I am/was a resident of this facility

I was here for short term rehab. My aids were outstanding, as were my nurses. The food is good, the cucumber salad is to die for and my therapy staff was amazing! Thank you Care One!

During my stay there I enjoyed the breakfast and the staff! Everyone I came in contact with was great, they were very helpful and respectful. I would definitely recommend to others! Staff members: Steve , Becky, Fraysha, Bethanie, Julie and all of the receptionist.

No real nursing care beyond med needs and vitals. Loved one fell twice and admitted to the hospital as a result, ultimately sent home with an awful untreated ulcer and they didn't tell us about it.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father spent time in the rehab at CareOne and he was very upset my the care he received. The staff is not communicative at all, whenever I called the Nursing station the phone would ring and was never answered. I would not recommend having your loved one at this facility.

Don’t trust this place for your family member! The patients sit in their soiled bottoms for so long that they get terrible rashes. 99 percent of the staff are rude and/or just don’t care. They never answer their phone so you can check on your loved one and they plain out lie!! My family member is now in the hospital for the second time directly because the lack of care and attention they failed to give!!!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Please sttay by your loved one if they are passing! My grandmother resided at Essex Park for nearly five years. Overall it was clean and safe, the nurses, activity, and facility staff took good care of her and genuinely cared about her. Over the years they made physical improvements to the building and overall it worked...until her last day of life. She had wanted to wear her 2 favorite rings and never took them off for the whole time she was there. She had mentioned that when she dies, we would have them. We knew she was in her final day, so I went to see her. On that day she held my hand tightly and I took a pic of that. I know from the pic that she was wearing at least one of the rings. I knew she loved those rings and felt the staff was reasonably honest so I did not hesitate to keep them on her. However, when she passed the nursing home was quick to offer her son her stuffed animals, but no mention of the rings. When he later questioned them, they claim they checked, but there was no sighting of them. I know that unfortunately this happens frequently at nursing homes, and it's probably just one bad apple employee l, but none the less it's stealing and wrong! I know my grandmother's karma will come to this employee, but the nursing home should have strict policies in place to track personal belongings to ensure the residents live and die with dignity. Very disappointing.

gotta be a better way

I am a friend or relative of resident

the nurses and c.n.a.'s are nice and attentive, they are the highlight of the facility. Lots of activities. it's a shame the administrators are poor communicators and lack real caring. look elsewhere first but know that the really important workers are caring. i am leaving with a sour taste due to the lack of communication...

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Essex Park Rehabilitation Center wasn't my first choice -- the ones that I was looking to get my mother into were fully booked -- but it is OK. My mother said the food is good. Coming from an assisted living where she had her own living room, bedroom, and bathroom, it is very cramped there. It is like a hospital. They have to share a room because they only have a couple of private rooms, so that is the problem.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I am a very frequent visitor at Essex Park Rehab and although some areas are not too bad their dementia unit leaves a lot to be desired. There is always an undercurrent of hostile relationships among the employees that makes for a tense and unhappy staff. Also there are several staff members who are obviously only there for the paycheck and don't seem to realize that they are caring for human beings. The head nurse on the dementia unit is quite unpleasant and attempts to discourage any care for the residents beyond what their once a week visiting doctor gives. If this were the only facility around it would make a good case for the late Dr. Kevorkian's theory. As bad as it is Essex Rehab is actually better than several other Beverly facilities and one must go to West Peabody and Danvers to find better care.

I visited this facility

Nurses and CNAs are very nice to both residents and visitors. They seem to genuinely care about residents both as patients and friends. Equipment is all up to date. There are daily activities as well as special group activities at least once a week. The main thing holding the facility back seems to be corporate. They are out of touch with what is necessary to keep the facility running smoothly, sometimes leaving nurses short-staffed, forcing them to rely on temp agencies. Overall is a very nice facility, I would trust them with my own relatives.
