I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

What impressed me about Menno Haven was how they treated each of their residents as an individual, and you could see that in their care. For example, during COVID, there was one woman who we talked to who would go down every day to the little bistro and get coffee to drink. They started bringing her coffee up to her room and leaving it outside her door, so she didn't have to go down because they didn't want people out. We went to lunch with the mother of a friend of mine there and they knew her individual choices of what she liked and didn't like. That spoke to me that they were that caring. The food we had was excellent too. I was very impressed. The physical grounds were beautiful and I was impressed with their apartments. Although the staff member gave me information, I felt like I learned a lot more information and a lot more knowledge from visiting my friend's mother and by talking with people who lived there. The place was spotless. They had everything from a woodworking area, community gardens, an indoor swimming pool, meeting rooms for people, a pool table, and a lot more classes, in which the majority of those were free. They also had villas associated with this facility and they had sidewalks with benches every couple of blocks so that people could sit down and rest.

My loved one is staying in Menno Haven. I like the people there. They seem very caring, and they have done a great job during the pandemic. They've done a really good job. They have varied activities. The facility is very clean and very well kept. They have a brand-new nursing center and several new buildings. It's pleasant, and Chambersburg seems to be a nice little town. Shopping is easy. In the building, they are combining single rooms to make small apartments for those people who were in the villas. They're large. It's very nice, and they have little kitchenettes. They have all their meals, and the cleaning is done for them. They're very attractive. This is a building that was built in the 1960s. They are demolishing the nursing part of it, and that's going to be made into small cottages, but the building itself is still large, and that's where they're trying to facilitate people who want to be in a place where they are easily connected with others. They can join in meals by just walking out their door and into a dining room. The medical attention is seconds away, too, so that is reassuring. They did an outstanding job during the pandemic of getting food and delivering it when no one could eat in the facilities. They have been excellent. The food has been adequate, and the one area that has been really good. The newest restaurant they opened has been very good. The value is very good. It is a lot less expensive than anything in either New Hampshire or New Jersey.

In Assisted Living There is a Serious Power Struggle with “Some” of the Nurses. The Egos are Disgusting. And it lingers to BOTH BUILDINGS! In EVERY ASPECT! Even THE GUYS WHO BEEN IN Maintenance, for Far tooooo long. Everyone’s Attitudes Need A SERIOUS CHECKING! And Their EGOS Need Left On the OTHER Side of the Door when they Clock IN! NO ONE IS ABOVE ANOTHER NO ONE IS BETTER THAN ANOTHER. It’s COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL & Despicable

I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved to Menno Haven because a friend lived here. like the way they kept the snow cleared off the sidewalks. I have a cottage in independent living. It has lots of activities. There were not a lot during Covid, but we are open now. It has great food. One of the dining rooms was called the 'Best in Chambersburg' by the food critics in the local paper. They have a casual grill and an espresso bar. There's a tech bar in case you're having trouble with your phone or your computer. There is a movie theater and a huge meeting hall. The activities range from shopping trips. We had one shopping to the Gettysburg outlet with lunch. Afterwards, we went to the flight 93 crash site and the American Civil War Museum. There used to be folk music in the lounge on Wednesdays, but that had to stop because of Covid. They have a good library, lots of woods, and places to walk. There are a couple of ponds, one of them has the yacht club which is 132nd scale sailboats. They have a cardboard boat race, where different employees make boats out of cardboard, duct tape and paint. The last one that does not sink is the winner, and that is over in the assisted living section. I have got the best kitchen I've ever had. They asked me if I want a Corian or granite and I chose Corian. They got us all our vaccines. The staff is great and friendly. The CEO is a registered nurse, and he occasionally takes the shift as a nurse in the nursing home area. He does it just to keep his skills up and to know what's going on. They built a new nursing home area, and they are gonna tear down the old one and build more cottages. It is not happening yet. They have turned one of the nursing homes into a Covid site. People who get the disease can stay there instead of going off campus. It is really a great place. They have got a rehab center. When the CEO comes to your house because he's a registered nurse just to make sure that you survived your first Covid shot, you got to say it is pretty good staff. I have not run into anybody that had any complaints. The food is excellent. There's nothing I haven't liked. Some of the facilities are old (like in the 1970s), but the brand new Life Center got all sorts of amenities like a huge theater, small conference room, and movie theater that you could sleep in. There are on-campus activities: knitting group, study groups, college nearby has lectures, movies when it's allowed, and lots of musical activities. Price is a little high, but it's worth it for what I'm getting.

I visited this facility

Menno Haven is probably considered premiere in the area, but it was just so large, and my father wasn't in favor of that because he was afraid that he won't be able to walk from the personal care or the assisted living side down to the fore-end of the building for the memory care, which is where my mother would be, because it was probably a good eighth of a mile. Menno Haven is very large. The staff was very nice, and they know the people by name, but it was just an institutional atmosphere. They had good food, and they have a lot of volunteers that come around and help you, but like I said it was just very large, and I was concerned that if one of my parents got depressed and stop eating, no one would notice. There was a lot more social availability at Menno Haven because there was a lot more people, a lot more money available, and a lot more volunteers that come in.

My mom is at Menno Haven and she loves the community. The staff were very helpful. She has a kitchen and a bedroom and a living room. She joins the exercise group and that is really helpful. The facility is very homey and feel comfortable. The people as well are extremely friendly.

Everything at the Menno haven facility is very nice. The grounds are immaculate, and there are even homes that people can buy on the grounds that are checked regularly, but still allow the owner to have some independance. The only issue that I had with that was that once the owner passes, ownership passes back to Menno have. The staff there is very courteous and you often see families there visiting. This is probably because it's a more comfortable setting. It has the feel of just a retirement community, but has so many ammenities. My family was having a birthday party for my aunt, and the conference room or banquet room was quite nice. The food was of a high quality and the entire building was finely decorated. It is located in a small town, so the area is quite and you don't have to worry about the safety of your loved ones. They are well taken care of at Menno Haven
