My cousin is in Manor Care Rehabilitation Center - Decatur. They seem to be very nice and caring people running the place. Most of the staff has been very kind and caring. They care about the people who are there. The meals I saw were good. The place is not fancy, but adequate. I've seen them clean often. They have a small courtyard out front. The reason we used it was because it was convenient to the hospital. It's an older facility but it's adequate.

My dad was at Manor Care Rehabilitation Center - Decatur. He just went in for physical therapy and after physical therapy, he was discharged after having COVID. He did not complain; he said he got very good treatment there as he relates to his physical therapy and whatnot, so I don't have any complaints. There were just positive words about physical therapy. They said they worked him out well, and when he got home, he said his legs were stronger after having been there working out with the physical therapy team. He was there for three weeks.

My gma was here for PT/OT to improve her motor skills but the opposite happened. She severely declined in mobility and laid around all day. I couldn't belive it. They wouldn't let us visit, though we got different people giving different information - the overall answer was no visitation, even in her condition. She's 90 with Dementia. Read the reviews. They're short staffed which is obvious from the first moment you go there, limit of 1 video call a week, when you call to inquire, they act as if they have no update or can't speak with you, and the ultimate care for my gma was terrible. She went in fully mobile, able to do for herself, stand, walk, eat, move, use the restroom, etc, and came out 100% immobile. Stiff as a broom. They were supposed to have DME for her the day she left the facility - it's been a week and we have nothing after numerous calls and requests. They've made her overall condition deteriorate tenfold within 2 weeks. She was supposed to be isolated in a non-shared room her entire stay per their requirements with her elevated health risk given her age, medical history, etc. , but upon her departure, a nurse informed my Uncle that not only was there another patient in her room but that patient had COVID19!!! I was terrified to hear this. I should've followed my initial instinct to NOT have her at this facility. This puts a bad taste in our mouths about her being anywhere but home!

The staff is inadequate for the type of attention needed. The communication is terrible. There is no attention to grooming, comfort or helpfulness with patients needing specialized care. Please look elsewhere for your loved ones. I had to constantly call for updates and to schedule visits. Social worker does not return calls. Nurses are rude. Doctor does not know much about the patient. My mother begged for me to get her put of there.

A Sad Situation

PLEASE DON'T LEAVE YOUR LOVE ONE AT MANOR CARE DECATUR!!! My mom was at Manor Care a little less than a month. So many staff issues. The 2nd floor rehabilitation nurse staff needs patient/people skill training. The night and weekend nurse staff are the worst. They are rude. No empathy or compassion for patients. My mother normally has to wait 45min to 1hr for help to the restroom and then the nurse actions are as if they don't want to be there. Once, the doctor actually made a nurse apologize to my mother for her rudeness. My mom was never given a shower her entire stay, sponge baths only. The day she was being discharged someone finally offered to help my mom shower. The nurse had the audacity to call me to notify me my mom said no. After all the complaints, today her last day you decided to shower my mom.. no thanks! Good luck if you need any assistance from the social worker on staff, her attitude is horrible. Please, advocate for your love ones at all times. There's no comparisons. At Emory Decatur rehab my mom was upbeat, thriving, and she had hope. Now she miserable, depressed and stopped eating. Lost over 20 pounds in 21 days since entering that facility. Don’t stand by and allow your love ones to be neglected. Stand up for them and don’t stop until actions are taken to better care for them. A Sad Situation!

My father was in this facility for 16 days as a follow-up to a hospital stay. The first 14 he was quarantined due to their Covid protocol so we were only able to see him when he was going to doctors appointments. Based on his experience, staffing on the weekends is of particular issue. Extended waits when he used call bell for a nurse, he'd ask for water and have to wait for an hour or more to get it. One weekend when my brother stopped by to drop off a package, he saw two residents in the lobby unattended one of them on a gurney!! Following weekend after he had waited several hours for a nurse to return, I tried calling the nurses station on his floor several times with no response even after speaking to front desk and being assured that staff was on the floor. Food was not appetizing and portions small. This from someone who doesn't eat much, so we had to have food delivered and bring meals and also supplemented with a bag of snacks. Overall, the facility seems to run fine Mon-Fri when administrative staff is present but it all falls apart on the weekend when they are not there and facility is severely understaffed. You will have to advocate for your loved ones. Also, be clear on how your loved ones laundry will be handled. We asked for laundry to be done on site but due to some administrative mix-up it took almost 10 days before his laundry got done. In the meantime, a nurse threw it in a bag in his room where it started to smell.

