I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

This place is awful. They are rude to the residents. They told my mother we can't come down here all the time. She needed to use the bathroom and needed help. She has fallen too many times to count because she needs aid to get in and out of her wheelchair. Her things were stolen. Clothes(which had her name in) wedding ring and glasses. They really don't have that many activities to keep them busy. Most of the time you see the residents just sitting and doing nothing. The bathrooms in the rooms are dirty. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

So my grandfather has been a resident at wood glen for several months now. He h Suffers from ahlztimers and dementia, just last night we got a call stating that he had fallen 1:37 am and he was in a lot of pain and were getting x-rays. Another call between 10-11:30 am stating he had fractured his hip and they gave him ibuprofen. Another call around noon asking for permission to get him to hospital and that he had not fractured but broke his hip. Just the 26th of Jan. We got a call stating that he fell which he had hit his head/neck. Since this hip incident wood glen has not contacted us what so ever. Mother tried to call for answers because currently grandpa is laying in hospital bed needing surgery that he may not make it through. They wouldn't talk to my mother. Family member went to go see him at hospital and she said it's like he's in a comma he's in and out hardly responding not speaking just twitchy and out of it.

I would not recommend. Terrible experience. Lost my mother in law after 30 days the next day after putting on meds. They lied every time I called. One said can’t visit cause of virus. Next one said can’t visit too hot outside. Then 5 days later go get her suitcase n clothes and tv and money on books. And hmmmm. Can’t find any of it

I would not recommend this facility, my father fell and broke his hip and passed away 3 days later due to complications from his injury. This place is filthy dirty and under staffed, they tell you patients are checked on every 30-60 minutes which is not true.

I would not recommend Wood Glen to anyone. My mom was at this place. When we first put her in there, it was one of the few places that would accept her because of her behavioral problem. They promised me that if she would be a little bit better, they would move her out, but that didn't happen. She failed to thrive because of it. In the area where my mother was, they were very depressed. It was very dark in there with just one window. The food must have been pretty good because she would eat like she was enjoying it. My problem basically was the care that she was getting. They didn't push to help her.

I am a friend or relative of resident

This facility is probably one of the worst I have experienced in many years. After watching an acquaintance deteriorate from pain and discomfort and never seemed to get any answers or direction from the medical staff, I was able to come to the conclusion that most of the deterioration of this facility was not at the lower end of the staffing, but at the upper levels. Serious communication issues with the medical director and executive director and other upper level management staff. The aides and floor nurses did as much as they could to assist most patients but what most family and visitors don't realize is that the breakdown of care is coming from upper level. Condition of the facility is deteriorating. Furniture is in very poor condition. Seals around commodes missing, sticky floors, etc. I would seriously investigate this facility before putting a loved one here. I gave it 1 star as there were a few very caring aides and nurses who tried to do as much as they could to help the residents.

As are most of the facilities around, this home is severely understaffed....being in the healthcare field myself yet NOT an employee here, I find myself filling in when and where there are no Aides available. It is an extremely sad state of affairs when our Senior Citizens do not have the watchful eye of the supervisors/staff at all times to make sure that they are handled in the most loving and caring way possible. There are just a few of the employees there who are very loving, but in general, the caregiver to patient ratio is so severely off, that it almost borders on neglect.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Wood Glen Alzheimer’s Community was recommended to us by another facility. My mother-in-law is a current resident there. They are a very warm community, and they do call themselves "community." There are four different halls called "neighborhoods," and each neighborhood is designed for specific needs or levels of dementia care based on assessments. The staff is trained to deal with people with those specific needs. They are very amenable and very easy to work with. However, I did ask that they stay in communication with me on a weekly basis, but they don't do that. As for activities, they all depend on the level of functioning of the residents and the neighborhood that they are in. They had my mother-in-law on the second highest functioning neighborhood, where they would do things like singing and dancing. They also had parties. However, she qualified for higher functioning level, so they moved her over there, and they would do things like card games. It is almost like being in her own home, just with more people around, and with the same types of things that she would do with family and friends. The rooms at this location, however, we were not as happy with because they are semi-privates only divided by a curtain. In each room, all beds are pushed against the wall so that the residents have as much space as possible. When we did admission, they told us that we can change the room and make it as homey and as personal as we like, but later on, we were told that we are not, so that was kind of disappointing.
