I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The staff interaction is horrible. They have people in charge of patient that have no respect, lie, and unhelpful. My family member was exposed to COVID while at the facility. Could never get adequate updates on my family member. The phone that they allow residents to use are never charged, lost, or unavailable. The address people by first name even without permission. The bedside manner of the nurse are rude.

I chose Bowling Green Rehabilitation because it was the only center that offered orthopedic physical therapy seven days a week. I was recovering from a replaced knee and I live alone. I wanted secure help and therapy, After the first weekend it was wonderful! The schedule was given everyday, meals were nutritious and flavorful, the staff worked very hard to make you comfortable. Every time you asked they were there. I also saw a top level of friendly interaction with all the other patients there. There were classes on health related issues, crafts, bingo, music, chats and many more. Many people participated. I have already praised and recommended this facility to my friends and whenever someone asks.

Needs more staffing. Most of the nurses, CNAs and other caregivers are wonderful. Very caring and great at their jobs. There just aren't enough CNAs to properly care for the patients.

My family checked out the Bowling Green Health and Rehabilitation Center has good reviews. I put my wife there and they never told me they had no speech therapist. My wife was NPO and was feed through stomach tube. The only liquids she received was through the tube. As time went on her blood pressure was low. They did give her blood pressure medication but that was a band aid. The real problem was not enough liquids. Her blood pressure was 70 over 40 with a temperature of 99 when her normal is 97.2 when they shipped her to hospital. This is not the way a rehab center should operate. Quality of Doctor ???????? The transporter put her on IV and gave her 500cc. Hospital gave her 500cc . Blood pressure was normal.

I visited this facility

Everything here went really well during my stay here. I was only here for a short time but the facility made up for that in more ways than one. The staff's care and concern for my health seemed like a top priority and having been to other facilities in the past, I appreciate that they cared so much. Many of the CNAs and nurses are really nice and went out of their way to help me. I really enjoyed going to the dining room and eating as well-- the food was good and they serve you like you're in a restaurant, not a nursing home.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this facility. Being to a number of different ones in my lifetime I had come to expect the dreary vibe that some places send off; Not Bowling Green. From the moment that I walked in the door I was greeted and felt almost as if the facility was my home away from home. Everyone that I came into contact with was really nice. I really enjoyed the positive energy the staff gave off and especially liked my roommate. Being in a nursing home you wouldn't expect to meet friends but I really feel like I did that here and am thankful for all the opportunities I had.

I loved the time that I spent at this facility but I'm glad that I was able to move to a place closer to my family. I enjoyed the activities and the dining room, especially since Chef Mike came. His food is so good and got me excited about eating all over again. All the staff are great and I will miss everyone.

My husband was a resident in this facility and for the most part, I am happy with the progress that he made. I do, however - which that he could have stayed a little longer but I understand that with our insurance and financial status, that wasn't possible. I would recommend that the facility hire some more staff. During our time here it seemed that the staff - especially nursing, was always rushed and I think it might have infringed upon the care that my husband received.

I was a resident in this facility for a while and really appreciate the assistance that they gave me. When I first came in I'll be the first to tell anyone that I was mess but thanks to the staff at this facility, I am much better than I used to be. Everyone is helpful and nice and that made my recovery process that much better. I would most definitely recommend this place to anyone.

I enjoyed being at this facility because it gave me the opportunity to get out and meet some new people. Everyone at the facility is great - residents included. I appreciate that the staff took time out of their busy schedules to make my stay here more enjoyable. The CNAs are friendly and helpful and always go out of their way to help you.

I have been to this facility a couple of times now and knowing what I know, don't think that I would go anywhere else. My husband has helped me a lot along the way and he and I both have had pleasant experiences with the staff and other residents alike. The rehab team does a great job of getting me back to where I need to be so that I can go home. All I want to do is go back to being normal and this place sure helped me out.

I know many people in the community and was referred here by some of them. I came in for therapy services and was really surprised at the level of care that I received. Being a younger man for this type of facility, I didn't really know what to expect but I was quickly shown that people here go out of their way to help you. The activity department provided me with various things during my time here to help keep me occupied and that definitely helped pass the time. Many of the nurses were also pleasant and helpful. Being on a bunch of new meds they were more than happy to take time out of their schedule to tell me what everything was and I appreciated that extra bit of attention in my care.

Overall, this is a wonderful place. The staff is wonderful and have so much information regarding any questions that you might have. Therapy worked around the clock with me (and everyone else I saw) to get me stable again. I am confident with the progress that I made and am excited that I get to go home in the shape that I currently am. I also want to mention how much I enjoyed the dining room. They have a new in-house chef that just started a couple months back and I really enjoyed some of his home cooked meals; it made me feel closer to home. The only suggestion that I would like to offer is that I would have preferred to see the doctor more during my time here. I understand that they are busy and have other people to accommodate but I still would have appreciated if nothing else, a friendly 'hello' any time they popped into the building.

