I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was a resident at Fairlawn for 18 years. She was treated with compassion, love and respect the entire time. The staff were kind and friendly. The staff kept the family informed about what was happening with her and what they were doing to improve the quality of her life. She was happy at Fairlawn. Thank you!

This is Not a rehab center. They offer therapy 3-4 times a week and do not support clients building strength to go home. They remove skills the person has and leave them sitting in a chair all day rather than allowing them out to get exercise and social interaction. It’s detrimental emotionally and physically. Mom went there walking 1 mile a day, and within a week there was limited to no walking and has now reduced endurance to 30 feet. This place ages people. Most staff don’t speak to residents, they are sat at individual tables in the dining area with no socializing. It’s not for someone who just needs strength and skills fine tuned to return to independent living.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm living in Good Samaritan Society Fairlawn Village and my experience has been awesome. The people here are absolutely wonderful, they're kind, very helpful, and that would include staff and residents. If I have a need or a concern, maintenance comes right away. It's just been a wonderful place to be. I'm independent living so I've only chosen to use their dining twice. They have the option where I can purchase my food and it would be delivered. Right now we're not using the cafeteria because of the pandemic; everybody is eating in their own space. I have ordered their food twice and it's been good both times. There's one staff person here who you can tell when she's having a bad day, but other than that everyone has been awesome. When it rains there's stagnant water, but other than that, everything is awesome. It would be really nice if it was less expensive, but in comparison to other places that I've checked in, it's a good deal.

I visited this facility

My tour at Good Samaritan Society Fairlawn Village was good, although it wasn't as thorough as the one at the other place. We learned a lot, the staff was very helpful, they're very friendly and professional. The rooms were very clean and nice, we looked at studios instead of apartments. The pricing was actually higher than the studios we looked at at the other community. They had quite a bit of activities and they also have a bus to take the residents on tours or shopping. They have an area with puzzles and computers or what they call the rec room.

I really liked Good Samaritan. We are on a waiting list, but we can’t afford to move in right now. They do a lot of stuff that revolve around the church. They had everything, like a little store and a library. The dining area was really nice, and the food was good.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My dad is in the rehabilitation services at Fairlawn. Now, he is going into the skilled nursing because he went home for one day, and he had another fall and two more breaks. He receives good care. The RNs do a very good job. I will recommend it. There is nothing bad about them. I think that he has good care, and I am happy with the care. It is clean, and I have no complaints about it. Every time you need something, they are right there. This is the best one, and he is in his own private room.

I am a friend or relative of resident

You know when it comes to the time when a plan has to made for one of your parents, of course you want the best. Well, first of all there is no such thing as "the best".Pretty much all the staff here are nice, friendly, and are willing to do what you need. I have a problem with the "button,-,patience response time". what I mean is this, say if the patience needs asst with going to the restroom, he/she pushes the "button" and waits for the "response" from one of the team members. One night I time the time it took from pushing the button for asst until someone finally came in to help for bathroom 32 MINUTES! AND THIS WAS IN THE EVENING. Not the first time either. My opinion more activities in the evening, should be able to go to the other "LODGE"

It's a nice, homey, little place and it's faith-based and I really, really like it. I think that's probably where I would go because the fees are not astronomical and you don't have to pay like hundred thousand dollars to get into it. It's just a little simple place but the care is great and I had friends that have lived there and had died there. It's a simple little place live out your life because you could stay there until you die. The place is very good. The staff are sweet people and they just care about the residents. It's right across the street from the Church that I really, really like

A Hospital Social Worker

I visited this facility

This small facility for about 50 residents offers both skilled nursing and memory care; all the residents are housed together. Many of the rooms are shared, although a few are private. Once inside them, there's nothing special but a TV and pictures; there's the look and feel of an institutional hospital room. The whole place is rather chaotic; not a very inviting atmosphere. One high point here is a resident poodle that many residents seem to enjoy. But while the residents often congregate in the hallway, there are no real cozy gathering spots for them. There isn't much in the way of scheduled activities for them beyond sing-alongs. The food is very basic and bland, without many choices offered daily. The worst aspect, though, is the staff, who seem territorial and unapproachable, and rather bitter. In fact, there is a generally low morale among staff members, many of whom seem sour. I have witnessed staff members yelling at residents and no one interceded to redirect the staff. The orders for meds are sometimes not used properly. No one showed any compassion for a resident who was crying. The social worker doesn't work easily with outside agencies. There have also been some problems with billing which is tendered and sometimes greatly raised, but not itemized. The cost, which can be as high as $10,000, is high for the area.
