I visited this facility

I visited Brookdale Harbor Bay. I was very impressed with them and I would consider them in the future. It was very nicely done and very clean. They had outdoor areas and the kitchen area looked very good and they had recreation. It was all very good. The staff was very professional and caring. The dining area seemed clean, had lots of light, and was spacious. It was nice.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father stayed at Brookdale Harbor Bay before he passed and there were several things we liked about the community. The executive director, Gaye, was amazing and her staff was well-trained. They had been there for years and they had a real team approach to my dad's care. The community was extremely clean and the other residents were nicely dressed and kept. It was just a nice memory care facility. They had activities posted every day. They had morning activities and several snacks throughout the day. They also had afternoon activities. The meals were prepared and nicely presented. My dad, because he was so sick, did not participate in all of the activities but when I walked through the community, I could see the activities. They had sewing and quilting, painting, and singing so there were lots of fun things happening.

I visited this facility

We went to Brookdale Harbor Bay. It's specifically for memory care. We liked it very much. It's a smaller facility, and I think they only have less than 40 residents. The staff seemed very nice, very patient, and respectful to the residents. The executive director spent a lot of time with us and made sure all of our questions were answered. The apartments looked very nice, and all of the rooms looked out on courtyards rather than parking lots. For each one, whether it was a semi-private or whatever, they seemed to be roomy. They were not obviously very big, but enough so that a person could feel comfortable, not like they're stuck in a closet. When we went, it was dinnertime, so most of the residents were in the dining room. We met the activities director, and she was leaving as we were touring, but I didn't really see any evidence of activities. We went to other facilities, and on those tours you could see artwork or potted plants, and some evidence of activities. I didn't see anything at Brookdale, so that was kind of like a big gap. They told me that there were lots of activities that they did for them, but I didn't see anything like that. That was kind of a big question mark for me. The dining area was very nice, cheerful, and roomy. They were about to serve dinner when we walked through, and it smelled really good. It smelled like something that I wouldn't mind sitting down and eating myself, but we didn't get a chance to see the food. They had a huge screen TV on, and this was before everybody had their food yet. They were all seated at different tables, but then somebody came in and just shut the TV off. They were just sitting there like there wasn't anything for them to do except just wait for their food. Another thing that I was curious to see was how long they would be just sitting there without their food yet or not doing anything. That was kind of odd for my brother and myself, that they just shut off the TV.

When I walked in at Brookdale Harbor Bay, it was so cheerful. It's just a beautifully arranged home. I watched the residents there, looked at how they were dressed, how much the staff was spending time with them, and what the whole atmosphere of the place was like. I think it would suit my sister. Their amenities are nice. They do a lot of games, puzzles, art classes, and they have their own bus to take the residents on field trips. They have TV rooms, but it is not like in other places where all the residents in wheelchairs are parked in front of the TV. They have a lot of activities going on and they try to engage the residents in these activities.

I visited this facility

Brookdale Harbor Bay was willing to help, and the staff was very nice. They do shopping, bingo, crafts, and different kind of things to help with the memory care. The grounds were very nice, clean, and well-kept. The neighborhood was very nice too.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My father-in-law did three weeks of respite care there at Clare Bridge at Shoreline View. However, there weren't a possibility of moving them to Medicaid and there wasn't an assisted living for my mother-in-law. However, I thought the facility was very lovely. It was very friendly and very nice. There was a lot of music that came in. The staff seemed very pleasant. I wish we could have kept them there, I really love that place.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We’ve moved my aunt to Clare Bridge. I thought it had a better atmosphere. It’s a fairly small community. The staff seems very accommodating. She has been there about a week now. They have exercises that they do with folks that want to do them. I like the fact that it wasn’t too small. It didn’t appear so much like an institutional kind of place.

Clare Bridge at Shoreline View was an older facility. It was a two or three story building. However, I was not super impressed with the staff.

I visited this facility

When I visited Clare Bridge, I was impressed by the appearance. It was clean and well kept. It was very warm and cozy as well. A wonderful place to be. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They helped me find my way and also gave me a short brief tour. All the residents seemed very happy and pleasant. There were many activities in place for the residents for entertainment. They also had a very relaxing courtyard to go do yoga or just to relax. The cafeteria was very open and casual. The food was well made, as if homemade. The whole building was very spacious and comfortable. I appreciated all the kind people around that made my visit more enjoyable. The staff made me as well as the residents feel very welcome and meaningful as well as brighten our day. They really put a lot of care into this facility and pride in making the safe and comfortable environment that they have here.
