I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I do not doubt that there are people working here that are working their hardest to help people who are patients (so the 2 star is for them) - but it all trickles down to the entry level employees who don’t care/are overburden/are undertrained? My brother came here for pneumonia/sepsis/surgery recovery after days in ICU. Within the first 16 hours he had called me twice as they had none of the meds he was supposed to be on, including insulin. In panic mode HE called 911 and went back to the ER to get his meds. We got him back to the facility. One week later he had fallen 8 times, his pain control was negligent and he was a physical mess. We picked him up for a drs appointment the facility told us he had that really didn’t exist. The good news is, the Dr squeezed him in and within 5 min personally wheeled him to the ER where he was admitted directly to the ICU with C diff, pneumonia etc. My brothers comments included call buttons not responded to for over an hour. He frequently soiled himself or fell getting to the bathroom. Food/insulin not balanced. He’d complained of diarrhea for days and it wasn’t treated. He was in a room with a patient with RSV and we were not told. It’s hard - I am sure reasonably healthy people that are there for recovery post fall etc do just fine. But this was no place to send someone with complex medical needs who wasnt able to be an advocate for himself due to his illnesses. As family members, we wished we’d been able to put all the pieces of what was going on in place sooner. We could have saved him the stress of another two weeks in the hospital.

This place is horrific. A beloved xelderly family member spent a couple of weeks at this dump after a long hospital stay. We literally had to move as the lack of care she was receiving was becoming a matter of life and death. She received virtually no PT, which was the main reason she was placed there. Her strength and mobility declined dramatically while there. On top of that, she was allowed to develop a Level 2 bed sore, and a serious UTI that was ignored. The place is filthy -- the majority of staff are unfriendly and rarely say YES to any requests for assistance. Bad news -- do not use this place under any circumstance.

Very Caring staff. I can tell that the processes and audits are pretty tight and well run so it's not people dependent. Would have given 6 stars if I could.

RN’s grossly understaffed. Call button wait times 30 minutes plus. IV’s administered without gloves. Ports cleaned without gloves. Medications not delivered as scheduled. Food quality and taste was terrible.

The facility is nice and clean enough. My mom was there for 5 nights of respite care. When she arrived, they seemed unprepared for her. They were not accommodating when asked to make my mom comfortable after repeated requests. Medications were not given in a timely manner leaving my mother uncomfortable and in pain. The staff was defensive rather than trying to understand my mother's needs. I brought her back home after only one night.

Very poor care at this facility. I spoke with one of the nurses on the way out and he confirmed that they just don't have enough people on a shift to cover all the patients. Call lights stay on forever. Very sad, it seems the state isn't monitoring this very closely. I honestly am surprised they haven't closed this place down yet.

Mom has been at Marianwood for just over a week, and I am unhappy. She has lost 15 pounds. If our family members don't speak up, she is ignored. Food is bad, I ate some of her lunch, and felt sick to my stomach, accompanied with diarrhea. Kaiser offered no alternatives on the east side, so we are stuck. I am a private caregiver professionally, and am appalled at the lack of care she receives. They seem to put patients in diapers, and forget about them. This I know to be true, because my mother sat in a poopy diaper for nearly an hour, before an aide came to change her. She is afraid to complain. I have complained, and today she said they are being rude, and threatening to send her home, because she complains too much. P.T and O.T. are very helpful and professional. They are the only two people I've met who seem to care.

My mom has been in Providence Marianwood for two months, and it is not bad. The place is clean and orderly. The people are nice and take care of her. They have church services, bingo, high school kids who come in to do nails, and activities going on. It is a big nursing home that's been around since the mid-1970s that's next to a retirement area for 55 and older people that is right outside their gate. It is a nice area within the Swedish hospital system, which is the reason why she went in there. The maintenance is good.

Was not impressed right when I walked in. My husband went there after surgery. Didn't seem very clean. Weekends they were extremely short staffed. I wanted to take him home, but his Dr thought he'd be safer to stay there. Then a few days ago he started vomiting and having diarrhea. I went to see him. He was vomiting. Couldn't keep anything down. Next day I got extremely ill. Violent vomiting and diarrhea. They said there are 12 or so people there in quarantine who have the same symptoms. Pretty sure it's Norovirus, although they won't tell us, even after the stool sample. If I could have just taken him home, neither one of us would have gotten sick! Some of the staff said they had it a few weeks ago, so it just keeps getting passed around. Not happy with this place.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this facility due to the fact that I had to do several things on my own to get things accomplished. Some of the nursing staff were very nice butt my main concern was the therapist we're all changed to new therapist as soon we had questions and concerns. . When I would ask them why they weren't coming back to help my mom they said they have been switched to another patient. This was their way of getting out of answering questions which was unfair to my mom. She was progressing but Medicaid only pays up to 21 days unless the therapist can show functional Improvement which my mom was doing but that they denied even though they witnessed her walking for the first time after the first recomendation of no more funtional improvement. Also the social worker by the name of Holly did not do her job. She did not help fill out paperwork or research Medicaid application for my mother and allowed me to do all the leg work when I had never done this kind of thing before. I did not know that the social worker was supposed to do all these things until I spoke with DSHS office and they asked me why I am doing all the work and not the social worker. I told them I did not know that she was supposed to be doing all this. Holly also told me that my mother would not qualify for Medicaid when in actuality she did qualify and is now approved and being well taken care of but if I would have listened to Holly, who knows where my mom would be. My mom may be in a private facility and us kids would be paying for it so I am glad I applied for Medicaid I just wish Holly would have done it since this is her job. This was a very difficult thing to go thru in my life and it sure would have been nice to have had a professional social worker on board instead of allowing me to do it. When I spoke with billing about the story they told me I should speak to the manager at marianwood by the name of Logan Strode, whom I have left a message for but it has now been one week and I have not received a call back. I can only assume that I will not be hearing back from Logan either so overall I am disappointed with Providence Marianwood and that is why I cannot recommend this facility. My other grave concern is that I wish I would of known about the lack of care at Marianwood when my dad was there 2 yrs prior. He passed away in the facility and was alone when he died and I have no idea if Mariawood did the best they could.

Providence Marianwood was better than the other one we looked at; that’s why we chose this facility. The staff were OK. The doctors seemed to be way overworked, and my wife was there for probably 10 or 12 days before she got some evaluation. The food was awful, but the facility was clean.

Providence Point is a smaller place but it provides some community services like pool, exercise and trips. It's also within our budget.

Very poor nursing care by the Group Health nurse. Facility is terribly understaffed, staff is woefully overworked and unable to attend to patient needs and medical requirements.
