I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We had a virtual tour, informational session and assessment with my 91-year-old Father in law. He was "a great fit" for their Assisted Living wing. We paid our deposit plus first month's rent, and moved him in. His room was literally 80 degrees in the evenings with no way to cool it down but a fan, and asking for someone to open his window every day which was a chore for them to do. After 9 days, and and a very suspicious situation which led to a trip to Strong Hospital for my FIL, they quit taking our calls or answering our questions. Someone we'd never spoken to before from FBH finally called us to say they decided they couldn't care for him afterall and that he needed to move out. Wow. Appalling and totally unethical.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father moved into the Fairport Baptist Homes. I haven't been able to see him. I just talked to him on the phone, but he seemed to be happy with it. The staff were very good; they are very nice people. He said he was comfortable, and he said the food was good. Dad seems to think it's overpriced. The move-in was easy.

Fairport is very well layed out and very clean. Personnel were very accommodating. They do not have any beds at this time, but they have a choice of private and semi-private rooms. My husband was there for a few weeks in the rehab unit, and the food was very good.

Fairport Baptist Homes was just nice. People seemed nice, the menus were fine, everybody seemed good, and it seemed to be updated quite a bit. They had activities going on all day like different groups and games, and it seemed to be a nice atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and nice. I had no problems at all with the help. It was very nice, and I think they have done a wonderful job.

I visited Fairport Baptist Homes. The place was OK, and we didn't see any problems. The staff is friendly, but they are just too expensive.

I visited this facility

Fairport Baptist Homes had more of a nursing home style set up. I did not want my parents to think that they're going to a nursing home. However, the residents seemed pretty comfortable. I'm happy with the people that I talked to and the rooms that we visited. They had a dining room set up and a small area where you could go in if you want to have family visit or just sit down and have something to snack on.

My 96 year old mom has been at FBH 2 weeks for rehab. We have been through a number of other providers through my dad's illness and mom's need for rehab over the last few years and I can honestly say we have not found any place that equals FBH's level of caring and accommodation. The staff is patient, responsive, forthcoming, and happy to share information yo help make the experience a positive one. Two weeks ago, I couldn't imagine that my mom, who had been weakened by a string of illnesses, could be so improved ... off oxygen, walking 100+', and smiling again. She wants to bring her therapist home wirh her. She is clear-thinking (no sundowner's dementia which always happened elsewhere), calm and contented ... an atmosphere that aptly describes FBH. We're so happy FBH had an opening when mom needed one. Thank you all.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother lives at FBH in Fairport NY, in their highest level of assisted living environment (step below Nursing Home). I am in contact with her almost daily. Suffering with Parkinson's, we sought out assisted living 4 years ago. Compared to other places she stayed at briefly, where the commotion was more like a hospital setting, we find FBH to be a place of calm and rest. This definitely helped bring mom's condition under control. Having her own suite with a kitchenette really allows some independence to remain. No place is perfect but the staff has been kind and willing to work through concerns. Overall, they provide a safe environment and a nice facility with a feel of home. My only complaint would be the lack of activities for residents at my mom's level of care. It would be nice if more was done to organize games and such among her and other residents. She once was very social and not able to initiate that any longer.

Provider Response

Thank you for your kind words regarding Assisted Living at Fairport Baptist Homes. We have a robust schedule of activities offering afternoon and morning programs as well as activity aides who do regular one-on-one sessions. We encourage residents to participate particularly when they have a condition such as Parkinson’s. However, they do maintain control over their daily schedules -- they can be as independent and involved as they choose.

I visited this facility

I liked what I saw at Fairport Baptist Homes. I liked that they had small communities that held a maximum of 12 people and each had their own room. The residents went to the dining room and were seated with the same 12 friends or residents for each meal. Right off the dining room was a living room type setting that looked out over a courtyard. One of the features that I liked about the bathroom was that there were doors on both the bedroom side and the bathroom side, so they could access their medicine from both sides, which was a great idea. The activities were listed in a central location. There were people on their way to a chapel for quiet time. I found the staff responsive and cordial to the residents. It had a nice setting outside where people could walk. It was very safe, and they had nicely manicured lawns.

Facility is being renovated, which is nice. Would have liked more staff interaction with residents, to spend time with those who are lonely or need some reassurance. Could possibly make use of some volunteers?

My mom entered the facility initially for rehab after a stroke, however she soon started to display Dementia. As a result, she was transferred to long term care. The staff at FBH has been amazing at both addressing my moms specific needs to trying to keep her constantly engaged. She has also developed personal relationships with many of her caregivers which makes the transition to not living independently so much better. They're community design with a kitchen and living room for each household, as well as the resident household cat that she loves, are just some of the many great features there. With rehab, medical and even psychological care provided, they are proactive at addressing all her needs. With all the less than desirable places that seniors end up, I'm so happy and grateful that my mom is helped and cared for by such a wonderful place. And I'm super uptight and protective about her and I feel completely comfortable with them tending to her. I'm so grateful that that's where she ended up. I highly recommend FBH!

Fairport is a nice facility, and the people are very nice. My father-in-law said the food is good, and experience is good too. It’s a fairly modern facility, it's clean, and the care seems really good. They have normal activities, it’s a nursing home, and the patients aren’t all together with it.

This care center offers a warm family type of caring you don't usually see. All employees were capable and then some. Interfacing with the work staff always gets you what you want, care and respect for your loved one.My only concern was the nursing staff being swamped, so I suggest you try to accommodate their time limitations when you have questions. They're doing their part, but you still have to do yours too. I used this facility a number of times for physical therapy, recovery for my mother and know some of their longterm staff who are terrific people , in and out of work.A good place!

Fairport Baptist seemed very nice. My sister-in-law's mother is in there and she seems to be very happy there. We did have my mom on a waiting list, but because of the room and the renovations, they're cutting back on skilled nursing home.
