I am a friend or relative of a resident
I have visited this facility a few times when older relatives resided there. My great aunt was in the facility for rehab after rib replacement surgery. Being in her late 80s, she was unable to stay at her home during recouperation. The facility was clean for the most part and the staff seemed nice. One thing that I didn't like is that the parking lot was very small, with only enough space for the staff's cars and a few extra spaces. Whenever we visited in the afternoon, it was always hard to find a parking space and we'd have to wait for sometimes up to 20 minutes to park. I noticed that the facility had a pretty regular schedule of meals and activities for the residents. One thing that I like is that family members could sit with the resident in the recreational room while playing BINGO and other games. One thing that I noticed was the nursing staff seemed to work really hard and was alway busy. If you needed anything out of the ordinary, it might take some time for them to get back to you. I didn't take it as their fault though, it was just really busy.Overall, I would recommend this facility for people living on the north side of Chicago. It's in the crowded Lakeview neighborhood, but it's a pretty nice place for your loved one.

I visited this facility
This facility in the popular, generally safe, urban Lakeview neighborhood offers short term rehab and long term care. It is difficult to park here; however for urban dwelling and mobile residents the location has many offerings of shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. There is also plentiful public transit. There is no real outdoor space for residents due to the urban setting, though residents do often lounge out in front of the building. Space is at a premium so common areas are modest in size. The facility is typically clean and well maintained; it is more modest than it is upscale. Rooms are just slightly larger than average for this type of urban setting, so there is some room for personal items to be brought in. The food is average and at times does not look appetizing; other times it seems alright. Staffing is variable with seemingly greater than average staff turnover compared to other similar facilities in the local area. Often families report long wait times to receive assistance and less than stellar follow through. This is certainly not the case all of the time, as many staff are clearly responsive, kind, and caring. If a resident can advocate on their own behalf they will likely get more attention than if they cannot. If this geographic is not absolutely necessary, there are other facilities nearby that may offer greater consistency, especially for a long term stay.
