    I visited this facility

St. Andrew's was a very nice facility. As a matter of fact, I was wanting my husband to take my mother-in-law there before he decided to take her down to where she is now. The area was very nice. They had nice facilities. They had a lot of activities for their residents as well. It was a very clean place, and they seemed very nice as well. It was beautiful. They had different levels of care, and they had a specific Alzheimer's unit. The staff was friendly. I had other people telling me that they had family there, and they were taken excellent care of. One of the reasons why I was looking into that home was because of several different people telling they had relatives there. They had a salon. For those who had Alzheimer's and could not feed themselves, they had a separate place for them to come and eat, then somebody assisted them when they were eating.

This place is not a Christian environment and staffs at minimum and dangerously low levels. The staff turnover is frequent for this reason, and is not a family atmosphere.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I really like the community there. The staff are friendly, plan fun activities for the residents and my great aunt seems to enjoy it there. She is well taken care of and we are happy that she is there. She has been there for 5 years now. I have spoken with a few of the nurses there and they seem to really like caring for my great aunt. The facility is new and she even gets a little apartment. This makes her feel more independent. We are happy that she can still cook and care for herself, but enjoy the feeling of security with having people check in on her. She wasn't thrilled to go in the first place, but after she got used to it and make some friends she changed her opinion. A college is nearby and then send a ton of volunteers to do activities with the residents. She's always going to see students sing or play instruments. I didn't rank this facility as the best because I am aware of many more expensive and fancier facilities. St. Andrew's fits our budget and provides a great level of care for my great aunt. I don't think she would be comfortable in a very fancy and expensive facility. I definitely recommend this one to my friends. There are several facilities in the Indiana area and I have heard some bad stories about them. I didn't hear anything bad about St. Andrew's so we decided to learn more. After meeting with their staff a few times and touring the facility, my family decided that this was the best place for our great aunt. I am very happy that we put her in this facility and I am confident that she is happy too.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

St. Andrews Village provided a beautiful location for an assisted-living facility. The common areas and rooms were always immaculate. All of the staff, from the cafeteria to the nurses were kind and pleasant to my mother. The facility provided opportunities for various activity trips and would take the residents shopping around town on the small bus. The activity room provided at least two group activities every day to keep the residents active. When our family wanted to celebrate my mother's birthday, we were allowed to use the activity room for the party. The staff was very organized and helpful because we had to bring in food and entertainment. As a gift, my mother received several flats of annual flowers which the staff planted around the gazebo for her so she could enjoy the flowers throughout the summer. Many of the residents have bird feeders outside their rooms because the facility sits at the top of a hill with woods nearby. My mother enjoyed her stay at St. Andrews and was very well taken care of over the years.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My parents were both in the facility after an auto accident for rehab. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. There were a few problems however, when questions arose about insurance and who was paying the bill they would go to my parents (understandable) but they were in bad shape and in alot of pain. One nurse even told my Mom that the insurance had run out and they would have to find alternative method of payment. Mom called me upset and crying saying they were being thrown out. Also, scheduling seemed to be a problem, they would get mom or dad up and into a chair then decide that it was bath time, rehab time or whatever, and they would have to move from the chair to a wheel chair. Dad was having problems sitting in a regular wheelchair due to a shattered hip. We kept asking if there was another type of chair for him and got alot of run around, finally after much complaining a high back reclining chair was brought in for him. Other wise they were well taken care of. But sometimes the little things stick with you longer than the big picture.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My Grandfather was cared for here for 5 years. The location of St, Andrews Village is perfect for those living anywhere around Indiana and close to the Indiana Regional Medical Center just in case. The staff is extremely empathetic and gentle, but politely firm when the need arises. The living spaces are modern, clean, and bright. They have all the proper things for special needs patients who use wheelchairs or walkers. The food is also very good with great variety to keep the resident satisfied. For the more mobile residents there are plenty of offsite activities as dining, theater, arts, colleges, libraries, etc._ The directors seem to value dialogue as well. They actually listen and try to make things as comfortable as possible for residents living here. They also have excellent security in place to keep residents and visitors safe. They also make accommodations for couples to stay together as much as possible too. Overall a very nice facility.
