I am/was a resident of this facility

I came to the rehabilitation center with large diabetic ulcers. The wound care nurses were very informative and talked to me explaining the process of care and helping me understand how I could do self care after my release. The staff was friendly and made me feel comfortable in an other wise uncomfortable situation. The kitchen respected my diet choices and the food was delicious. The recreation staff visited my room several times a day and offered me a variety of activities to keep my spirit up.The facility appeared clean and well maintained. Housekeeping staff talked to me and were both witty and pleasant company while they were in my room.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Jim was admitted from having a choking accident and two months in critical care. The team of professionals treated him very kindly and were successful getting him of the feeding tube. He had physical therapy and speech therapy. His room was spacious and clean. They helped me understand how to care for him when he could go home. I think the facility is well run and staffed by caring professionals but like everywhere are probably understaffed these days. I never was able to meet the Dr. in charge but did have updated care meetings every other week. I recommend this facility.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I am very upset about my mothers stay at pine heights. While she was there she fell while with a physical therapist, breaking her dominant arm and 2 ribs. This extended her stay, using up her insurance. It was decided that my mom would come live with me, but I was moving. And starting a new job. They told another family member that she was being discharged in 2 days. I called and spoke to someone who said that she was the director of nursing. I asked her to see about letting my mom stay until I could finish moving and set up caregivers. She never called me back. My mom was discharged to my house full of boxes, no phone, and certainly not safe. Discharge planning is more than opening the door and booting someone out.

I visited this facility

When we first arrived at Pine Heights In Brattleboro, we immediately noticed that the age of the building has taken its toll. We put that aside and thought appearances can be deceiving and decided to continue with our visit. We were then happy to be welcomed by a very nice receptionist but discouraged by the horrific smell that lingered around the halls of the building. Then when we went up to the floor where my grandmother would reside, we saw no activities to keep the residents busy. We saw a resident sitting in her own urine which we later found out from a current resident is due too a tremendous lack of staff. and too top it off when i was leaving the facility my car window was smashed in and all valuables were stolen. when i returned too the front desk i was told they did not have cameras which i assume is due too a gross lack of funding. Overall a terrible experience and i would never consider letting anyone i cared about reside in this pathetic excuse of a nursing home.
