I toured Laclede Groves. It's pretty nice. I think the care was good. The food was okay. The staff were helpful. The facility was very nice. They had different classes, activities, and different levels of food. The amenities were pretty good. They could improve transportation though.

We are very impressed with the quality of care my FIL receives. His room is perfect for him and is always clean and odor free. The staff is amazing and all of his needs are attended to. They take them on JOY rides and out to lunch in small groups. He has never complained about any of the staff or services he is receiving. Memory care is a challenge at best and they handle him with great care and compassion. Highly recommend this facility.

Laclede Groves had everything I wanted, but their waiting list was long. It was very modern and very complete with a lot of options for fitness centers and swimming pools. The staff who assisted me with the tour was very good. The first time I visited, there was a luncheon and it was very good. They also indicated that if you had particularly special food needs like low sodium or low sugar, they would be able to accommodate that. The dining area was very modern, and very friendly, and they had several different dining areas also. The place was very well landscaped and well cared for. There were hiking trails throughout the facility.

I went to Laclede Groves. It's a very big place. I looked at it because my husband had friends in the independent living. I was there a couple of months ago. It was a very spacious place, and they had beautiful grounds. I just felt like they needed more help. You could hear people say, I need this, I need that, and nobody was coming. That kind of bothered me. The staff was very accommodating. It just wasn't appealing to me, and I didn't have a good feeling about it. They have all sorts of rooms. They have duo rooms if it's a couple, they have bigger rooms, studios, 1-bedrooms, and 2-bedrooms. The memory care is usually a studio, but it's spacious. Some of them have balconies, but I don't think the memory floor does. They have a calendar with all sorts of different activities for the month.

My mom currently lives at Laclede. My family and I are very unhappy with her living situation there. She is in their “Memory Care”, yet they do not help her with self-care like showering, dressing for the day, pajamas at night, denture care, on a consistent basis. We have spoken with several staff members there regarding these things, yet nothing changes. We have been told on numerous occasions that “the place isn’t perfect”. We are reminded of that on a daily basis! Our mom has been in the same clothes for up to five days. Showers are sporadic at best, and no specific staff member responsible. Our mom deserves more dignity, especially at a faith-based facility. I would not recommend Laclede to anyone. I do not feel that they care about any of our concerns. I wish they would take our concerns seriously, we don’t want to move my mom, it would be so difficult and confusing for her.

Laclede Groves is very professional and it has rooms available. The place is very clean, and they have assisted and skilled nursing. They have everything in terms of activities, they're very busy. The staff is very polite. They actually have a couple of different cafes for visitors and guests. The rooms were clean and spacious for our needs.

Laclede Groves was large, well cared for, and beautifully decorated. You can even have a completely separate house with all of your belongings and your car in the garage. Then, it progresses up to smaller apartments and higher levels of care even as far as care for people with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. They had lovely dining facilities that are centrally located. Even though the buildings were separate, some of them were connected to the dining area with walkways over the roadways. They do an excellent job of providing service. The people that I have known who live there have never complained about this community. It is also associated with a church group. They have a beautiful chapel, so people who wish to participate in a worship service can do that right there on the grounds and they don't have to travel somewhere else to go to church. I would certainly recommend them.

Laclede Commons is really good. It’s a big one too. They got all kinds of stuff going on there. They have massage therapy services available, a fitness specialist, and a bunch of activities. There’s a list of different things. The dining area is a good size.

My mother with dimensia broke her hip. Her care was superb. The care providers were loving. The therapy provided great results and was reinforced by the rest of the care providers. The facilities were very nice. Food was great.

Lutheran had a bed for my wife when she came out of the hospital and they gave her good care. The service in the nursing home part was very good. They had smart nurses and took good care of people. They thought about what they needed and physical therapy and other ancillary services were good. They knew when to call the doctor and when not to. It was a good place to be. They have a very old building and they've just put up a few hundred new units. Some parts were really beautiful and some were not so it's very variable depending on where you're at. They've got some very nice bungalows for independent living, 300 independent living apartments, assisted living, nursing element and Alzheimer's unit.

My mother is currently residing at Laclede Groves, and she's been there for about three years. The facility is very nice, with a beautiful chapel and plenty of social areas for residents to meet and visit. The rooms themselves are also quite nice, and I've heard good things about the houses outside of the main complex where more independent residents live. Initially, she was placed with a roommate, which wasn't ideal, but they moved her into a private room as soon as one was available. The staff organize a variety of activities, and it's a pretty self-sufficient community. There's even a place there for residents to get their hair cut. However, the food is pretty mediocre, and the main building is enormous, which can be very confusing for guests as well as residents with memory problems. My mother says that the staff is generally very friendly, and they allow her to keep her cat in the room, which she appreciates. However, some of the staff seem a bit overwhelmed, especially the pharmacist, who rushed my mother out the door as soon as possible and seemed impatient when she asked questions about her medications. Overall, I have a positive view of the place, but they could make a few improvements.

While in Missouri, we visited Laclede Commons as a possible option for our uncle. We were relatively unfamiliar with the area, but it was recommended by one of our uncle's friends whose relative had lived there. As we drove up, we could see that the grounds were well kept. The area seemed very safe and serene. The staff welcomed us and took us on a tour. The common areas were all nicely decorated and home-like. The furnishings all were comfortable and the residents looked like they got around with ease - even the ones who were using walkers. The common areas included rooms for socializing, reading, playing games and watching television. There were also private areas to visit with friends and family. They regularly take residents on outings in and around the community and encourage participation by everyone. There are exercise class instructors who conduct classes for all levels of fitness. Those who desire it, can also visit a local gym for the spa facilities. We really liked the dining rooms which featured both communal and private eating settings. The tables can be reserved for parties or gatherings, as well. It looked to us like our uncle could easily make new friends here and really enjoy himself. It was clear that the residents are well-cared for and quite happy in their environment.
