I visited this facility

The staff was very helpful at Eastbrooke Gardens, I would consider them. The fees were a little high. I have financial things to work out, but I was very pleased with them. They informed me about what they offered and all was good. The place was OK. The surroundings were very nice; I wouldn’t mind living there myself. They have social activities; patients just don’t sit in their rooms and stare at the wall. They are encouraged to get up and do things and participate. I didn’t taste any of the food so I don’t know how that was, but it looked good. They had a chef and a kitchen and all that stuff. The grounds were nice and very well-kept. The rooms were very clean, nice showers, bathrooms; all appeared very good. They have some Alzheimer’s patients and patients with just memory problems that are Alzheimer’s related.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Eastbrook Gardens was a facility for dementia and it is an okay facility. They advised me not to come for a couple of weeks and give him time to adjust, but in the meantime he fell, had a brain bleed, and died. I met him the first day and had lunch with him. They specialize in dementia and a lot of the people looked very happy, so I guess they’re doing a good job. It was kind of homey; it was not real fancy or contemporary, and it seemed that they had good programs to keep him busy. I like the fact that if he didn’t like what they were serving, he could request a hamburger, a hotdog, or a sandwich. The food was good and the nursing staff seems good. The nicest part about it was had he lived a long time, he would have had hospice there too.

The communication about the medical care -- as I was trying to get him some psychiatric care -- was difficult; I just couldn’t make any headway with getting answers and I think they need to improve on that area.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Eastbrooke Gardens is a very large community and it has a mixture of patients. The building is updated and the facility is nice. The staff was at times overwhelmed because of the number of patients, the level of work, and the lack of employees -- especially during the weekend. You have patients roaming and staff missing. There was an odor of urine and other mixtures -- it just did not turn out to be what I expected.

The entire staff is so caring and supportive. The Valentine Party was huge success. The activities Director held a candlelight meal for residents and spouses which was great. I'm so glad to have found this facility.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Having mom in Eastbrook Gardens is the best move I made for her. My mom is a friendly person. She comes from a strong Christian background. She always says "God Bless You" to the staff. She always hugs and kisses them and the staff handles that so well. There was no rejection. They embrace her for who she is. They are like family to her. Everyone handles my mother well.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Eastbrooke Gardens is an amazing place!! My mother entered as a resident on Nov. 1st of 2012 and it was a difficult thing to do. We followed the recommendations of the staff and Mom made a great transition. they provide a lot of fun activities for the residents and are very quick to answer any questions you have about the care they provide and concerns you may have. this is the first time I have had to place a parent in a residence like this and I am so happy with the results. One of the things I appreciate is how much they make it seem like they are caring for their own family member. It is that sense of family that i so enjoy. We visit often because of the welcome we get from the staff!! Thank you to staff: Mary, Jamie, Ellen, Amanda, Douglas, Maria and all the others who make eastbrooke Gardens a great place for a relative with alzheimers/dementia. Thank you!!!
