I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was in Bridgeway Senior Living for rehab, and everything worked out fine. The people were very nice to her. She loved the food. The therapists were good, and the nurses were good. Based on her just being there for therapy, she liked it. The facility was nice, but based on COVID limitations, I could not go into the room. I could only meet her in a standard location that all patients and guests can visit. I didn't like that because every other location I went to, they did not have those restrictions. I can only go see her so many hours during the week and so many hours on the weekend, but that was all due to COVID. I had some issues with trying to get her released. I dealt with a couple of the administrative folks on that end, but that's that the extent of it. They were very nice. She does group exercise therapy-wise, but there are no other activities for the folks in therapy. All of it was handled through insurance, so she didn't pay.

Don’t be fooled by the remodeled lobby. While this nursing home has some redeeming qualities (nice grounds, sitting room, holiday celebrations were nice)... It is understaffed and nursing staff/CNAs were negligent. The ONE nurse I ever interacted with was cold and disengaged. They rarely if ever answered the call light. I’d go every single sunday for over a year and every time my dad was sitting in his own urine. His wheelchair pad soaking wet. I’d have to wait at the nurses stand a very long time just to find someone to tell them he needed to be changed. I’d hang around after and no one would ever come. Surprise! He wound up with a terrible bed sore that ultimately caused his death. The nicest people were the janitorial staff who were very fond of my dad and very kind because he was a loveable character. The physical therapy staff were generally kind too. The CNAS and the nurse (the most important!) left much to be desired and i’m being kind by saying that. They were underpaid and understaffed. I get that. But these residents deserve to be treated with dignity and I didn’t often see that despite being there A LOT.Id spend hours there. If your loved one goes to bridgeway it is imperative to visit often, ask a lot of questions about care, hold them accountable, check in constantly, clean their room yourself (it was often dirty). My biggest complaint was that nurse. So rude to my dad who later was suffering from dementia. He’d say something that wasn’t true like that he was going on vacation or something and I caught her cruelly arguing with him that “NO you aren’t”. Everyone knows best practice is not to challenge dementia patients and sit with them in their reality. Heartless. Burned out? whatever it was i still haven’t forgiven her. Bottom line, they accept medicaid and compared to other medicaid facilities it’s not the worst. You just have to be very very involved to ensure your loved on is safe and well cared for.

Anna M. at the front desk has been over the years- the most helpful, customer oriented, and pleasant person representing you. She has helped me with different issues on numerous occasions-and so helpful and a great listener!!! You are blessed to have someone of her caliber representing your organization. If you have any form of recognition for Anna M.- I think she is a worthy candidate!!! I would love to hear what kind of recognition you give to employees like here!! Thank you!

I am very satisfied, however, I would like to see my Mom walk more, as her legs are ok and she mentions wanting to get up more often and move around. I like the care and attention she gets and overall, I feel confident about the staff and the facility.

I have been very impressed with the facility on many counts. It has a beautiful, sunny common area. The facility is clean, the food has been well accepted by my Aunt. But most of all, I have found the staff- nurses, therapists, social worker, to be warm, friendly and and very responsive and attentive to my Aunt's needs and our concerns.

My father is at Bridgeway in Bensenville. It is all good, so far. They have all the typical things, and they do have physical therapy. It has only been a few weeks, but we have been very happy. We haven't been there long enough for complaints yet. It has all been very nice.

My father is currently at Bridway Christina Village. The upkeep of the pubilc areas is decent, the rooms are all private, and the rehab staff are very nice. However, the nursing staff is extremely inefficient and incompetent. My father has sat in urine for 3-5 hours due to no one answering his calls. It has taken over 1.5 hours to get pain meds. There are ants in his room. The food is really bad and while one doesn't expect much of 'mass produced food' as the facility manager stated to me, you would think the staff would be concerned when a patient is not eating and losing weight at an alarming rate. Food arrives with dirty utensils, no beverage, and even though it has been addressed nothing changes. If you value your loved ones, DO NOT send them to this facility.

