My grandma was in this place and they took very good care of her and treated her like she was their own family. Through the trying times of Covid the staff are still the same. I cannot express the level of care and professionalism they showed us.

My wife was moved from home hospice to the Southhampton Place facility to give me a 5-day hospice respite. When I arrived, I informed the maintenance man, who was hooking the tv, that my wife had fallen out of bed at the last nursing home twice and needed a fall mat. He said he would push the bed against the wall and put a fall mat. He did not do it and she rolled out of bed that night and landed on her forehead on a tile floor sustaining a large bruise. Then they put to bed against the wall and a mat. The next night she passed away from other causes, but did not need to get hurt like this in the last hours of her life.

This place is a shame! The food is terribe, served cold 99% of the time. It always smells like urine inside. There is no upkeep to the inside; the carpets are filthy, my husband's room had holes in the sheetrock, the floor in my husband's room was never mopped. Dirty towels were not picked up fors days. The interior looks 100 years old. I rarely saw staff other than a nurse & a med tech. Call lights were always on when I got there & the same ones still on 30- 45 minutes when I left. Nurses were either sitting at the nurses station or at the med cart as these lights were going off & I never saw them answer those lights-a BIG no no! My husband & I never saw the administrator, D.O.N., MDS coordintator or activity director his entire stay which was a month for rehab. No one showered him or offered him a shower. He received 1 sponge bath because I asked them to. 1 bath in over 30 days!! WTH?! I could go on!

My mother received fairly good care. There were a couple of issues with a broken bed and threatening to file a complaint. The staff were very good to her. The financial aspect of this is horrible. About 2 years before she passed they took control of her financial affairs without notifying me. Her checking account overdrew and had a lot of overdraft fees that I cleaned up. Hundreds of dollars. Then in September before she passed for some reason her Medicaid stopped paying. They say I got notification. I say I did not. Did they give me a courtesy call in September? NO. There answer: I got a bill. Well the first bill I got after they took over her financial affairs said I owed money. I called and they said not to worry about it. They had not received payment and the bill reflected this. So I just quit looking at the bills. They did not call me until JANUARY to tell me about owing $4,000.00. My mother died in the middle of February. This left September and half of October. SO do not allow them to take over your family members money. They are not good caretakers of it. They are not out to assist the residents and families members in this way. I do not recommend this nursing home for that reason.

I have been in charge of my brother’s care since he suffered a massive stroke 21 years ago. He is amazing, worked hard to be able to walk carefully with a quad cane. He’s lived in an assisted living facility for almost 20 years. I realize it’s a huge difference between assisted living and nursing home. After being hospitalized my brother became too weak to walk and needed some rehab to be able to return to his home. South Hampton seemed most eager to have him as a permanent resident. So frustrating. I could never speak to his PT person or get a timeline or prognosis. The assisted living facility was concerned about him and called South Hampton. They were told he was hoyer lift status. Huh? They told me this as well, this being the reason he couldn’t have a shower. In spite of all this, he regained strength, I fear working by himself but I shouldn’t just say this. I fear he was never going to be dismissed. I took him out myself and endured a lot of verbal threats on the phone. Most of the staff is very kind, but very understaffed. I understand it’s the policy for showers only twice a week if they deem you able, and that is murky. Do not recommend! I wish I’d read these comments before I allowed him to be admitted.
