Wildewood Downs is more for someone who needs a lot of medical attention. Large parts of it were under construction. It didn't seem as safe and attractive as the other facilities we visited. The staff didn't seem to be as welcoming or friendly compared to the staff of the other facilities. It was under construction, so it looked a bit chaotic to me. We didn't get what I would consider to be a good tour.

My tour at Wildewood Downs was very good. The staff I talked to was the sales girl, and she was very nice. The facility itself was good, but it's lacking because it doesn't have a swimming pool. I thought their dining area was ok, and they have lovely grounds.

I went to look at Wildewood Downs. It was very busy. A lot of clients were out and about in smaller areas in the lobby. The dining room was pretty clean, but it seemed fine. The room itself was very average, but clean and very nice. The staff were all very friendly and eager to make sure that I knew what was going on and what they were doing.

Wildewood Downs is a fairly small place, so my mother gets the attention she needs, and it's got a really good staff. They are friendly and skilled. Her needs are being met in a timely manner. I think the whole place is a five-star community. It's very nice and I was lucky to be able to get her there. She also enjoys the food. She still does some rehab, then they have crafts, and she is able to join them if she wants.

I like that Wildewood Downs is in my neighborhood. I didn't want to be out of the neighborhood because it's close to the stores I'm familiar with like the grocery stores and the malls. I like the marketing people. They have several plans that you can choose from and if you don't want to put all your savings into it, then pick something less expensive. They have a villa or a house by themselves. It doesn't make sense for me to move out of my house into another house, but I think it's great. They had wide-open spaces. You have a place to breathe and to walk. It is a nice place. I only met a couple of people in the cafeteria, but the marketing person was just nice. Once I decided that's worth looking into, they pampered me like crazy and I told them not to do that. Just because they want to bring me a sandwich or salads or dessert or whatever, that's not what I'm basing my decision on. I don't want somebody treating me special or bringing me dinner or dessert for me to go there while I'm still here in my house. I realize they have to do extra things so the person will decide to go there, but I'm too smart for that. The food was very delicious though. If you get an apartment, there's only one door to the outside. If you come from a home with a beautiful yard and a beautiful home, you want to get the quickest way to go outside. I'm not a "stay inside" person; I like to be outside. I'm probably 96% sure that's where I want to go. I like them the best so far.

We chose Wildewood Downs for my husband, and we have to move in in 90 days. We were very impressed. We liked the whole place. It had gorgeous landscaping outside, and everything that we would be interested in on the first floor where our apartment is. We don't have to go anywhere, except the first floor. Everyone was extremely friendly. The menu looks like a very expensive restaurant. They have an art room and a card room. They have things that they put on or all week or month long that you can take part of. Really, you could do anything you want there. We saw people playing cards, and we saw them working in the art room.

Wildewood Downs is a very clean place. I was very impressed with that. They have large rooms and very good, polite, and professional staff. The private rooms had a lot of closet space. It had a TV, a dresser, a chair and a nightstand. The social worker, whom I toured with, said that I would have the option to bring my own furniture to make my husband feel at home, but the furniture they had was already nice so we chose that. They do recreation by individuals or groups. Even though my husband is bed bound, they say they can put him in one of those little bed bound wheelchairs and bring them out with others if he wishes to, instead of having to do the activities in his room. They had OT, PT, a social worker, a pharmacist, as well as nursing round the clock. The social worker who toured me was excellent, and the facility is just beautiful.

My mother was at Wildewood Downs but I didn't care too much for them. She was in their skilled nursing area; it was very clean but they were very understaffed. My mom hated the food and she didn't like the staff either; she refused to go there again. She had physical therapy there and it was covered by Medicare. I would suggest that they hire more nurses.
