This place is scary. My dad is blind with dementia and has been kicked out of the VA hospital, and this is where they sent him. his wife who now says she can’t take care of him said it was a decent place. So I went down and that could not be further from the truth. The employees were some of the rudest I’ve ever seen. Would not even talk or answer questions. One did tell me that this is not the place for him. No compassion what so ever. Small roaches, dated, and dirty. The residents do not get cared for properly without a doubt. Very bad place. It’s a shock that you can operate a business in this manner. You are suppose to be providing care. How is this legal?

My grandmother was sent here because she has Dementia and my family was no longer able to give her the care that she needed. We were assured multiple times by the staff that they could handle her. While the staff were friendly, this nursing home did not fill out the proper paperwork with Medicaid. My grandmother was admitted to the hospital and now the nursing home has refused to take her back. They say her bed has already been giving away. And because they didn't file the correct paperwork with Medicaid no other facility can take her. They also have to give a 30 day notice before they release the patients which they DID NOT DO. They basically dumped her at the hospital, and every time we call up there the administrators are "in a meeting"

My friend was in "rehab" there for 11 days. He got one shower. Shower was requested /promised on day 8, not given. His bed sheets were not changed for over the first 7 days. Not sure how many PT/OT sessions were filed for, but he only got 4 half-assed sessions. did most of his rehab by walking the halls himself. Some staff truly cared but were overworked due to covering for subpar staff. Cookie, the nutritionist, tried...spoke to us and listed likes and dislikes in food choices. 24 hours later I retuned a plate that held ONLY dislikes, got apology and noticed slight improvement. most plates included at least one item from the dislike list, and was usually cold. it became a joke for us. He was rarely given a cup for water outside of meal or pill time. The atmosphere is sad and depressing.

I do not like this facility. There was a problem with the water bugs and I am afraid of those bugs. The food was awful. They need to improve. The night shift was awful. They chose the time to help me even though I had Call the nurse

About, how the STAFF is allowed to mistreat the residents! The rooms are average. Look seriously. Do not put your loved ones here! I would not put my worst enemy here.

The Place is NOT the Place to be. Please do not be fooled by their commercial. Please do not bring your love one there. There are only 2-3 nurses(LPN'S) & 2-3 Nursing Assistants that actually want to provide care to those residents. The rest are absolutely horrible. The Administration is a complete joke. Feel free to contact me if you want the real story of "The Place at Martinez". I finally got my mother out of there. Please if you care about your family member, do not let them be placed at that facility. I promise you will regret it. Lisa Comeaux
