I visited this facility

We toured the Azura Memory Care of Sheboygan but it's not the right fit for my mother. The staff seemed friendly, but they're short-staffed; but of course, that's for every place I've been. The person who gave me the tour wasn't as friendly as the other place we toured, she didn't make me feel comfortable. Their rooms were small. I just didn't get a comfortable feeling about the place. It's located in a brand-new hospital, and there's every restaurant you can think of and pharmacies.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband has been in Azura Memory Care of Sheboygan since May. It is a good place. The thing that has changed there since I put him there is they do not have an activity director. And that's what I'm kind of looking forward to because right now he has nothing to occupy himself. And the other negative is it's 40 minutes for me to get there. But otherwise, it's a good place, they take good care of them, the meals are good, and the attendants are very good with him. The rooms are a little bit on the small side, but they are workable. He does have to share a bathroom. The room is big enough. He's got a stand-up wardrobe in there, a single bed, and a lounger. And I have put a table there to put some pictures on but it's full of that. Mhm. It wasn't a problem when they had an activity director because then he wasn't always in the room, but now that they don't have one it seems a little confining. When they had a director, she would have them paint things, do sand art, decorate hats, or do whatever activities they were doing during the summer. They had some activities outside, and she had organized exercise every morning where they all got together in front of the TV and did a series of exercises, which I thought was good for him. Currently, no one organizes a lot of things. I know they do some singing in the morning, but I guess I miss the fact that they were getting him up and having them do exercises, which I thought was important. One thing I do like about that facility is the general areas are very bright, cheery, and comfortable. The general areas are very homey. I mean you go in there and you feel comfortable there. It doesn't seem like a nursing home. I mean everything's open, the decorations are very complimentary, there's a lot of sunlight coming on, there's a lot of windows, there is some wildlife outside the windows, and there are deer and birds. Excuse me, but there are birds. They had two fenced-in patios, and I thought that was awesome. The staff rate would depend if it's on a weekend or weekday, the weekday staff are a five.

I visited this facility

Azura Memory Care of Sheboygan was well taken care of. I would have taken my mother there because the staff was just good and the facility was well-maintained. There were staff working with the residents and the meals looked very good. It was clean and they had options for people that are either late risers or early to bed. They took very well care of the residents. They had interactive staff when we were there.

About Azura Memory Care of Sheboygan in Sheboygan, Wisconsin

At Azura Memory Care we recognize that what's on the walls isn't as important, as who is walking the floor. Held-up as a standard in dementia care, MOSAIC honors the personhood of each individual by understanding that dementia is a disability in only specific areas of the brain, not the whole person.
