I am/was a resident of this facility

I was at Ocean View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center a couple of years ago. It's a rehabilitation center, and it's a "five" rating all the way around. They did a lot of good help. I was very sick when I got there, and when I left, I was very well. They had a therapy room and treatment centers. The gym that was helping me get well was very big and very nice. The staff was pretty well trained to get things done and to help anybody with what they have. It was a really nice place, and it's right across the street from the ocean. I would go back there if I wanted. They asked me if I wanted to come back, but I had already been placed in another facility. The food was well prepared and scheduled, and the quality was good. I got my money's worth for being there. I was satisfied with it.

I visited this facility

Ocean View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center seemed nice, but my mother didn't qualify for it. They had their own in-house doctors and nurses. The facility and the staff were very nice. They had an exercise room, a beauty shop, and the dining area looked very nice. Overall, it was a very nice place, and the administration was good. I liked the building, but it's very hard to find parking. They were very friendly.

I visited this facility

I cannot say enough about Ocean View Nursing Home. My Grandfather lived out his remaining years at this facility. The staff was always helpful and great! I have experiences with another nursing home, he was in before this one. The difference was night and day. The other facility, the staff wouldn't make eye contact with you for fear you would ask them for something. At Ocean View, routinely staff would overhear a need and go get whatever was needed before I could ask! I am telling you, these people care and the culture there is one of help and support!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Ocean View is a nursing home who cares about their patients. My husband has been there for six years now and gets the best of care. There were a few problems with a couple of aids in the early years of his stay there but the nurses resolved it immediately, and things have been back to normal since then. I am there a lot to feed my husband and oversee his care. I am well pleased with all the staff. They are kind, considerate, caring and loving. They always notify me of any change necessary to my husbands care. Thank you Ocean View for a job well done!

I give Ocean View zero stars...My mother was to rehab there for a knee replacement, as soon as she was able she have been released, unbeknownst to us we didn't realize they keep you untill your Medicare runs out (take family members out as soon as possible you can have PT at home) so two days before she was to be released she fell and fx. Her femur ( my mother could not see 6 ins beyond her face she is leagally blind) she used the bathroom unattended, after having surgery on her femur she was returned to ocean view to rehab again, this time she contracted c-diff (she was in a room the first time there with a woman who said you need to be moved I'm contagious, my mom was moved two days later and a stop do not enter sign was placed on that woman's door) my mother was vomiting and had diarreha for days then diagnosed with c-diff she was given meds and still could not keep good down, I asked for anti anti nausea med for her and she got it the same time the good arrived!! I asked please give it to her an hour before (this happened maybe once) now a week goes by she is now very weak the dr finally takes blood and finds out she is dehydrated and needs an IV calls for this at 4 o'clock I go back around 6:30 thinking she is finally getting some fluids .... But no, I ask the head nurse "where is the IV?" I'm told I haven't given an IV in 20 years the that can will be here at 7" I say it's 7 now she says" I should be worried about her she is never late" I wait a little longer still no one to give an IV, then I'm told around 8:30 that the medicine for the IV needs to be delivered from Tampa or Jacksonville ( no one ordered it earlier ) at this point my Mom is really weak, I said you need to call 911 now or I'll do it myself .... My mother was taken to the ER where they tested and found out her white count was at 30,000 ( normal is 4,500-10,000) they never saw it that high, at this writing my mother is still in the hospital it's been 20 days, and lucky to be alive ..... She will never go back there again

We, the family of a current patient in for rehab after a stroke, are very disappointed in the care and attention our mom is receiving at this facility. While the staff – nurses, CNAs, and therapists are friendly and helpful, there is a severe lack of communication among the staff and doctor(s), contrary to what their website says about immediate knowledge of the patient through computers. This lack of communication is further compounded by the contradictory information regarding x-rays, blood work, nebulizer versus oral drugs, etc. After 2 weeks in rehab, they are telling us she is being discharged in a few days because the insurance company does not want to pay anymore and the therapists are saying she is ready. Although the therapists told us earlier that their goal is safety, e.g., not sitting down when trying to process something during therapy. Mom is still trying to process information during therapy and when she gets tired, she just sits right down. Therefore, it does not appear that safety is their true goal. We were told that they were going to have a meeting with the family in a few days to discuss her situation and now they are kicking her out when there are still therapy and potential medical issues, without a meeting.

The food is terrible, I wouldn't feed it to my dog!!! There is no selection. My father was doing well at the hospital and has gone downhill in two days here. Insurance doesn't provide any alternative in our town. Can't get a nurse to answer bell. This place doesn't even deserve a rating. My dad needed to be moved last night, they had a pregnant nurse that was ready to deliver on his room. It took him an hour to get someone to move him around in the bed.

My mother is at Oceanview Nursing Center. She's there at the current time and as soon as she is able to walk on her own, she will be released. The staff are extremely helpful. Their rehab people are really skilled. The physical building is not much to look at, but they are amazingly capable – the staff are really, really good.

I hate to even rate this a one star. here is what I just wrote Oceanview: My father recently was in Oceanviews care. I am HIGHLY disgusted with the social worker there. Not only is she rude and insensitive and talked to my father and I like we were uneducated idiots, she gave misinformation regarding his oxygen which his life DEPENDS on. I do not get what was going on there...almost like Ocenaview was passing the buck to turn a bed...My father has been here in NC with me one week and is back in the hospital. I was led to believe, by staff there, he was ready to be released. Cleary, after being on a ventilator here for two days he was not. The hospital staff here in NC is dumbfounded with the type of care he got there. Granted the nurses are nice and the doctors are nice, but no MDs I have run across here have a clue why he would be released from there. And again, someone should teach the social worker there some skills in customer service. Highly disgusted...highly.

Oceanview nursing home in Fla where I placed my mom last Dec. has been a blessing to me. my mom has full time skilled nursing care and a staff that is right on top of any issues that come up. They have regulat Dr. visits and open to visitors at any time. If needed the patients have access to physical and occupational therapy