I am a friend or relative of resident

After reviewing the options for nursing homes in our area, we decided to visit Bridgeway Christian Village and decided that it was a comfortable, yet affordable, option for my mom. However, that was about as good as it got. The staff at this nursing home is either severely understaffed or lazy. When we first arrived at the facility, it took the staff two full hours before they acknowledged her arrival. We then requested a Hoyer lift for her to be transported to bed. It took them over 45 minutes to locate the only functioning lift in the entire facility, a machine that should be readily available in a nursing home. The only time you'll see a nurse is if medication is needed (most are LPN). The PCA has to cover the entire floor, so my mom needed to sit in her urine or feces for at least an hour because no one answered the call light. She developed bed sores because only family or our caregiver would help her roll over in bed. Soon after she arrived at the facility, the head physical therapist wanted to see if she could walk. We repeatedly told him that she couldn't walk, but he claimed that he was a "doctor" and knew what he was doing. Without even testing her muscle strength, three physical therapists tried standing her up. In trying to move her to the commode by standing, they gave her several bruises and a cut on her leg. We have photo and video evidence of this abuse. My mom was in this home for a few months, and it was the worst decision I've ever made. She died of septic shock, most likely due to the bed sore. If family wasn't there on a daily basis, she wouldn't have even lived that long.

I visited this facility

Our mother was at Bridgeway for almost six weeks. Pain management is not available at the facility which is surprising since there are so many elderly patients there. This caused a major problem in the care of our mother. Primarily though, I would not recommend the facility because of the inconsistency in the care provided and lack of follow through. Upper management did not take any responsibility and neglected to follow through on the problems brought to their attention. They were grossly negligent in making sure she received proper nutrition and administering proper medications for her conditions. Many times we had to bring issues and problems to their attention, even things as basic as a constant, rattling cough that went untreated for several days. Find another facility!

The thing that we really liked about Bridgeway was it was all private rooms. Even the Medicaid rooms are private rooms. It is very clean; you don't walk in and get the smell that you do in some homes. The staff is very nice and very helpful. They are really good to my mom, but I would say their biggest problem especially on weekends, it seems that they are understaffed. They have different functions, and she kind of likes the socializing part of it. I don't think as far as having to be in a nursing home that I would go there, but for my mom, I think it is really nice and she likes it there. We looked at a lot of these homes, and this one was so much nicer than any of them. The rooms are a nice size, and since she is in a wheelchair, it is easier for her to get the things that she wants to get in her wheelchair. Their rehab part is just the best.

This is a great facility. It is clean and the nursing staff is wonderful. You can tell that the staff really care about the residents. The landscaping is beautiful with nice places for the residents to sit outside around gardens or get shade. They have wonderful opportunities for the residents to participate in. They have sing-a-longs, bingo, pizza nights and sometimes take them to the theater to see a show. They also offer craft classes and exercise classes for the residents to participate in. The food does not always look that good and could be improved. Some of the residents complain that it is a little bland. There is a snack shop that is open during the day if the residents want to buy a snack or popcorn. It is a Christian owned facility so they have a nice church service on Sunday mornings. If therapy is needed, the therapy department is top notch. They spend quality time helping the patients reach their full potential. Communication is also very good between the staff at this facility and the patients. Some of the rooms are nicer than the others, depending on which wing you are on.

I visited this facility

Bridgeway Christian Village is a very nice nursing home and I would recommend it. The building is attractive on the inside and outside, the lobby is spacious and much more inviting than the majority of nursing homes that I have seen. The rooms are pretty typical, nothing extraordinary, but they do seem clean. The nursing station is close by and the nurses seemed quite caring and concerned about their patients. There is also an attractive meeting room at the facility for family conferences and meetings with the staff. Parking is ample and it is located next to an assisted living facility which is also quite nice. My main objection is the lack of diversity among the patients.
