I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad was a patient at Hale Nani ):). Please do NOT call this place a nursing facility! - Press the nurses call button and wait... Dad was bedridden, so he developed bed sores due to long wait times before a nurse would respond to clean him or adjust his position. - Food was always cold... probably because it sat a long time at the nurse's station before bringing it to dad and assisting him. - Facility did a horrible job when it came to placing dad in a shared room... the other patient was extremely disorderly, cussing & yelling and always agitated. When asked to move dad to another room, was told "we'll see what we can do" (which was code for "nope, he's staying there"). My dad increasingly got worst, so we advised mgmnt we were taking dad out of this facility. They had the nerve to try & convince us that they provided dad with excellent service & would let his personal physician know that THEY DO NOT recommend dad being discharged!!!! Needless to say, dad was moved out of this horrible facility.

This is the worst facility I have ever been in. My mother was here for a month and she absolutely despised it. She was constantly being ignored by the staff, call light was going on for 15 or more minutes, and most of all the staff spoke in filipino in front of visitors! Very unprofessional. I brought this up to the social worker Rozcel and nothing is being done! Do not bring your family members here!

My mom was recently there for two and a half weeks and it was the most difficult time she has ever experienced. The service by the staff was poor and uncaring. English was a second language to some. It made me stressed out to hear my mom's concerns and I was unable to sleep at night knowing she was not in good hands. I tried to visit her but the visitor parking was being used by employees so I had to park on the street. I hope one day I will never experience what she went through because I will make sure the workers there will be held accountable.

I would give a ZERO! This place is horrible. I have complained to the Administrator Nenoa many times but all complaints have fallen on deaf ears. It takes me 45 min each time to find parking because staff take up all visitors parking. Their food is bland and always served cold (even coffee). Their nurses are rude and uncaring! My mom's insulin wasn't given on two occurrences, and their head of nursing is incompetent and far from a nursing leader. Their facility is old. Their activities department offered my mother coloring books. Your loved one would die here and this facility would not even care!

The facility is large and patient care is lacking. Our mom was there after a stroke and was suppose to receive physical, occupational and speech therapy. While there, our mom needed help with her hearing aides and common sense would be to know that hearing aides are necessary for hearing instructions yet, the therapist would say she was uncooperative and non responsive during her sessions. She COULD NOT HEAR them!! Nurse Chong would not take responsibility for any mishaps or missed steps or miscommunication, she would blame someone else for her dropping the ball in our moms care. When our moms eligibility days came to an end, they made poor attempt to help us find a suitable place for transfer and fudged on her discharge papers saying she was much more advanced in her recovery than she realistically was. No activities were suggested and we had no insight of the rooms due to COVID protocol no one allowed in facility and families are limited to visits for 15 minutes a week and they were quite strict with this rule. Overall, I would not recommend this place to my worse enemy. STAY AWAY!!

I am/was a resident of this facility

Two years ago, I was a patient there for 3 weeks after a bad fall. The care was very good. The nurses and nurse's assistance worked very hard to take care of the patients and the physical and occupational therapy was very helpful. In addition to the PT and OT, they have activities for the patients every day. There are areas where the patients can get outside. I was happy with the care I received at Hale Nani.

Hale Nani Rehabilitation and Nursing Center has been very good. It is an excellent place. They help my husband with bathing, feeding, medications, and therapy. They provide three meals a day. The place is very clean, and the staff is very friendly.

We put my uncle into Hale Nani Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. It’s really good. They have a lot of amenities and extra services. The staff seems like they’re well trained, friendly, and cater to each individual’s needs, which is nice. They have an orientation process where they show what they’re going to do for him, and it’s easy to reach them when you want to call them. My uncle likes the food. The rooms are a little small, but they’re fine. There are places to go but very limited parking. I would recommend this place.

Hale Nani looked crowded and buzzers are always going off when residents want to call the staff. We always see patients in the hallway. The food is good. It has an area outside where the residents can go and meet their relatives. My mother-in-law liked to sing, so she participated in the karaoke.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I came to Hale Nani virtually paralyzed from infections. In 10 days, their OT and PT professionals had me walking with a cane and able to return home. The food was goof. The nursing staff was caring and cheerful. I felt that they really cared. I would wholeheartedly recommend Hale Nani as a rehab facility.

I visited this facility

This facility is a huge place that does not seem to be very therapeutic. There are 3 wings with lots of rooms and very little activity space for the residents. It is very noisy and crowded with residents and equipment. The staff aren't the friendliest people around and won't greet you even if you look lost which is a bit disturbing to me. The residents do look clean and content for the most part and when they do interact with the resident, seem kind and nice. It would be nice if it was more activity oriented for the residents once their basic care was done so that they can get some mental stimulation rather than being lined up along the hallways or put in a large group area.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Following her hospitalization, my grandmother moved in to Hale Nani. Hale Nani is an older facility; clean. They have several activities scheduled for each day, which varies. The nurses and NAs are very friendly, but I feel like they do not give enough attention to each resident. Each bed is equipped with a button to call a nurse for assistance. This button lights up a sigh outside the room, and makes a loud beeping noise. The halls are constantly noisy it seems that the nurses are inattentive, uncaring, and lazy. For my grandmother, who needs help walking, help getting to the bathroom, the wait for an attendant can be painful. Aside from that, the nurses are quite friendly, they style my grandmother's hair and paint her fingernails which she enjoys a lot. Aside from this interaction, they allow her to choose whether she wants to go outside or stay in; so she spends most of her time in bed, though I have asked them to take her outside from time to time. The selection of food is decent; standard cafeteria fare, but special requests can be made with ease, and prepared lunch can be brought in early for the nurses to serve instead.

I was impressed by the professionalism and caring attitude that this facility brings in the care my (japanese grandmother) no relation- has gotten to being her permanent residence. I have known this woman for over 12 years and seen her through her stay at this facility making weekly visits. The thoughtful staff has made her stay comfortable knowing she is well cared for.
