I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom is in assisted living in Cedar Court, and we're just going to move her into the memory care unit there. I think she has been happy there, but they just feel like she needs more care. She needs more than assisted living at this point. The apartments are comfortable. They were concerned for her welfare as her memory was getting worse. The staff members are pretty caring. I don't think we have any problem with the staff. I think the staff has been caring. In the assisted living, my mom is lonely, she doesn't see a lot of people. I think she stays in her apartment a lot. She feels lonely there, and that's part of the reason why I want to get her into memory care, so maybe she'll get more contact with people. They have comfortable, nice size apartments. She has a like a living room, a kitchen area, and a separate bedroom. It's a nice size and comfortable, so she is pretty happy there as far as that. It was updated pretty well. They are good about painting before they move anybody into a room. They have activities. They have bingo. They had an activity director that had a few things, but she left as far as I understand, so there is less than there had been originally. They always have bingo, and they still do that. They had like Hawaiian day, and they got them all dressed up. I only know about that because they do show them on Facebook once in a while. The dining area was clean and big. When my mom first moved in there, it was at the beginning of the pandemic, so they had her in her room for a long time, just eating, and so she didn't get to see people. I think she gets out more now. They can look into the courtyard, and they do have windows facing out. We moved my mom into the room facing the courtyard, but she said there wasn't any path or picnic tables, and we're kind of disappointed with that. She just kind of looked out in the courtyard and nothing was going on there. The maintenance is pretty good. I really didn't see anything that caused any alarm or anything. They've got less staff. They have a beauty salon. I don't take care of the financial part, and my brothers that live close take care of it, but I think it's comparable to other places around there.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I don't think the care that my grandmother received was good enough for her needs. I felt that we took care of her more than they did. Myself or my family was constantly getting her water, snacks, and washing her. I feel like a lot of those duties could have been met by the people working there. I was uncomfortable having certain people care for her because they didn't seem very reliable. On one occassion, a nurse actually rolled her eyes at my grandmother for needing to use the bathroom for a second time within an hour. They also used the wrong sized lift to lift her from bed, giving her really nasty and painful bruises. On another ocassion, they ran out of her blood thinner medication which could have been really dangerous for her or any other resident.