My dad is currently at Manor Care Rehabilitation Center. He has only been there for about four or five days, and I haven't been inside because of the COVID-19, but the people who worked there are all very nice. I only got to talk to them on the phone, but my sister has been over there to drop off some snacks for my dad. He seems to like it, but he's in quarantine for the first fourteen days for now. My brother-in-law's uncle was in there, too, and he said that they have a great rehabilitation program.

My husband was admitted to Manor Care in February for Rehab, following a hospital stay. Before agreeing to this facility, we made a visit, and everything seemed clean and in good condition during our brief tour. He was there a total of eight days, with his daughter and I tag-teaming visits. During the week, he seemed to get some good therapy in the rehab center, but was not very cared for otherwise. I had to ask on his behalf for a menu and to add milk at meals on several occasions. I also asked about laundry of his personal items, and was told that someone would give me an authorization to sign,- never happened. Other than rehab therapy, he was basically ignored. Room was not kept clean. Seemed to be under staffed. Nurse at desk clearly did not appreciate any inquiries. On the eight day when daughter arrived, he had thrown up both breakfast and lunch, and his catheter bag contained blood. No one had noticed. The nurse supervisor said she would call the doctor on duty, but no response. I personally arranged his move back to the hospital, where he was readmitted. No concern shown then. Daughter asked nurse about lack of notice of his condition, and was told that one nurse was responsible for 27 patients on that Saturday afternoon. In the days following when I went back to pick up his belongings on 3 occasions, I had to search for some of his clothes, which were later found in a in a hamper. Nursing staff did not even seem to recognize his name and offered no regrets. Only person who asked about him was a young CNA who I met in the hallway. My husband said "I refuse to go back to that place"! Regarding the front reception, on all my visits this desk was completely unmanned, with no one in sight to answer questions, help with door access, etc. We later took him to another Rehab Center, and the care was night and day difference, thankfully. Would not recommend this facility.

My brother in law was just discharged from this facility. I live in Chicago area and was visiting my sister last week when her husband was in this facility. I am a retired nurse case manager and have worked with Manor care here. My experience with Manor Care was good until this experience. The communication was terrible. Nursing did not communicate to my sister. I thought the staff just left my brother in law in his wheelchair without much assistance. He was not taken to activities until we asked because he was so bored. The activity director was very good and was sure after our asking that he got to the activities We had to initiate his discharge plans. His therapy was early in the morning so no family was instructed in his hemi walker until right at discharge. Equipment had been ordered but not delivered until my sister called the provider several times. Discharge was delayed. My sister and I were very frustrated with the care. The receptionist (Johnnie) overheard our conversation and contacted the Nursing Supervisor. We then were able to voice our concerns. No homecare was set up prior to discharge. Overall it was a very frustrating experience for patient and family. Glad to get him home.

Manor Care is pretty good. My mom is over there right now. They have nice staff. The rooms are pretty nice, well maintained, and clean. The location is really good. My mom likes the food. They have a really good rehab center and are very good with their patients.

This place did not care about their patents. Only good part is the rehab nurses and doctors. Not the nurses and technicians that work there. We only saw good work from Mrs. Felicia, Cirra , Mrs Amelia . They was awesome with the care of my dad. And the guy who work on the second floor. It was times when I came in and my father had BM or urine on him that he was on him for hours that I took upon myself and had to change him. He had a stroke there . The reason he was able to go to the hospital was because I told them that he didn't look right. This place is not good for your family members or loved ones just the rehab.

ManorCare is a fairly new facility, so it's nice and clean. The staff is friendly and nice. The quarters are typical quarters with some including roommates and some single rooms. My mom has a roommate, but everything is fine. It is an OK place, and I trust them. The dining room is just like a regular dining room, and my mom doesn't like the food at all. The atmosphere is good. They do weekly movies with popcorn and have a garden for the patients.

I had a good stay here at Manorcare Rehab Center - Decatur. Everything went smoothly. The nursing staff was excellent and met all of my needs. Anytime I needed something they were right there and ready to be of assistance. Therapy was great as well. I am much stronger and more confident in my ability to safely care for myself when I return home. I really enjoyed all of the interactions I had with the staff; from the front desk all the way up to the top everyone was friendly. The friendly, social environment paired with the thorough therapy and nursing staff made my stay not only enjoyable but beneficial as well, I would recommend Manorcare Rehab Center - Decatur to anyone needing their services.

I've really enjoyed my stay in Manorcare. The nurses, the assistants, and the therapists have been great on all shifts. My therapist Moira and I have established a good relationship during my time here. She is very knowledgeable, thorough, and pleasant making my therapy sessions beneficial but also enjoyable. I appreciate the fact that she really pushes me to reach all my goals. I plan to return to Manorcare health and rehabilitation following my next procedure in a few months. I would recommend Manorcare to anyone having any surgery that may require therapy afterwards. Coming here has been one of the best decisions I have made regarding my health so far.

