I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Ants crawling out of air conditioner, hallways reek of urine, parent left unresponsive after UTI sample delayed. Disgusting! I will never send a loved one there again.

I visited this facility

My mother first went to the Carolton to recover from a broken hip. Five years later she fell and damaged the same hip again. She was bedridden. Carolton staff had to use a lift to move her. Within a few months they had her up and walking. Every time I visited, talking with her through an open window (due to Covid restrictions) she looked well cared for and happy. A few months later other family members had Mom moved to an assisted living facility that was unable to provide the level of care needed. Within one month Mom ended up in the hospital then died after a few days in a hospice. She spoke of the Carolton caretakers as warm and friendly. I wish she’d never been moved from there.

I visited this facility

My mother, in her 90's went to the Carolton after hip surgery. The staff had her soooo drugged up that her friends kept calling me horrified that my mother was out of it, not even being able to speak. I visited my mom 3 times, through a window and she was not dressed, bathed or up out of bed and it was 11:00 AM. She kept ringing the buzzer so that someone would come and help her to go to the bathroom and nobody responded. She was left all alone all the time, even when I was outside the window. One night, she fell. I got a call that she was going to be taken to the ER because she had fallen on the same side of her surgery and she had smashed her head against the wall. They said that someone had been walking by and saw her fall. The staff never responded appropriately to any of my concerns. They just said "well, we are not there 24/7 to take care of only your mother." My mother also got a urinary tract infection while she was there, probably because she soiled her diapers. My mother is able to go to the bathroom and does not even have to wear diapers but there yes and because they just don't want to respond to her having to go to the bathroom. Upon discharge, my mother had complaints that the aide that was helping her to get dressed smacked her. She came home addicted to pain killers with the shakes when I did not give her anymore. Physical therapy said that they needed to give her pain killers for therapy. However, there is no way she would be able to participate in any physical therapy with the amount of pain killers they were given her. Nobody is allowed in there because of COVID and they have nobody able to see how the Carolton is treating their patients. It was obvious to me that they are not doing anything for their patients except drugging them, putting them in diapers, and collecting the medicare pay. This is the most horrifying place for an elderly person to go to. I hope nobody has to go through this same experience.

I was a patient at the Carolton recently, while I was there I was treated with the utmost care and compassion I would expect. I would recommend them very highly for anyone who needs a place to recover. William Crittenden

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My loved one is in The Carlton. The food is as fine as it can be for a nursing home, I guess. The staff is OK. I like the proximity. It is close to me, and I think it is privately owned. They have activities like church services. They bring in music and dogs. They have social time. I guess they can improve probably on having more staff.

I am a friend or relative of resident

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL, I heard this was a great rehab facility but when my 90 year old mother with a debilitating problem was put there I found the staff to be very rough, rude and uncaring. The condition of the room was deplorable and the lack of professionalism unbelievable. If you have a loved one who needs gentle care and patience DO NOT SEND HER TO CAROLTON
