This place is scary. My dad is blind with dementia and has been kicked out of the VA hospital, and this is where they sent him. his wife who now says she can’t take care of him said it was a decent place. So I went down and that could not be further from the truth. The employees were some of the rudest I’ve ever seen. Would not even talk or answer questions. One did tell me that this is not the place for him. No compassion what so ever. Small roaches, dated, and dirty. The residents do not get cared for properly without a doubt. Very bad place. It’s a shock that you can operate a business in this manner. You are suppose to be providing care. How is this legal?

My grandmother was sent here because she has Dementia and my family was no longer able to give her the care that she needed. We were assured multiple times by the staff that they could handle her. While the staff were friendly, this nursing home did not fill out the proper paperwork with Medicaid. My grandmother was admitted to the hospital and now the nursing home has refused to take her back. They say her bed has already been giving away. And because they didn't file the correct paperwork with Medicaid no other facility can take her. They also have to give a 30 day notice before they release the patients which they DID NOT DO. They basically dumped her at the hospital, and every time we call up there the administrators are "in a meeting"

My friend was in "rehab" there for 11 days. He got one shower. Shower was requested /promised on day 8, not given. His bed sheets were not changed for over the first 7 days. Not sure how many PT/OT sessions were filed for, but he only got 4 half-assed sessions. did most of his rehab by walking the halls himself. Some staff truly cared but were overworked due to covering for subpar staff. Cookie, the nutritionist, tried...spoke to us and listed likes and dislikes in food choices. 24 hours later I retuned a plate that held ONLY dislikes, got apology and noticed slight improvement. most plates included at least one item from the dislike list, and was usually cold. it became a joke for us. He was rarely given a cup for water outside of meal or pill time. The atmosphere is sad and depressing.

About, how the STAFF is allowed to mistreat the residents! The rooms are average. Look seriously. Do not put your loved ones here! I would not put my worst enemy here.

The Place is NOT the Place to be. Please do not be fooled by their commercial. Please do not bring your love one there. There are only 2-3 nurses(LPN'S) & 2-3 Nursing Assistants that actually want to provide care to those residents. The rest are absolutely horrible. The Administration is a complete joke. Feel free to contact me if you want the real story of "The Place at Martinez". I finally got my mother out of there. Please if you care about your family member, do not let them be placed at that facility. I promise you will regret it. Lisa Comeaux

This is not a place for your loved one. They start out okay but eventually do not care and do not monitor like they should. The staff are not helpful and extremely lazy practices. Run from this place!

The building is clean. The front office staff, or first greeters, are professional. But the clinical care, which is what patients need has a lot to be desired. Particularly the Director of Nursing. She and her Assistant Director are very unprofessional, lack compassion or basic nursing skills. The overturn in clinical staff is tremendous, therefore they rely heavily on PRN staff who lack the knowledge of required care for patients. But dare complain or ask for help for your loved one. You will not even get the respect to ask questions. Instead you will be greeted by director of nursing and assistant director to be defensive, Lou’s, abrasive. The Nursing Assistants are awesome and exhibit true care and concern. I’m confident if we could have spoke to the owner of our concerns this would not be tolerated. She is a professional. Woman seeking the best care for patients. But due to the poor clinical care for patients, this facility has a lot to be desired.

The patient beds are little more than metal frames with pallets, the roof leaks. The book keeper lethargic, the rest of the administration bizarre at best. One front office staff member has hair that changes color daily from green to purple 3 inches green finger nails, I am not sure what she does. some of the aides are excellent and others really bad. very disappointing.

This place was everything I could ask for in a place to put my mom. They went above and beyond while my mom was there for 3years. They have great staff and a clean facility.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother has been there about 3 years. It seems like in the last year I've been disappointed regularly. I hand delivered a monthly payment, I was told it accidentally go thrown out. I had to pay the stop payment fee. My mother's Christmas presents accidentally were thrown out. The admin. did try to replace those. I've scheduled and have money in her account for her hair to be cut every 7-8 wks, requesting bangs, I doesn't happen unless I bring it up. Today I took off her shoe and sock to check her toe nails, they were about 1/2 in long. I asked about that, and was told she's scheduled with a podiatrist tomorrow. I then checked her room, one of her leather shoes was almost under the AC unit, obviously for a long time as it was wet and moldy, the other one looked just fine, practically new. I pointed it out to 2 staff members, one said "sorry about the shoe". They let me know about bumps and cuts. On one visit a staff member told me her shoes were to tight, I asked why they didn't her walking shoes on, the lady beat around the bush then finally told me my mom's incontinence had ruined them. My big question was why didn't call and let me know she needed shoes. My experience is they tell you what you want to hear until you can dig out the truth. I was concerned that my mom normally wore most of her food. I asked if glasses might help, I was assured that they gave my mom her glasses during activity time. That was interesting as my didn't have any glasses. My advice is ALWAYS check on the person in a nursing home, head to toe, and closets to see what's there and what's gone.

My mother said that if ever she had to go in a nursing home, she had to go with the one that has a white picket fence. It's a one story facility. It's very large and clean. It appears to have a good amount of staff. Everyone is very friendly and outgoing. When my father was in a nursing home, they had that dreaded wet diaper smell everywhere and this facility does not have any of that. It does not give you the depressed feeling. It's very open and bright with lots of windows. My husband had taken her down to the dining hall for lunch. They had pork or something and she's not a big pork eater but I know they had a variety of meals. She could have picked out. Even though she said she was willing to go in a nursing home, she's not happy being only there for one day. To go from a 3-bedroom house where she lives by herself to one room is gonna be a bit of an adjustment on her part. We're very comfortable with the social services person and everybody is friendly, answer questions and helpful.

I visited this facility

I feel as though the company put up a good front. They all seemed really nice when you were talking about being a part of there facility, but there was the occasional few that were really smart talkers and acted like they were better than everyone. The staff seemed ok upon taking care of there patients however there were the few that just seemed as though they wish they didnt have to be there and when you see that you have to wonder. The facility was clean and was very roomy. Was at a nice location and seemed very secure. You felt as though you could consider this facility a home until the few bad apples had to come across you.
