Reviews of Belair Nursing and Rehabilitation Center

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
give the Belair very poor reviews for a person recovering from a stroke. My Mom suffered a major stroke and we selected the Belair based upon its reputation, its cheery appearance and the friendliness of the staff that we met there. Our experience was that the Belair is understaffed with respect to nursing and overstaffed with respect to administration. They were not equipped to deal with my Mom’s needs, even though their advertisements promote their skill with aphasia and other stroke impacts, even though her symptoms were classic and even though they did a full medical assessment before accepting my Mom as a patient . On two separate occasions my Mom fell and had to go to the hospital for tests. The physical therapists and the speech therapist told us that Mom was making very limited recovery progress and that she would soon plateau. However, we transferred her to a different facility and now her recovery arc is significant. As of last week, she was able to walk 40 feet with a walker, which is an amazing improvement. My family feels that it is important, particularly given the seemingly stellar reputation of the Belair, to let other families know about our experience. The Belair is not a good choice for stroke victims.

I am/was a resident of this facility
The Best! I've had more than my share of hospitals and recovery, and Belair is exceptional. The patient is provided with loving care 24/7. The physical therapy is compassionate and aware of the pain of their patients. They work well even with those who flat out refuse to do the exercise that will relieve their pain and make them whole. This is my second stay at Belair so you can give them ten stars from me. ( highly recommend them.

I visited this facility
The people at Belair Nursing and Rehabilitation were very friendly, informative and cheerful. The place was very clean. It was just remodeled and new-looking. They seem to have all the necessary rehabilitation facilities for people that are just learning to walk again. They have big eating areas where they would walk them in, like a dining room. They actually have a library there. I liked the bedrooms, they were large. They can improve on the rehab room because it seemed like the physical therapist had a lot of people there at the same time. They seemed very busy. I'd recommend this facility to others.

The staff was very friendly and actually knew what was going on with the patients in their care. They always make sure that medications are dispensed on time and accurately, and they are very patient with the patients. They always are constantly checking in on the patients, and communicate very well with family members. The building, at the time was very old, but it was clean and organized. The food looked like it was very good and my grandmother said it was much better than most. Also it is nice to see the same staff members there for a long time which to me means that they like what they are doing, rather than treat it like a job that just pays the bills. When I walked through the building I always got a nice smile from everyone I came in contact with. Also it looked like their equipment was up to date and pretty new. The building has since been removed and they built a new complex that is about 10 times the size.
