilities. If your loved one is unable to speak for themselves, you'd better make sure surprise visits are made.

Daddy in Summit View of Farragut and he is in the last days of his life due to bladder cancer. Summit View is like a typical nursing home. We don't think he's getting as good care as he possible can, if we can afford better care. The place is not clean and it smells terrible. The smell will knock you down when you walk in the door. They do not wash people's hands before they eat. There are foods on the floor. The people that work there with an exception of the PT, OT, the speech therapist and the head of the Alzheimer's unit, are almost at the point of rude and hateful. They sleep in each other's bed and they take their clothes off. They said they can't help it and there's nothing I can do about it. So, sometimes I walk in and sit in a room with 33 naked people. They need to improve on the cleanliness to get rid of the smell and the dirt on the floor. They need to wrap up the tables after lunch, wash the people's hands and change their diapers more than twice a day.
