While this facility looks nice from the outside and the area it is in, RUN, this facility is almost non existent with caring employees. If you choose this facility, drop in at all hours day and night and check everything in your loved ones room and their body. Do your own laundry, many articles of value stolen when supposedly they were going to launder, but, never returned! This facility has lawsuits and health violations ongoing. Food is cold, not nutritional, never enough and served on filthy carts. A “few” caring LPNs, but, not necessarily knowing how to do things; most aides (several when asked to help will be threatening to you, very intimidating, are lazy and never check on residents, no hand washing,, nothing antibacterial in room for resident bed bound that can be used on hands prior to eating, even if begging for such! Rooms are nasty, feces, urine on floors in bathroom, takes days to get someone to even clean a little better than how they found! LPNs come into room for meds only, may take 6 hours or so for anyone to step in a room from the start of their shift, lack of care, professionalism, some just lazy, possibly a few not trained properly! Director will not return phone calls, she seems to be the problem there, unwilling to address urgent concerns, leaving residents in harm’s way and lack of essential care. Seen things dropped from nursing cart and nurse continues to use on residents. Covid hit facility with no real protocols in place, seems to be lacking in Infectious disease control. If an emergency arises with a resident, these people really don’t know what to do and what they might do is dismissive/inaccurate! They do not get to know their patients as they should, therefore, not knowing what is normal or not, causing more major problems. You have to be hands on, sadly, to make sure your loved one stays okay!! This facility is a horror story, do not place a loved one here! So much more to add….

Terrible. My mom went there for respite, and was allowed to fall hard out of bed, and we found she had a UTI (which causes dementia symptoms in older people) and I went in the check on her and the absolute delight of a woman who was supposed to be working the front desk, checking in visitors and warning them that they had an outbreak of norovirus (which she absolutely did not, ever once) was literally mocking my mother and making fun of her, imitating her voice like she was Goofy from Disney/slow, dumb because she (again, raging UTI dementia symptoms) was calling out for her sister because the staff was ignoring her. Absolutely abysmal, and flagrantly bad, mean people.

Very clean facility, great staff, food not the best. First facility entered and didn't smell urine. My only complaint is that the night nurse did not produce the DNR nor provide the name of the hospital. AND lastly, the facility has yet to call.and see how my dad is doing🤔. NOT a fan of SNF because all they are all."money grabbers"😉

My mother and father were brought to the facility when my father was diagnosed with end stage cancer. The people in this facility were caring and wonderful with the care that they gave them both during this time. My mother remained there after my fathers death due to her physical restrictions. All of the staff was wonderfully caring with her, even though she had mental health issues as well. At the end of my mothers life the staff was considerate of my families needs and wishes. These people went above and beyond the requirements of their work statuses. They truly loved and cared for my mother, and that is not something that can be bought. The gentleness and concern for her and us was amazing. I received a call almost immediately from a staff member that had left for the day, but felt the need to call me and grieve with me when she had passed. I cannot say enough good things about this facility and it's staff. I would recommend it to anyone.

When staff is available they are attentive, respectful and friendly. Took approx 6hrs to get diaper changed. The food is usually cold. Room is a good size but wasn't cleaned. During our 5 day visit. Patient there more than 2 wks and still no shower. Disappointed!

We chose Darby Glenn Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for my mom because it actually was the cheapest and they took her insurance, while the others did not. They're very caring and very responsive, so it's been excellent. It's a good place. It's very clean, very modern, and it's just two or three years old. I am very pleased with the treatment she's gotten so far, and the therapy program is really good. The staff is also excellent and very knowledgeable. Food is OK, much better than hospital food, but they don't have a chef like some of the others do. Some days the food is really good, other days not so good, but she gets meats, vegetables, and fresh fruits, so it's not that bad. My mom gets total care. So, she gets three types of physical therapy, and they give the medicines on time. She has a big room, a picture window, and overlooks a nice green space with very pleasant and friendly people, and good nurses, but like everybody else, they're having trouble keeping staff.

The positives first, the facility is in decent condition, the rooms are a nice size, most of the staff is friendly. I cannot speak to the activities offered. The cleaning protocols need increased, cleaning a room once a week does not seem adequate and if so a deep clean would be called for, not a mopped floor. Each client is supposed to review the menu and make selections but this process is a joke. It is shocking if what is served is actually what was offered on the menu. They are often "out of" food and substitute the craziest things. The quality of whatever is served is poor at best. Medication management needs to be monitored closely by family, many times charts are not updated with new prescriptions, medications not given etc. Daily hygiene is not a priority, residents are said to be able to choose when they are bathed but that is not true, they are given a two days a week based on the hall they are in and often times that is skipped because staff are passing it off to the next shift. The PCAs are overwhelmed and doing too much. Admin does not seem to care about the issues presented to them, as long as they get their money, the rest doesn't matter. Please do not place your family member in this facility and walk away assuming they are in good hands, frequent visits is a must and stay in close contact with staff. They are nice but they do need to constantly be monitored.

My mom is in Darby Glenn Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for a month now. They're OK. The staff is very, very kind. The rooms are big, but they don't clean them every day. Somebody recommended this facility to us. The staff is very nice and helpful. There's different wings, one for rehab, and some for long-term care.

