The Villages Independent living Community was not what they promised it to be when I went for a tour. They have a great sales pitch but once you sign the contract beware. The facility is dark, dreary and very out dated with decor. The bank isn't open everyday. They are not supportive and do not help in anyway with the Home care hours that are suppose to be free per month. You can not get on the schedule by design. If you have a loved one who needs additional support as aging folks often do, do not expect to have anyone help you get the support needed. When we have asked for resources they do not have any to give. The apartments are spacious but windows do not insulate well. My monthly BGE bill was $600.00 for the month of December and slightly less than that in January. I never paid that living in a 4 bedroom single family home. The food is decent, however the culture that goes on in the restaurant is not a positive one in fact, I would describe some of the interactions I have seen as mean. Most residents are friendly. In a world that is technological, you can not pay your bills online. Bill paying is all paper and they don't even provide you with an envelop. Again, very outdated. They charge extra for everything and that is how they can offer a lower monthly rent. So be sure you add all the extras up like laundry, cleaning, etc. The medical system for PCP's is mediocre and do not think that you will be well taken care of medically. I have a lot more to say but I recommend that you look at other places before you sign on the dotted line. We moved into a place that was slightly more money per month but it included so much more. I would not even give one star if I had an option.

Beware! This place has lower rent fees but will nickel and dime you. Staff shortages affect home care services and food services and resturants.

This facility is a money grabber and charges for every little thing. The facility is old and in need of new windows. My hearing via electric for the month of December was over $600. When you visit everyone in the hall speaks and says hello but several staff are unfriendly and unhelpful. Nothing is current as far online bill pay or activity calendars or sign ups for transportation or trips. There are many other facilities that will cost the same or less with many more amenities! The culture is odd so be sure you do your research.

The environment in this senior living community is very unfriendly. T here are a few staff members who are kind but several that are not kind at all especially in those in charge of the food services and home services. The facilities are not in the best shape.

Really research this place. They sell you on certain items but when you move in they make it difficult for you to get the amenities promised. The culture is odd where staff and residents gossip and share information about residents. Some staff are very nice and others are cold and unpleasant. The food is mostly good but the restaurant isn’t open everyday and food isn’t available readily everyday. They are not transparent about billing and don’t provide an itemized bill on resident spending within the community.

The Village (St. Barnabas Health System) was a very large facility, and I was very impressed. I liked the apartments and they have a lot of activities. They have a post office, a bank, and a beauty salon. It was very impressive. It was a little remote, though, for me. It was more out of the country, more of a rural area, but it was lovely. They have Bridge games and a lovely swimming pool. The woman who took me around was very lovely and very thorough. The building was nice and updated.