Before I went to the hospital I lived alone and was independent with most of my activities. I was able to take care of myself until one day I passed out after having chest pain. I choose Manorcare because it was the closest facility to my home and I am happy I did. Everyone here is exceptionally nice! My therapist were Soraia and Cliff. We worked on many things from walking with a rolling walker to using the bathroom by myself. Now I am able to return home and live alone again. I have been to many rehabs in the hospital but this is the best therapy that I have ever had. The staff here take care of everything!

I came to Manorcare REhab Decatur following a spinal fusion surgery. I was supposed to return home after 4 days in the hospital but due to complications it was recommended that I do inpatient rehab for few weeks. I knew immediately where I wanted to go. Manorcare Health and Rehab Center in Decatur. My father has had two fantastic stays with them, leaving with strength he did not have prior to going there. My personal experience here has been just great. Therapy is my favorite. I had great experience with PT and OT. They truly listened to my needs, we're very professional, and made therapy fun all at the same time. The nursing staff was wonderful as well. My nurses were attentive, professional, and answered any questions I had immediately. The staff overall are very professional personable and make the atmosphere family like. Most of them knew my name and that was very impressive to me. I would recommend this Manorcare to anyone needing the services they offer. I am very appreciative of all they have done for me.

I visited this facility

I am a relative and friend My mother was found limp and hanging out of bed and halfway on the floor. She was delusional and just not to herself. Her wound was not cleaned properly. The day after mother's day 2015 my mom was taken to the ER she was losing blood, had a fever, sugar was high, and her surgery wound was infected. My mom had to have two blood transfusions. A family friend is there and within the first month fell and busted his head and had to get stitches every time. After that he has suffered a stroke. They put him in a wheelchair with a helmet on his head and sit him in the hall all day. His health has gotten worse since he has been there. The busted head could have been avoided if they would have checked on him more often. He fell trying to get to the bathroom. The staff just don't do their jobs.

Please do not send your loved ones to Manor Care. My father was sent to Manor Care in Decatur for rehab after surgery for a broken hip. We were never happy with his care. We noticed almost immediately that he was going downhill. When we asked the staff, we were always told that he was fine the last time they had checked on him. We finally took our concerns to the Director of Nursing, she said they would do some tests. His home health care nurse thru his insurance went by to check on him, when she involved, things started happening. He was taken to Emory and his diagnosis was kidney failure, low blood pressure, low heart rate, and extremely dehydrated. After 10 days in Emory he is on the road to recovery. Please do not send your loved ones to Manor Care.

My brother is in Manor Care for his rehabilitation, and he has been there for a little over two months. Before I put him in that facility, he was mobile and walking around. He is an elderly man. He is 67 years old, and he has been totally blind for the last 12 years, but he still lives by himself, cooks, cleans and so forth. Since he has been in that rehab after his operation, he hasn't been mobile at all. Right now, they have a month for discharge, and they are unable to discharge him because he doesn't have a plan B meaning they don't have a place to send him when he is discharged. I do have great hope in that rehabilitation center because of the initial conversation before I moved my brother, but I have to say since the time that he has been in there until now, he has not progressed. Not one-step. However, he has a clean semi-private room where he has a roommate. They do keep it up pretty clean. It is spacious enough for two people. It does have its own bathroom plus washer, sink, television, and telephone. I am under the interpretation that the staff is doing their job on a professional level as far as I can see, but I don't know what is going on when I am not there and my brother tells me that they are not doing what they are supposed to be doing. I think they need a little bit more tactfulness in performing their duty.

ManorCare Rehab Center is good facility as they are helping my mom get back her life. They showed interest and care as well as they help her through rehab. I was really impressed with the facility. Their bathrooms are very clean, and there's no noxious smell or anything. They seemed to be really organized. The staff are quick and nice. It’s not the most luxurious and up-to-date facility, but it's clean. They have an internet café for their residents.

One thing I noticed about this facility is the lack of the sense or urgency the workers have there. A lot of them just go about their day as if they don't have a care in the world. I understand that the residents are elderly, need assistance and are expected to move at a slower pace, but I was just really surprised to see the workers moving at almost an even slower pace. Another thing I noted was the lack of professionalism displayed in some of the front desk workers. The particular day I visited, I had an opportunity to hear talk that I thought was very inappropriate for the workplace. What's more is that the conversation took place in the common area where everyone passing could hear.Overall, I was pleased with the level of care my loved one receive while she was there, but it was really a turn off at how the attendants really took their time to do anything at all. I didn't like the level of professionalism and I really wish they could improve upon it. The facility itself was very clean.
