Very Clean facility compared to most everyone Ive ever seen. Matnience lacks I request her tv hung day 1 2 years later still sits where it started, Cleaning department misses alot of skin cells , dusting and really should change bedding and mom more often these patients cant do for themselves. Nurses seem somewhat friendly but really not up on meds or what ect.. Book keeping lacks my mother has had things taken also' Hair salon is wonderful for the patients & activities. Not perfect but by far the best place in the area, To bad workers arent more trained and caring :O(

My mother had been in two other nursing facilties, prior to coming to The Courtyard. I can honestly say that I am most impressed with the services that she has received here. She has been at The Courtyard for over a year now. I fully expected to have some transition issues when she first moved in. (That is just reality when moving to a new facility....it's an adjustment for everyone - the family, the patient, and the staff!) It did take some time for the staff to become familiar with her routine, but I will say that they have done a remarkable job. My mother has always been a woman who kept to herself, and in the two prior facilities she mostly stayed in her room (her preference). However, from the first day that she moved into The Courtyard, the staff has encouraged her to participate in activities, outings, and she even eats all of her meals in the dining room. She has literally become a social butterfly....and I love that. I especially love the fact that she gets to choose what she eats at every meal. They offer so many choices and the food is wonderful. I have eaten many meals there and never had a bad one. All in all, I would recommend this facility to anyone. It is very clean, the staff is friendly, and I never worry when I go home after my visits. I know that they will take good care of Momma.

THIS IS NOT A PLACE FOR A LOVED ONE!!
My mother was moved to the Courtyard of Hewitt on Feb 2, 2010 from Temple Continuing Care Center in Temple because they said they could care for my mother. She was a room by her self at the end of the hall across from the exercise room. She had to have help in and out of bed and help going to the bathroom. Well she was there a week before she had her first shower, because they only do that once a week. Well had came in after baths were already given, so she would have gone two weeks if I had not made a fuss about the length of time. So I gave her bath. I had to drive 3 hrs come in on Friday and leave Sundays. This was every weekend. She was there 2 weeks and I get a call that she had fallen in the bathroom getting of the toilet, because they didn't lock the wheel chair correctly, one side was not locked. No injuries thank god! Third weekend I arrived Saturday morning at 9:30 she was crossways in the bed and she had been in that position for 2 hours and she had wet herself, the call button was on the floor, I was really upset. I pushed the call button and started cleaning her up. Got her back in bed and sat there and waited for someone to come to the room. I waited and waited. I walked out in the hall and you could her the button going off at the nurses station. It was 10:30 when I walked up to the nurses station and asked them what was taking the so long to answer. I didn't get any response from any of the nurses. They acted like it was no big deal. As I was leaving to go back to the hotel for the night I was walking up to the nurses station as I was leaving, I over heard the nurses talking about drinking, they were having a taste testing of Irish Crème in the small blue cups that they use for the patients. The next day was Sunday morning she was still sleeping and it was 9:00 am. I was almost 1:00 before I could get her awake to eat lunch. It was like she was druged. I asked the nurses for a list of her meds. I had to ask the nurses several times for the list. Later that day she was telling me that her g-tube was hurting really bad. I notice that her g-tube had not been cleaned and the dressing had not been changed. Called it to the nurses attention and they didn't know that it had to be check. What's up with that?? I had to take her to the emergency room that night. The hospital sad that the g-tube was starting to get infected. I took her back to the courtyard and told the nurses and to make sure the doctor checked it. The next weekend I arrived at the Courtyard my mother was so druged that I couldn't wake her and my aunt was coming to set with her during the week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. She was also the some way. She started questioning the nurses and asking for the doctor. But the doctor never came around. The last week she was there she got dehydrated and throwing up. I could not get anyone there to help her. All they kept saying was that she was ok. The last day she was there, my aunt was there with her and she was really sick. My aunt called the nurses and the doctor finally came to her room to see her, my aunt told the doctor that she had been throwing up all week and the nurse tried to tell the doctor that she had not been throwing up, my aunt stepped in and told the doctor that the nurse was not telling the truth. He check my mother over and said she needed to go to see her doctor. So the doctor left to get her chart and my aunt said he did not come back. My aunt called me and said she had to leave to go to another patient and for me to make the appt for her. I was not 5 mins. Later when the Courtyard called me and said my mother was going to the hospital, that they had to call an ambulance. She had suffered a heart attack This was Feb 24, 2010. That weekend me and my brother went to clean out her room and by this time she had a room mate for about a week. Her room mate said she was real sick all week. The nurses did nothing about it, that had keep her druged up. My moms roommate said that she went to physical therapy was gone about 30mins. When her roommate got back to the room my aunt had just left the center and the nurses were bring her back to the room. My moms roommate told the nurses to check on my mom because she was turning blue. Then they called the ambulance. The nurses and doctor did not come back to check on my mom when my aunt let the center. She ended up being the hospital until March 23, 2010 were she passed away. When she got to the hospital she had a real bad intestinal infection. When she first got there to the center she was on her way to recovery, she had been sick seen November 2009 with heart problem. This place is not fit for anyone, I just wondering how many other people, mothers, fathers, or grandparents have suffered at the hands of this center. I am looking for others with complants on this center. They need to be reported.

My mother -in -law (81) has been in this facility for 4 1/2 days. So far they have yet to get her medication right. Thanfully my sister-in-law was there to help get her setteld when the medication nurse came in. When asked about the meds about to be dispensed, the nurse became very unpleasant with my family. Good thing the questuion was asked, they were about to dispense 4 times the prescribed dose of 1 of her medications. They have yet to get the breathing medications correct. My mother - in - law requires assistance to get up and use the bathroom,( doc's orders ) they are aware of this. Sometime during the night she was told to LAY THERE AND PEE ON HERSELF!!!!!! They would come and change her when they got a chance. This is not RIGHT!!!!!! I would not recommend this facility at all.

My father was here for 15 days and ended up the hospital for dehydration and malnurishment. Plus, he had a pressure ulcer on his bottom which was never regarded as an issue to them. It's infected now. He was kept in a wheel chair for 13 hours even asking to be taken to his bed for a nap. While the staff is friendly, they do not meet the patients needs. I would not recommend this facility for anyone that cannot speak or take care of themselves.
