I like the fact that the staff at Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest was very friendly and that every single person is going to get their own individual room. What I didn't like was that they would have to share the bathroom. So they would have a bathroom inside, just a regular toilet, and something to clean their hands, but when it came time for a bath they would have to go to another location for their bathing. I checked out their memory care, and at the time that I was there, I could see the staff interacting with different residents, and they were all very friendly and they looked caring and the residents seemed happy with them. I just didn't see a lot of the things in action. I just saw them at one of their activities, and I saw another couple of rooms where they would be doing activities, and it looked like there would be a lot of interactive opportunities for them. They have a salon and a courtyard. I liked the security of that courtyard. They had it split from moderate to some severe more attention-type scenarios. They had their own system of how they were going to care for them. It looked like they were actually going into their own apartment, and I really liked that, because it made them feel like they were going to their own place.

My dad stayed at Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest. They took care of him very well and even took them on some field trips upon his initial arrival. My only drawback to that was it's too far away because we are physically in the city of Chicago and it was more than an hour and a half drive for me to get there. It's more of a studio. He has his own bathroom. A lot of it is in one place. It was small. He needs a small space to have it kind of cozy for his normal function. They have a movie room, a coffee bar, a library, and a barbershop.

My sister's aunt was at Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest. What I like best about the community is the staff that is there. I like the activities that they have available for the seniors. I like the fact that they cook onsite. They have the barbershop, they have the physical therapy, they have the occupational therapy, and they have outdoor options for the seniors to move around in the summertime. Also, I like the fact that they take them out. They go to the movies. They go get ice cream. They spend time with the individuals. They have activities from the morning to just about time for them to go to bed. They're not just sitting in a room by themselves. They're actually in a community setting. They get them involved with one another. They have music time. They have bingo. They have different activities all the time, every day for them. The staff was extremely attentive. Not only were they attentive to all their needs, but they gave my aunt the same type of care they would give anyone else if she wanted her hair combed a certain way or if she wanted to pull on a certain outfit. They were just very attentive to her needs recognizing the fact that she was having memory issues. The programs that we told them that she liked to watch, they went through the TV channels to find out what those programs were. The nurses and the doctors came in and spoke with us. They let us know what was going on. Anytime anything went on with her, they called and let us know. They have someone onsite at all times if anything goes wrong. She loved the food. It's extremely clean all the time. Every time I've been there, it has been clean. I like the security features of the place. It was just great. They cleaned the rooms daily, the outer part, the inside even. When you came in, everything was clean. We've even come in a couple of times and they were clean. They had history. They get up in the morning, they get coffee, and they communicate. They had little singing activities with them. They're not just sitting in a room. They always had them engaged.

Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest was great. The residents were involved in what was happening at the time. The facility was very nice. I liked how everybody was in their own little sections. It's a nice facility. It is not huge. So I think that my father would get a little bit more one-on-one just because they can see out and be able to get to see all the people. The staff was good. They were taking very good care of the residents and they were very enthusiastic.

Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest was very clean and very nice. They're very pricey, but they provide you with everything. The rooms were very nicely kept and furnished. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating, and everybody was happy to be there. They prepare their own food, which is a nice thing, as they don't ship food in. It's very secure. They had a morning activity going on with some of their residents and it was music. They have a newspaper that they publish daily so some of the residents were reading that. The area where the resident's beds were seemed quiet and comfortable. Everything was well taken care of.

Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest was a small facility. My sister's not very sociable and they had this central area for the residents to come and sit, but we thought she would not even be able to go and sit in these areas to just relax, just because of her personality. So, we just felt like it wasn't quite the place for her. However, the young lady that gave us the tour was great and I got a good feeling about what they would provide for her if she were there. They were also renovating the place, so the rooms appeared to be adequate and we had no problems with the physical facility. It looked very nice and very comfortable. I could recommend that someone go and look at it.