My Husband was at Darby Glenn for rehabilitation from results of a vehicle accident he is also a diabetic and is on dialysis. He arrived at Darby Glenn from the hospital on a Friday night and 5 days later he was sent back to the hospital, because they didn’t do dialysis for 4 nights 😩 He does it at home himself, and they would not listen to him trying to help them out. I was on the phone with him for 1 hour and his dialysis machine alarm was going of off the whole hour before anyone responded. And he had push his call button before calling me. they called me telling me he was being non compliant..Lol. left him laying in bed. Would take forever to answer his call button. Almost killed him not doing dialysis! As far as the rehabilitation staff he never had a chance to get start 😢

My brother was moved to Darby Glenn for skilled rehab after a prolonged illness and transfers back and forth from hospitals. At Darby Glenn, he received excellent care. The attending providers were able to manage his multiple complex chronic medical problems, including brittle diabetes. Nurses were skilled in caring for his many medical issues including challenging urinary catheter and complex wound with wound vac. Therapists were able to meet him where he was in his physical, emotional and mental compromise after such a hospitalization and to draw him into active participation in his therapy and recovery. Aides, dietary and other staff were kind and capable in their care. I was most impressed with the social worker who effectively followed up on care details that had fallen through the cracks after the hospitalizations. Communication with the staff was easy; calls were promptly returned and answers provided. What speaks volumes is that my brother has had to be re-hospitalized and is hoping to return to Darby Glenn when he is ready for discharge. He feels the staff there "really cares".

My father was at Darby Glen for 12 days. Too many people were in wheelchairs !!On the last day they called me at 8:30 pm to say the sent him to the hospital because his sugar levels were up to about 400!! And he was real claming. And his oxygen was low. When I got to the hospital the doctor said dad had a blood clot in his lung! And he's not doing well. He passed away later that night. The nursing home had him in a wheelchair all the time . He should have had his legs up more then theydid. Dad always used walker before going there! They had a old chair that next to his bed that he could put his legs up in but dad couldn't do it on his own . I brought his lift chair to Darby Glen and he looked happy because he was more comfortable. The doctor was surprised to hear almost all the patients were I. Wheel chairs ! A few of his nurses cared.but him . A few other men and dad said it took too long before a aide came in to help him to bathroom .

My mother stayed at this facility after a lengthy hospital stay and major surgery to have a colostomy bag put in place. She is diabetic, a dialysis patient and has issues with her blood pressure dropping. This is not the facility for this type of care. To be honest I am not sure there is one available anywhere. The PT and OT was wonderful. They helped her gain her strength back and they were very considerate of her limitations. Dietary needs and health care needs were another story. She very seldom received the meals she ordered, even though they were on her dietary restricted menu. The care and the training she needed for her colostomy bag was very poor. She had to keep asking for training for changing the bag and she never got it. Even though her medical orders were to have the bag changed every 3 days it didn't happened. The last week she was there it was never changed. As a result it broke in the middle of night. She pushed the nurse call button and used her walker to go the bathroom to try to change the bag herself. She fell. We weren't called my mother told us later that day. She is on a blood thinner and should have been taken to the hospital but that didn't happen. Instead they released her for home the next day. She is back in the hospital because of excessive bleeding from the fall.

My father was at the facility following a hospital stay. He was not at the facility more than 5 days and had to be transported back to the hospital because his sugar level dropped at 27 and he was unresponsive. Then once the hospital got his levels under control he was sent back to the facility and with-in a week PT broke his knee. They tried to push him to hard and made him do an exercise he told them he could not do. It then took the facility several days to x-ray the knee. We had problem with them following his special dietary needs. If you have a major food allergy I would not recommend this facility. If you have medical needs I would not recommend this facility. Maybe if you need minimal care, but if you needed that you would not be in a facility like this.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was in Darby Glenn for three weeks, and they kicked me out because I could not beat PT 06. They required me to do PT because it insurance coverage. Because I could not do PT rehab after 13 days, they got rid of me. I had a problem with one of the aides, and they took care of it immediately. I had a big problem with getting my meds correctly. That was a battle. One of my meds cost $2,000 a piece, and they said they never had them. So, that was a major aggravation. I stayed in just an ordinary room. I was in a hospital bed, and everything was OK there, but the food was inedible. I lived on eggs and oatmeal.

I visited this facility

I’m volunteering at a place called Darby Glenn. I am so impressed with the way that they dress the residents. They make sure they’re color coordinated and nicely dressed. I love the fact that they offer so many activities. In the morning time, they can look at the newspaper, then at 10:30, we bake cookies and have coffee for them. There are just a lot of things that are open to the residents. There’s church meetings for Catholic, Methodist, Jehovah Witnesses, etc., so they get their spirituality taken care of. However, based on the cost, I could not recommend Darby Glen. I love how I get to work with the people who are immobile, but their price is higher than where my aunt is right now. The food is really good. I eat my lunches there. They have a main kitchen, and in every dining room, they have what’s called servery, too, with different foods. The rooms are quite large even for those who are in wheelchairs and have recliners and refrigerators. They can have different things in their rooms.

I visited this facility

The facility has a very good staff to patient ratio. Recently they have added on a new building that is state-of-the-art. I enjoyed speaking to the representatives and nursing staff about their approach to care; they seemed to take my inquiries seriously and believe that my questions were valid. We were also able to observe a meal service . . . This was one of my greatest fears, as my elderly family members do sometimes have trouble with eating. The staff was courteous and professional, and the quality of food was much better than many nursing homes I have looked into.