Everything at this facility exceeded the expectations that I had coming in. Most often people think of nursing home and skilled facilities in a negative way but thankfully, my experience was nothing but pleasant. The care and compassion that the staff gives is outstanding. Dining services is wonderful and I am told that they had just added an in-house chef before I came in. I enjoyed many of the home cooked meals, not to mention the variety of courses. CNAs here are bubbly and energetic and I really feel that they helped to facilitate my wellbeing while I was here. Therapy worked hard with me and found a way to make it fun. I often found myself waking up in the morning excited to go to the gym. This facility helped support my whole family, not just myself as a resident.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I’m familiar with Bowling Green Health and Rehabilitation, toured it, and was very pleased with it. But then my husband went there for a short rehab and I don’t know whether he was having more difficulty or giving them more difficulty. They were a lovely facility and were supposed to be adequately staffed for rehab but they had just reconverted it and had a state-of-the-art physical therapy department, but my husband didn’t last two weeks. They said that they were not equipped to handle him because he was being not very cooperative and that’s the only time it’s ever happened. He kept trying to get up out of the bed, which he couldn’t, and he couldn’t walk steady on his own. They’d put him in a wheel chair, and he'd try and get to a door. He’s never been that way ever before. I only had a few meals there with him, but they were quite good. The staff, the ones that helped or tended to him personally, was very good. We were contacted and told they didn’t have the staffing and weren’t equipped to handle him and his constant efforts to get out. He basically got expelled from Bowling Green. They gave us six days of notice and said we're going to have to find another place or take him home. I was very disappointed and wouldn’t consider them a very nice facility for long-term care. Maybe, they’d be great for long-term care, but they weren’t great for helping him through the rehab. And maybe it was his fault; he just wasn’t cooperating.

I have been to a couple other facilities for therapy and this place is it! After having been here for the short time that I have, I wouldn't go anywhere else. Therapy does a great job of letting you know where you stand and what needs to be done to get you going again. The staff here are great. They are lively and energetic and go out of their way to help you. The food is phenomenal and I can't believe all the different things that activities has to offer. Pizza and movie nights are my favorite. I feel like I have made some great friends here but I'm anxious to get home and see what the future holds.

I have been to Bowling Green for therapy a couple of times now and after knowing how well they take care of you, I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. I always know what to expect coming in but someone always goes above and beyond when I'm here and helps make me feel right at home. I appreciate all the help that I'm always given; everyone is always nice. They started a new dining program since I was here last time too and I really liked that. It makes you feel like you're eating in a restaurant with the way they serve and wait on you.

I have been to this facility for respite care a couple of times. Anytime that I need a little getaway, I come here and it feels just about like home. Everyone here goes above and beyond and are always really nice. I enjoy meeting new people in the activities that the facility provides and have fun eating 'restaurant style' in their dining room. I have made some good friends in the times that I've been here and really appreciate the time that everyone took to spend with me.

Bowling Green is the one that I like best. The people are very friendly. They have activities for the residents. They have a courtyard that is really nice and they can go out there. They have screens on the wall that they can touch and see what is going on. They also have a computer available for them if they want to go online. My mother plays the piano and they have a piano in the activity room so she can go down there and play the piano. They tried to fix the dining room so it is not just a dining room. They can go down and they have a buffet where they can choose food, then they can sit down and the staff plates them like in the restaurant, so it has that restaurant feel. They can have three meals day if they want or they can stay in their room. The other thing that I love about them, they let us bring my mom and dad’s own bed into the nursing home.

My mother was a patient in Woodmont and in Bowling green back in 2012- 2013 and wow the team that they have running the place now is top notch. I'm a retired Colonel in the Marine Corp and I have high expectations. I thought my mother was in the Hampton Inn. They have a dining area for just rehab patients and they have someone there serving you like you were in a restaurant "and the food was better than my mothers cooking". I went in the dining room last weeks and they were actually serving ribs! Can you believe it..... Her room was renovated- TV's on the wall, ceramic tile in the bathroom, freshly painted, new curtains and shiny floors and you cant beat that southern hospitality!!! Tara in Admissions was great and she told me to go see the other buildings closer to me in Fredericksburg and come see here last and I'm glad I did "save the best for last"! I loved watching HGTV and the history channel when I visited my moms room. I can't say enough about the team there- they got momma back home walking. Josh, Beth, lucielle and Steve in rehab was great. I trust them with my mom after visiting Carriage Hill and Woodmont... I wasn't impressed with them at all... I asked the Discharge planner in the hospital where would she send her mom and she said Bowling Green 1st and it was worth the 25 minute drive from my home.

Amazing nurses kept me well informed of my care. Everyone showed genuine care and concern for me. Even the cooks came down to see how I liked my food. All my medicine carried over from the hospital without a problem. All that is southern hospitality with health care competence at its best!

Very mad!

My sister was admitted a month ago. During that month she was not given thyroid meds she has been on for years. Anyone with medical back ground knows how critical a problem this is. She got sick and layed in bed for nearly 24 hours vomiting and running a fever of 102. None of the staff ever called to let us know she was ill. Upon "insisting" she be taken to the hospital, we were told there has to be a Dr order in place first. Now she is at Mary Washing with a blood clot in her lung and Pneumonia. Since this, the rehab center has informed us that in order to hold my sister's bed, we have to pay an additional $263.00 per day in addition to the insurance payment. Seems to me they are more concerned about the income than the well being of the patients. I wish we had other alternatives. Further more the med list Bowling Green Rehab sent to Mary Washington , listed medications she is highly allergic to, as being "not allergic". If you care about your loved one, don't put them in this facility.

Great place to have loved ones to stay in if you can visit daily. Very clean, offer 24 hour staff (CNA and head Nurse). Very nice look and feel, may be do to being a small place. Offer single and double rooms. Very nice game room and lunch room. Clients seemed well groomed. Just a little concern about shortage of CNA staff.

My mother lived at this facility for several months after being released from the Mary Washington Hospital. It's tucked away in the tiny town of Bowling Green. The facility was clean and well kept, the staff was friendly and helpful. I didn't worry about my mother's care while she was there. The rooms are rather small, and my mom had to share her room with another patient. I'm unsure if single rooms are available. The facility didn't have any "extras." The room didn't have a TV, however we were allowed to bring in a small one from home. The rooms had a very basic "institutional look" similar to a dorm room very plain but clean and sufficient. Resident laundry is done by staff onsite, we were pleased with the service, no missing items. There is also a dining facility onsite, my mother enjoyed this amenity.
