The rooms in assisted living are very nice. The bathrooms are well designed and handicap accessible. The small kitchenette has a tiny sink that you can’t even clean a coffee mug in. Internet service is provided in the cost of the expensive rent and it is very poor service, cuts out all the time thus difficult to stream a movie. The social activities are poor, there is virtually nothing to do during the day. Transportation service is poor, vans are not in good condition. Then there is the food……it is absolutely horrible and processed, nothing is fresh and when it is fresh, veggies are over cooked and mushy. Example of a meal is French toast for Sunday dinner. Food has no flavor and despite numerous complaints, the AL Director and kitchen claim there is nothing they can do about it as their food directives come from headquarters. Then let’s talk about maintenance, simply put, they are non responsive. The front line employees are nice and do the best they can given the poor leadership they work under. The sales department gives a very nice tour, but the truth of this poorly run facility becomes apparent once you move in.

My mom has been in Good Samaritan Society. We are very satisfied with the help she gets there. She is in a one-bedroom apartment, which is very well kept. Housekeeping is good. We haven't been in there for the last eight months, however we chatted with her through the window. The staff is great. They have a variety of rooms. They have studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom rooms. My mom doesn't play much, but they have lots of group activities. They have concerts, exercises, and movies. They have beautiful courtyards, a good hiking area where you can walk around the grounds, and lovely parks.

I've been to the Good Samaritan Society - Fairfield Glade. It's really beautiful, and almost like being in a five-star hotel. I went into many of their apartments. The dining room was quite lovely. My only problem was that they would not take dogs over 30 pounds, and at that time I had an 87 pound dog. I was also concerned that it was still too far for my children to visit. It was very impressive, the apartments were beautiful, everyone seemed very happy, and I was quite impressed. I tried the food and it was good. They served very attractive snacks to me as I was visiting. They have a fitness room, a small gym, they have a chapel there for those who want to go, some of the apartments have balconies, which is nice, they have cultural events, they have a little movie theater. They have no pool, but people are able to go to a wellness center which has a pool. They have a little bus I think that takes the residents there. It was spotless and tastefully furnished.

I love my apartment. And the staff here are so friendly and caring. There are lots of activities, and friends to do them with. My move here was a good decision for me, and my family has peace of mind knowing I'm happy and well cared for.

My husband and I moved here 2 years ago and chose a cottage as our first stop. Our intent is to move through the different levels of care as our health declines. My parents were in a similar type facility in Iowa in the 1990s and it worked out very well! We have long term care insurance (LTC) which will become very helpful as our health declines. We can have the services of a nurse / companion in our cottage as needed now and paid for with our LTC policy. And then it will become a partial payee as we progress through assisted and skilled living. Until the Covid-19 pandemic hit the USA, we had many freedoms to come and go as we pleased, ate our daily meal in a beautiful dining room, had lots of entertainment and activities for our enjoyment. We miss a lot of those freedoms but we feel very secure and protected here. We have volunteer opportunities in the main Building where independent apartments, assisted living apartments and skilled care are located. The only thing that it lacks is the ability to care for dementia patients but hopefully we won’t need that. The staff at all levels are very professional and yet caring. The meals meet all federal guidelines and are generally appealing, nutritious and tasty. But everyone has different tastes and appetites but we feel they do a very good job of pleasing the majority! We have basic maid service every two weeks, all outside yardwork and maintenance is handled by polite and knowledgeable young men. All of our appliances are maintained by that same maintenance staff. All utilities to include tv and WiFi are included in our rent. We have 2 bedrooms, a den, two bathrooms, delightful kitchen, separate dining room and adjoining living room. We are only responsible for our telephone service. We really enjoy our lovely home and hope we can stay here until the end of our days but do know we may have to move through the different levels of care. We highly recommend this facility to all!

I really like Good Samaritan Society - Fairfield Glade. We have entertainment, games, and a wellness center. We have a two-bedroom apartment and a screened-in porch to the outside. It's more reasonable than any I've ever seen. We have a full kitchen with an oven, a dishwasher, and a refrigerator. It's a very nice facility and it's beautiful. The food is good. The staff is excellent. I have my washer and dryer in here and two bathrooms.

My wife is getting excellent care at Good Samaritan Society - Fairfield Glade. We just added hospice care for her. They have a fairly active social program for those who can participate, everything from Bingo to sing-along. It's a very pleasant place to be.

