I am a friend or relative of a resident
The minute we walked in at Peggy Kelly House II, it was a perfect fit for my husband. He was there for 30 days. It was small, only ten residents capacity. They have lots of loving and caring staff. I was also impressed with the atmosphere, it was family style. They also ate dinner that way. The activity was just geared to the patient, whatever the individual person is capable of doing. They didn't make them do crafts or play bingo. Everything was just perfect.

An assisted living facility for folks diagnosed with dementia. It's a very comfortable house with 10-12 bedrooms surrounding the great room area that is divided into a living room and dining room. A large open kitchen and a sitting room with a bird aviary are off to the side and lead to a secure back yard that has a garden, concrete paths for walking, & a gazebo in the center. There is an area by the laundry room that has salon equipment, so the ladies can get beauty treatments; and a library with games and puzzles besides books for all reading levels. Staff work with family members to find out what interests residents; and activities can be altered to accomodate new residents and/or changing interests and capabilities. Mom enjoyed going to the grocery store and helping fold laundry; as well as working on puzzles & reading and eventually looking through picture books or watching the birds; although her favorite time was the daily sing-a-long. My mother lived there for almost 5 years; and after the first 6 months considered it home. Whenever we walked in the door those first few months, she asked who we were visiting - there was nothing to indicate this was a 'facility'; no lingering medicinal smells or unclean odors, soft pink and green decor with wainscoating and a chair rail along the walls, etc. - it was obviously a well cared for home. The staff was very attentive and caring. When Mom succumbed to lung cancer and was being discharged from the hospital, I thought I would have to find another facility. But the owner and staff insisted that Mom return "home" where they worked with a hospice to make her comfortable her last few months; and she died in her own bed, feeling secure and loved. God led me to this amazing facility and staff; making the final journey with my mother so much easier. Your loved one would be lucky to be a resident of this amazing facility.
