I am a friend or relative of resident
Short term care was remodeled so looks clean. Rooms are nice but looks are deceiving. If your loved one has serious health issues and has to be monitored for water weight because of CHF and low functioning kidneys I would not recommend this facility. I had to get my son out of there into ER in Sarasota to save his life. He was only in Green Brier for 2 weeks and gained 21 pounds of water weight. I kept asking them to weigh him. Their reply was, we only weigh once a week. I personally had aid take him to be weighed and found he was gaining water . He was so ill after 11 days he was mumbling and could hardly move . He mumbled that his whole body was so tight and everything hurt even his privates. His shorts were extremely tight so that they dug into scrotum and he had bleeding there. If he didn't have his family looking after him I believe they would have let him die in that bed. He got to the point he was filling up with water because he couldn't urinate and they did nothing. It was very traumatic for me to see him in this condition. I knew I had to get him out of there. Also one nurse ignored him for 2 nights on her shift so that he didn't get his pain or B/P meds . I found him groaning in pain in that evening. They were suppose to wrap his legs for edema and didn't do that for 6 days until I complained. Their podiatrist cut his toenails so short one was bleeding and he is diabetic. I took his socks off and saw how terribly short they were, looked like most of the nail had been cut off. I told the nurse to put antibiotic on and bandage. Horrible experience. My worst nightmare. Sarasota memorial ER is terrific. If you send a loved one to Greenbrier watch them carefully. I will say the last day they were very accommodating in getting my son to the hospital and the assistant to the director of nursing tried to address some of the problems when I became aware and told her. But no one did anything for him filling up with water lying there in pain shorts so tight cutting into him and hardly urinating until he couldn't at all by the time he got to ER.
