I was at Iris Memory Care of NW Oklahoma City yesterday to drop off some things for my husband. I'm not able to see him right now because they want to get him in a routine so I won't probably be able to see him for another week perhaps, but so far I like it. It has been remodeled and it's bright and cheery. I set up his room and it seems to have enough room in it for him to move around. The people seem to be very nice. They're always so helpful. He's got a big window in his room, and it looks out over to a courtyard-type thing, and it's so pretty out there. It's got a small closet and a big bathroom with a lot of handrails and I liked that part. He's in hospice. So they brought a bed and they furnished the wheelchairs. I moved his recliner in there and a couple of chairs and took pictures. There's just plenty of room to kind of set it up like home. I like the rooms and the food always smelled really good, but I have not tried it. The memory care has different activities for them to do and games to play. I don't know if he would ever get involved because he doesn't like that competition to play games and stuff, but I saw them playing with balloons and stuff that people like that can handle. So I think that they're probably going to be good at that, too. The staff is great. All of them have been nice. The facility is very clean and it smells nice. There are no odors or anything in there like there are in a lot of facilities. They're really expensive, but all memory care is, and I know they're a little bit cheaper than some of the other ones in Oklahoma City.

Moving our dad to this facility was the best decision our family could have made. Our mother was caring for daddy but after three years of non-stop devoted care, mother was the one who's health was rapidly declining. We were so focused on daddy and his dementia that we never considered the toll it was taking on mom. It was hard to separate them but now that we've moved him here, mom is finally able to focus on her health and is once again enjoying her friends and spending time doing things she loved. Daddy is adjusting very well and we can't say enough about the care he is receiving, The staff here have been so supportive to all of us and for the first time in years, we are not worried about either one of our parents as we know both are in a healthy situation. Thank you!