This is a beautiful facility staffed by people who, just in their caring, encourage healing. The facility's beauty encourages healing, too. I came into Good Samaritan-Fairfield Glade on a gurney carried out of an ambulance. I had a broken kneecap as well as an opposite surgically reconstructed (hence, broken and put back together) foot. From my back, moving my head side to side, I saw an interior that was like coming into someone's home. I felt my eyes brighten, and my heart said, "I'm going to get better here!" And I have. Physical and Occupational Therapists are cheerleaders. And so are the unflappable nurses and CNAs. This in turn affects the patients positively, and we inpatients enjoy each other and love cheering each other on. I have been here for over two months. I'm happy that I'm well enough to go home with a temporary walker, knee brace and walking boot, but I'm sad to be leaving. This is not an institution. It's a family.

My parents are in Independent living Apartments. They are wonderful , I can't say how glad I am that they are here. They have friends and people that check on them. They have opportunities to participate in different activities. I was just there visiting for a week and came away very pleased with how my parents are living.

My dad has been a patient at Good Sams twice since April 3. He had back surgery and came here for rehab. He was at Good Sams for three weeks. His first surgery didn't work so it had to be redone on May 11. He returned to GS for 9 days. Both times he and my mom (she stayed every day with him) were treated with great care and patience. Dad was having a difficult time the second time he arrived and the RN came in to see him. He care for him made all the difference in the world.

My mom was extremely excited to move there. Actually, it was my parents' plan to live out their days there but Dad had dementia and died first so it was just mom moving in. There were good and bad aspects of my mom's stay. She was in independent living and she had a very, very nice cottage. It's a pretty long walk to the main building, which is not easy in the hot summer or icy winter. Oddly, snow/ice removal is not included in the fees so sometimes it was too dangerous for her to go to the main building for lunch, dinner, etc. Before she moved in we were aware that independent living is absolutely independent--there is no assistance at all unless it's an emergency--however, in reality, she needed assistance like learning how to work the washing machine, how to sign up for activities, fixing the cable buttons after she messed up the TV, etc. One of the guys who worked there was really helpful, as were her neighbors, but some staff members were very quick to tell us that special services are not provided in independent living. Unfortunately, the longer she lived there, her memory declined so she really needed more help. In my opinion something really missing is a tiered plan or pay-as-needed for special help. The only option was moving into assisted living or hiring an outside caregiver for a minimum of 4 hours a day. Mom's dog was too big for assisted living and those units don't have a kitchen, which she wanted even though she really doesn't cook anymore. It's in a very remote area so unless the resident drives, they are stuck riding in a van a few times a week going to the Kroger or a doctor's appointment. I think the facility is best suited for people who are truly very independent.

Samaritan had everything we wanted in a nice, quiet, and secure area. We liked the location of it, and the amenities they had for us. The two-bedroom had a den, screened-in porch, washer and dryer, stove, refrigerator, freezer, and two full baths. They had two rooms for activities: an athletic room and a card, games, and puzzles room. We had a meal there wherein a waitress served us, which was very good. I think it was a very nice place, and the people were very nice to us.

They're very good at Good Samaritan. At that time, they had a conservationist that was showing them an eagle. Also, you could play cards and bingo. They have certain days for these things.

We settled for Good Samaritan Society apparently because it was near our children, and our experience has been good. The help is just fantastic, and the staff are great. The food is institutional food, but they serve it the best they can, and it is pretty good. We brought our own furniture, and we just have a bedroom, a living room, and a bath.

I'd like to choose Good Samaritan as a facility for my mom, and as a matter of fact, I got her on the waiting list in this facility. The facility is very nice, and the rooms are a good size. The price is much better than the other facility I've looked at. The staff are very helpful. At the time that I was there, they had some people playing, and the second time I was there they had some Mardi Gras activity going on.

We were very impressed with Good Samaritan. They have a wonderful community We have heard nothing but good things about them. The rooms are fairly new, beautiful, and they're large. They also have cottages and that's where we'll be going. We've only talked with the director, so that's the only person that we dealt with. We didn't really looked at activities, because we weren't interested in that. But they do have exercise rooms, a theater, a library, and they play cards. The people there stay very busy. The size of the apartment and the cottages, it's where we live. We like everything about it.
