I am a 75-year old man who has been handicapped with a dropped left foot for 9 years. Because of a serious illness unrelated to walking with a walker, I found myself in Lake Manassas rehab. The facility has some good, some bad features. I was just discharged at my stay at Lake Manassas after 1-1/2 weeks of therapy. My duration there was affected by coronavirus. The good parts are most of the nurses aids who were delightful. But a few aids were unhelpful, obnoxious, and scolding. The occupational theapy was done by mostly a student which I liked. The physical therapy was good, I suppose, but there was a conflict between the therapist's personality and mine. She, the physical therapist, would talk but not listen. She gave me lengthy lectures every day on the same subject, was very critical of my performance each day, and dismissed myformer ability to cope in many things. For example, I worked full-time from 2013 to 2019 when I retired. In her opinion the rest of my life would consist of walking 35 feet with a walker to the bathroom, then after resting return to my chair for another 35 feet. Somehow this distance became my "goal" so that I was discharged after 1- 1/2 weeks stay. My remaing life is not just going to the toilet. Previous to my hospitalization I could walk very far with a walker, and participate in many outside activites. I had planned to go to NOVA to pursue another college degree prior to the pandemic. Many organizations will return operation in September (I expect) that I plan to rejoin. In my opinion I was released too soon from Lake Manassas because my walking skills are far from what they were, I lack balance with a walker, unable to climb into bed, unable to don my clothes easily, walk up stairs, and do any housework as before. I blame the physical therapist for discharging me too soon. Arriving at home today, I am afraid for my safety for walking with a walker without assistance and for most other tasks without assistance (none is available at home). Tips: • Rooms are spacious, with one patient in a room but one bathroom for two patients. • Interactions with staff mostly good, but an occasional slacker or sourpuss. • Activities are non-existent during pandemic. Rules are being loosened: dining room opened for meals, outside visitors now are able to visit with appointment. But the patients nor staff are advised of these recent changes so few take advantage of them. • Amenities are few. Patients are required to stay in their assigned rooms. No visiting gym after hours for exercising. No visiting any other part of the facility. (Might become more liberal as covid-19 decreases with vaccinations.) • Food. Overall, better food than most similar facilities. But expect all food to be delivered cold and beware of the undistinguished hamberger patties that are passed off as all sorts of better-sounding entrees. For example: Salisbury steak, beef tips, meatballs, pepper steak, and more. There is both a "sandwich of the day" and a "soup of the day" option that is unknown -- order these in addition to other menu items; when either arrive taste and eat or discard according of what either might be. Yesterday I discarded a bologna sandwich (no way to know what the sandwich is) and today I discarded a bowl of vegetable soup as the tomato broth was too sweet and cloying to suit me. • For those who like spicy food, bring your spice with you from home; or bring condiments such as soy sauce, vinegar, Dijon mustard, hot sauce, etc. • Beverages offered are diet ginger ale (the only diet drink), several sugared sodas, skim milk, and water. Several juices may be served as part of meals: orange juice, cranberry juice, apple juice. • Bathrooms are supposed to be ADA compliant but there is doubt in my mind. Door to bathroom is too narrow for a wheelchair to easily pass through, hand hold bars on walls awkwardly placed, no bar on left side of toilet (facing seated), toilet height is too low but a flimsiy plastic seat can be placed on floor to raise height, shower is walk-in but shower seat is not built in, and sink and counter is too high without standing up (wheelchair too low), same for soap dispenser and paper towel dispenser on wall. • Value rating asked below: I can't respond as my entire bill is being paid by Medicare and my supplementary insurance so that I don't know what the facility charges Medicare.

I have recently had Rehab in Lake Manassas Health and Rehab Center. The center was very clean and well organized. The patients were well taken care of and watched out over by all of the staff. The rehabilitation staff is very good with the exercises to help get the body strong again and helping with the exercises. The food is very good and served in a nice and clean dining room. The staff In the facility was very congenial and respectful to each other and all of the patients in the facility. This was just a very nice even though I was trying to heal and get better it was just enjoyable to be there with everybody helping an nice to each other.

We had chosen a place for my mom but she had passed away. She was at Lake Manassas Health and Rehab. There's a lot of phone communication and through-the-window communication with them. They were very responsive. If I had an issue, they were quick to address it with the staff. I think they took really good care of Mom. My mom was there for two months. We did get to go in the morning that Mom started having seizures. That's the one thing that I love about this place is that they let me and my dad come in and visit her the day before she passed away. We had to do everything like temperature, put on masks, gowns and gloves, but we got to go in and be with her. It was great. Very clean, very organized, and bright. It looked like a great place. It was during COVID, we couldn't get in there to help out with Mom. Her room was very nice. It was a single room with a shared bathroom, with a woman next to her. Their shower and the bathroom were in there, so they didn't have to go down the hall. I talked to the front office more than I got to talk or meet the other staff. They were excellent. I thought the value for money was excellent. I know that they have activities person (activities director), and that they had calendars up but because of COVID, they couldn't mingle. The best thing about this place is that they only have one case of COVID.

Lake Manassas is a rehab place and I would rate them a zero. If you're doing your therapy and you get to a point where you say, "No, I can't do it anymore." they put it down as "refused." When you have five refusals in a row, Medicare says to move to some other place to live. Our uncle's room there was OK, but the people were really nasty all the time. They have a lot of facilities for the residents, but my uncle didn't make use of them. The staff was rude, not helpful, they couldn't help him, and they couldn't understand them. He was hard of hearing, and they were leaving his hearing aides in at night, and the batteries would go dead. So I would go there every two days to put batteries in his hearing aides because they didn't take them out at night. They would ask him to do something, and he would look at them not understanding what they wanted him to do and he'd say, "No". Then they would turn around and walk out, leaving him in the middle of what they wanted him to do. They wouldn't even put the sheets and blankets back because they would just leave. They're less than adequate. For some people the community was good, but not for him because he wasn't ready to do the exercises they had for him.

I was impressed with the facility the first time I visited it before placing my brother there. The staff and supporting members are all very polite and caring. My brother had wonderful care and was shown love as though he were a member of the family. The single room, yet community dining offered the best of both worlds. It's a wonderful facility with all the necessary amenties, inculding barber shop are availble to the patients. May you continue to offer support and care to others who find their way there.

Lake Manassas Health & Rehabilitation Center was OK at best. The appearance looked clean. The staff seemed pretty good. They helped my dad with everything from bathing, to changing clothes, to going to the bathroom, to eating meals. They have a little bit of physical therapy. They kept the room pretty clean, but the place looked more like an institution. They needed to work on attentiveness.
