I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
This facility is so poor it doesn't even deserve a star. My mother in law was living there the food was ice cold many days. When she fell ill the left her on the floor naked by herself 12/1/2015 to attend a staff meeting. Instead of calling a regular ambulance they called a transport company that took over and hour to arrive as the asked them not to come during their staff meeting. The Facility floods when we have a lot of rain and they moved her out of her room and left her things in the flooded room so she was loss. Do not recommend this place to a cockroach.
It is called Orchard Park, and they also have memory care. They put mom in the assisted living, and this is one reason why I chose it because I could move her to memory care if necessary. It has gone through problems, but they are now changing, and they have all-new management. They are very responsive; they take my calls and did visits with me. They listened to my mom, gave me good feedback, and when I've got any concerns, I can address them and I appreciate that. So it has been a learning process for them as well as for us. My mother was very resistant coming in, and they really worked with her, so we've had her come through but it was a really strong battle for a while trying to get her there. But all things are well, and I am very pleased with it. It is outside of the town just a little bit, but it is a very nice facility; they keep it constantly clean. They have a new activity director, and she is trying to add new things in, so she is bringing in lots of new faces to the facility for encouraging, bringing in lots of new volunteers, and things like that. It is becoming a more cheerful atmosphere, while still being very clean and very modern, and it smells really good. And the people seem to eat the meals well -- a lot of these people have lost their taste buds, so it is really good to watch them eat. They just need to refill their beds, and I think they would be exactly what everybody wants.
Orchard Park was a new and a very nice place. They had a lot of activities. They had a separate place for people that had memory problems. They even had a room that had rocking chairs with teddy bears and baby dolls. However, the rooms were smaller and I didn't like that the residents shared bathrooms. Also, it was more expensive.
