I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was a resident at CareOne Cresskill rehab on more than one occasion. The latest admission was in January 2020 for rehab after a routine hip replacement. My mother contracted COVID when she was at CareOne and in isolation for an extended time. I can't even speak of that time - it is one that still brings me nightmares. My mother had two falls at CareOne and neither should have been able to happen and she never walked again because of the damage done by those falls. Nursing homes/Rehabs should never be options unless someone cannot be cared for at home. I took my mother out of CareOne Cresskill last August before anything else could happen to her and for the last year, she required 24/7 care and was fully wheelchair-bound. My mother passed away a few weeks ago, and I felt that I owed it to her to write this review now. Aides - the most important position in day to day satisfaction of residents. But, my mother went 10 days after surgery without a shower. I had to contact the doctor's office and administration over and over to complain. Constant issues in this area and poor oversight. Nurses - Jay stands out as outstanding and often stepped down to do the aide's job in order to help my mother. Many nurses cared and too many did not. Advocates needed - anyone who is in CareOne needs a strong advocate! Nutritionalist - wonderful person Administration - the more junior people cared a lot. The senior people couldn't get out of their own way. Social Workers - in 2020 not so great but in years prior they were strong advocates and got things done. Physical Therapy - excellent

Awful facility. Some of the staff is incompetent. The place is not properly equipped. It is trying to make money by skimping on services.

Absolutely terrible place that should have been closed a long time ago. Incapable of providing the necessary level of care.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Staff - They do a good job identifying and hiring the right people. Everybody approaches their jobs professionally and in a very caring and friendly manner. Rate a 10 Rooms: are nice and sunny and of course very clean. One complaint is that the mattresses and blankets are not comfortable. Rate:7 Food it is very good most of the time. And if you don’t like what they’re serving you can request Other options. So I would rate the food a 10. Activities: It is difficult to evaluate during this pandemic. However, the activity leader has a wide variety of activities and does a great job evaluating and assessing the interest of the residents. Rate: 10. Would I recommend this facility to someone I care about? Absolutely!!!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I found CareOne at Cresskill for my husband. It's basically a skilled nursing facility, and it has a dynamic rehab facility. They have speech therapy on hand, they have very friendly staff, and it's in a great location. It's a mixture of rehab and memory care, they have a lot of activities for the patients, they have nurses that are actually on staff, and so for people that need a higher level of care, this is an exceptional place for that. The dining area is wonderful, the food is spectacular, they can do Kosher, Korean, you name it, and they have it. They have a separate dining room for people of higher tempo, they have social rooms, and overall it's a really great place.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My wife is in Care One. The staff is very good for the most part. Sometimes they are slow to response, but overall, my wife was satisfied for the most part. They have all kinds of events, but my wife does not participate. She is bed bound at this point; she is not able to get up and not really able to take care of herself. I know that they have musicians come in, they show movies, they have games that they play, and everything else, but that's not the thing that my wife enjoys anyway. She shares a room with another person, and there's really nothing much there. There is a bed, a small dresser, a night table, a couple of night lamps, and a TV.

Have had several problems with this facility. The administration staff is never available (except for Donna), if you are unable to visit the resident and call there, either you are put on hold and left floating in the air for min. 10 mins, max 35 mins, or whatever time you are calling the nurses are to busy to take the call, yet when you do go up there, they are all standing around. Very frustrating and totally unacceptable.

Physical therapy is wonderful. Nurses are very caring and concerned, yet staffing is poor. Family meetings with social work and care team went well, yet, when the time came to transfer my mother home, it seemed like management came up with every excuse for the 'delay'. 'She cannot leave because she is unstable again.' 'She needs to stay here for better 'round the clock care.' 'We cannot have the paperwork done before the weekend.' (This meeting was Thursday afternoon). My mother wanted to be home, and she was no longer there for physical therapy, but everyone seemed to have their 'hands tied'.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was a resident for one month while recuperating from hip surgery. I found the medical and office staff wonderfully accommodating and helpful and well-educated. The physical therapy department was 100% on top of their game. I hope to never need these services again but if I do, I would definitely come back and I 100% recommend this facility to anyone who's looking to rehabilitate.

I visited this facility

Staffing is poor. There can be as few as 3 nurses covering the whole facility at any time. Most nurses are LPNs and not RNs. Aides are relied upon to care for patients, but they are understaffed. More than once a patient had no oxygen in their tank and it called for visitor intervention

Physical and Occupational Therapists are fantastic. Support staff seemed to care about patients but medical staff and office staff are problematic. If it was not for the social worker (Gina), I would be pulling my hair out trying to deal with the office. Just try and get a bill for insurance purposes.
