I chose Brookdale Ormond Beach West because I think it best fits my sister's needs because of her advanced dementia and memory problems. Plus, the apartments for the residents are very nice. It's almost like a little studio apartment and they're very clean and updated. The people there are very nice. Their CNAs or LPNs, their health directors, and their activity director have all been there for over ten years. So far, my sister said the food is fine. They ask you what type of food your loved one prefers. As far as amenities, it's a very wide open facility. It's circular and U-shaped, so there's a lot of walking room where the residents can walk around. They have a beautiful courtyard where they plant things and the residents plant things. They have a nice lanai off the courtyard to sit on. They have a nice sitting room upfront with a fireplace and a television if the residents just want to be in the wide open with everybody. I don't know the staff all that well, but the ones I've met are very, very nice and very considerate. I've had little few glitches, but nothing major. I'm sure it's just overwhelming for them or they're too busy, but they're getting straightened out. The activities are wonderful. I've been to a couple of them myself. The activity director has been there for 11 years. She gets the residents involved and she does a lot of fun things. It's a little pricy though. They're in the range, but they're a little higher than some of the other ones.

My dad is in Brookdale Ormond Beach West. It's a memory care and it's well maintained, it didn't smell bad, and it looked good. The residents were out and about in the community when I visited. They weren't stuck in their rooms and they were engaged in activities. The staff was very friendly and they seemed to enjoy the residents and care about them. For this facility, they have to be quarantined for 5 days before they are allowed out of their rooms so that means the family can come and visit then. Unfortunately for my dad, once he got out of quarantine, we were going to visit him but we discovered about 4 days after he got out of quarantine that he got COVID. We have not seen him or been able to see how he's doing there. It's all been communicated by the staff. They've also had outside home health come in to visit him, and they've all been giving good reports of his status and his care. His room is nice. It has a little kitchenette, a little living room, a bedroom, and its own bathroom with a walk-in shower. I thought, for one person, it's a pretty good setup and more than what he even needed. They have activities in the morning, in the afternoons, and on weekends. Today, we stopped by there just to drop off some goodies for him. As I was looking in the window, out in the great room or the community living room, they had live music and everybody was sitting around watching the people sing, and they seemed to be having a good time. It was a shame that we couldn't get in to see them, but they seemed to be having a good time. One of our issues is that my parents were not very big savers and this is pretty expensive. At least I think it is. They told me that you get what you pay for but there is another Brookdale that's about 35-40 minutes away in another town, and we're going to be going and looking at that at the end of this coming week because their price is about $2000 cheaper. It's the same company. One is just located out in the country and the other is located in town. I asked them why they can't get these same rates here in town and they just gave me the feeling of, "We're the best" and all that. It's not going to be doable for us to pay this amount long term. I think they're a little pricey.

The staff members at Brookdale Ormond Beach West were not as attentive as those at the other places I visited. There were more residents and not as many caregivers, and I saw a lot less interaction among them, but it's not a bad place. The rooms looked clean, nice, fresh, and appropriate.

Brookdale Ormond Beach West was amazing. It was clean and well organized. There's an activity space. The rooms were private with private showers, but there's always staff to help. They were all very friendly. They have at least one nurse on staff 24 hours a day.

My mother-in-law is in Brookdale Ormond Beach West. Their staff is extremely caring, friendly, loving, very attentive, patient, and they have great energy. They have a beautiful outside garden that the folks can come and go. It's not secured, so they can come in and out of that area. They have activities throughout the day like games, music, and movies. She loves the food there. It's a beautiful facility. They're very timely in following things up. There isn't anything negative about my experience there.

My mother is in Brookdale Ormond Beach West. They have a good activities director and 24-hour nursing, which is a big deal to us. So far, it's working out fine. The rooms are pretty large. It has two little, nice areas. There's a courtyard with beautiful gardens that her room looks out onto. It has a bathroom with easy access for a wheelchair. The people genuinely care about the residents.
