I visited this facility

The staff at Valley View Village seemed welcoming and the place was good. I needed an apartment for my son, also a one-bedroom, which they did not have available in the same building that I would be in. So I didn't really look further into it. They were updating their rooms and they looked good and accommodating. They were changing the carpet and I had requested if I could have laminated flooring throughout and they were willing to do that. Their dining area was good, but it depended where you were. You might have a bit to walk (my son would have been across the parking lot and you have to walk there for dining). The facilities would be good. It seemed like some of it needed to be updated, but it was clean. It was good.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Most of the daytime staff in memory care are attentive and want to help residents. Weekend and some night staff not so good -- maybe understaffed, maybe lazy and they wait for morning crew to arrive. Our relative experienced falls, lost items like eyeglasses, and it was "not Valley View's problem." Executive Director is bottom-line thinker, insincere. Scheduled "meetings" with administrative staff, resident and family were "have to do this" to make family feel Valley View is listening. So disappointed in this facility.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom has moved into Valley View Village. It's an open, friendly, clean environment. However, the least part of it is the inability to make a connection phone-wise without all kinds of extra intervention on the staff's part. I don't like the price, but I don't have any choice in that. It just seems high, but everybody is high. The staff are good at keeping me informed periodically on how my mom is doing. My mom doesn't eat much, but she says the food is good. She doesn't participate very often in activities, but they have lots of information on the activities that they provide. Their activities are just run-on-the-mill nursing home activities like bingo, card games, and things of that nature. My mom has a shared room. Each has an individual bedroom, but it's very small. With regards to amenities, they have a patio area and a cafeteria area. However, it's very, very expensive. Plus, they have additional charges just to take my mom to doctor's appointments off-site. You would think that would be included in the exorbitant amount that we pay every month, but that's an addition, too. In terms of location, it is near restaurants and shopping centers.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was at Valley View Village for two and a half weeks. It was a pretty good place. The people are very friendly and they're very helpful. The food is better than most restaurants. The P.T. that I worked with (I got therapy every day for about an hour) did a great job. I think there probably were activities offered, I just wasn't up for it right then. The only negative at all was that they don't provide transportation to doctor's visits, but that's a minor thing. That would depend on the individual's situation, whether that would even be something someone needed, but it seemed like I was always going to the doctor. The staff were all just great and there were just a lot of good things there.

My mother stayed at this facility from April 1 to June 3rd 2021 for physical rehab for 2 broken wrists. So my experience has nothing to do with there long term care. The facility is clean and well maintained, and the desk staff and nurse are all very nice. But the Admin staff is a nightmare regarding communications or just to try and speak to someone to ask questions about why our mother wasn't receiving adequate care. Days would pass before we would even receive a response and this occurred every time. Night staff is cut to a minimum for maximize profit, your loved ones will wait 15-20 min. after the call bell is pushed. I stayed several overnights and it was just due to low staffing for to many residents. This was not a good experience and it did not end well. I cannot recommend this place for any type of rehab.

My mom was a resident in the memory care unit at Valley View for 5 years She received excellent care and we were always able to see her day or night before Covid. Her private room was lovely. The activities staff member, Starr was awesome and during the covid probably her best friend. They also always kept us informed about everything about mom. Our mom passed away on Friday, December 11th.

We're moving in today to Valley View Village. We chose it because of cost, and we liked the apartment. It was spacious. The staff was very nice, very friendly, very helpful, and helped us every inch of the way to get things done and completed and ready to go. I questioned quite a few people and they said the food is good. They didn't have a problem with it. The apartment has a nice size kitchen, lots of cupboards and counters, a big bedroom, and a balcony with two ways through the bedroom or through the living room. We're very happy. There's a garage on the ground that goes with it, so we're pretty happy about that. You don't have to go out in the weather. It has a washer and dryer in the unit, so we don't have to go to the hall and use a washer and dryer that everybody else uses. There are some religious-based activities. With COVID, you don't get much now, but there's a workout place. The entrance to each hallway is very nice. There are pianos, tables, and couches.

The nursing staff at this facility do care about the residents, but at this times there are not enough staff to care for the residents properly. This is problem during the night shift, when residents are waiting 20+ minutes after they press the call button. Some nights there is only one staff member to take of 20+ residents and the call lights are unanswered for a long time. Meals are nutritious and tasty, but since moving into the new building, the kitchen is on a separate floor and they can only send a few plates at time via the elevator. Some residents are asleep when their meals arrive because the food arrives a half hour after the meal start time. While the nursing staff cares about the residents needs, the Executive Director and Business are corporate-minded and are more interested in dollars than resident needs. When the staff misplaces or breaks resident's property, like eyeglasses or hearing aids, management basically says "tough luck, not our problem".

Valley View Village has skilled nursing, long-term care, and assisted living. Where we toured for where mom would have been has a very nice, and pleasant atmosphere. The staff who assisted us were very helpful. The dining area was really pleasant. I was pleased with this facility because it is clean, nice, very inviting, and has a warm feeling. I would love to put mom in that facility.

The staff at Valley View Village was very helpful. The rooms were very nice and clean but a little pricey. The dining room was fine, and the rooms and the knowledge of the staff impressed me. The place was secured.

I visited this facility

Valley View Village has independent, assisted and care facilities. It's a new community. It's very well appointed, up-to-date, and very nice. They have very lovely dining room. We did see a lot of residents because we were there close to mealtime. Menus were very varied and looked very good. The residents were very friendly and even greeted my parents. They also have lots of planned activities for them. The staff was very helpful.

I visited this facility

The facility itself is nicely set-up it has both independent and assisted living options. As my mother-in-law is not as old as many who are either retiring or are going to these types of facilities, not having a traditional, "old folks home" vibe was important. The facilities are nice and the amenities are in line with much of what you would expect. Among the list of things that made us genuinely want to visit was the fact that they have a program for chronic pain care. My mother-in-law has had a back problem for years, and had some issues with pain medications, and is now in search of other methods of dealing with her back pain. The other major reason we wanted to visit was because of the Christian atmosphere it promotes. Overall, we enjoyed our tour and were pleased by everything we saw. While not extravagant, the facility and amenities were in line with what you would really expect and need. The biggest seller is not the facility, but that the residents seem and act happy. It is rare to go to facilities such as this and have such a wellspring of positivity. While we are still in the decision-making process for my mother-in-law, as she recently decided against a facility closer to where she lives. Valley View Village is currently on a very short list.

I visited this facility

A couple years ago, I visited a nursing home that my mother worked at. The exterior was very nice. There were nice gardens and benches that the residents could sit at on warm summer days. When I walked through the front doors, there was a nice sitting area with flowers arranged on numerous tables. The building was neat and decorated very beautifully. My mother took me on a tour of the living quarters. I was very disappointed after seeing the rooms that the elderly people slept in. They were very dull and crowded. There were two beds in one room and the beds were twin size. The rooms seemed outdated compared to the rather modern dining area and game rooms. The nursing home had different events throughout the week such as bingo, card games, and karaoke. I was able to attend lunch. I helped my mother bring some of the elderly people to the dining area. There were about ten tables. Each table sat about four people. The meals did not look very tasty to me. I chose not to eat. The staff was very friendly and they really seemed to care for the residents. Everyone had a smile on his or her face. I would say the positive definitely outweighed the negative.