I had an in-person tour of Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest. It was very warm and inviting. I thought it was small enough that it wouldn't be so overwhelming for my loved one. The executive director was absolutely amazing and very personable. It was more costly than the other facility. I like that they provided furniture for the rooms. They were standard rooms but could be fixed up to however we wanted for our loved ones, which was very acceptable. They have houses with different patients at different levels. One house was specifically for men, which I liked because that's where my husband would be. I like the separation and that they had people in charge of each house which allowed them to get to know the patients. They do have apartments and individual rooms. They had an array of services. When I was there, they had one meeting going on, and another was a movie. They promote the patients getting to know one another. They have libraries. Each courtyard connects to each house so that they can walk around, yet they can't leave the facility.

Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest was nice. They're accommodating. The room was larger. There was space for my father to get around even with a power wheelchair. The one that did the tour was nice and she accommodated me. My trip is not until September, but I called her in the middle of January and she accommodated me. She even tried to get a hospital bed for him. They did everything to accommodate me as far as making him feel like he was in his own home. The staff told me they had the three meals and the dining area was set up like a restaurant where they had the menu and everything. I liked the layout. It was clean. You didn't smell anything. The air was fresh. The facility was very clean inside and out. The staff was very friendly. I was satisfied.

My mother is in Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest, and she's been there two and a half weeks. It is small, which is fine. I think that they need more staff and more professional staff on duty, like more nurses instead of CNAs or patient care techs (whatever you want to call them). The layout and the structure is pleasant. It's old and needs some updating with the furniture. She's not going to like anything about the place because she has Alzheimer's and dementia. She's not going to give you any positive feedback, because she is not home and she wants to be home, but she can't be at home by herself. They have a library, but it's very small. I haven't really seen the salon or it being used.

Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest was a beautiful facility as far as I was concerned. It's one level, very well-maintained, with beautiful decor. They had little walkways, a community where residents could go out and sit. Just the whole presence of the place, from the time that you walked in to the entire tour of the place, I just felt was beautiful. The programs and everything that they had to offer was excellent. My mom liked it, she just was not ready in time to make that move, and they were a little bit out of our budget, for sure, but well worth it. The staff was excellent in terms of the first impression when you meet them. I met the second time with the executive director, and she was very welcoming and very personable. She seemed to be very much on top of the facility and everything that was going on. She's the kind of person that if you had a question, you could easily reach her, and she did follow up with me. She was just very personable and very engaged with the community. Some of the residents were doing their daily exercises together. At that time, it was near Halloween, and oh my God, the place was so beautifully decorated. The rooms were beautiful. The only thing that they did not have was a bath or a shower in the room. They didn't have kitchens in the rooms, and that could be good and bad. I think more for the safety of the residents, they kept that to where the residents needed, something that they could go to the main dining room and get assistance with, that or to the tub or to the shower area. The rooms were spacious. It's certainly a place that I would highly recommend.

I went to Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest and it was very nice. It was very clean, it was very it also very well decorated. Everybody would seem to have gone all out except for one place put their Christmas decorations. It looked like they had a professional decorator come in and do everything. Everybody was very professional, very nice, very pleasant. I was impressed that the rooms all have a flat-screen TV and were very nice, they all had their own bath but no kitchen. Their dining area was very homey, very nice, I liked it. I got to see the laundry area, the hair salon, the activity area, all of it, and everything they had to offer. In terms of the maintenance, everything was very clean. But the price was too high, otherwise, I might have picked this one, there were no problems with it.

Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest was clean. Everybody was very polite and nice. I got to speak to a few of the residents, workers, and the administrator of the building. They offer several different plans in a sense when I was talking to them. I was stressing the importance of making sure that my mother-in-law was in a place where they had well-trained individuals that could deal with her particular case of having a memory loss. The only thing that I was having difficulty with was maybe finding help for her to be able to afford to live there. They were helpful, they gave me some information, and they gave me some suggestions of where I might go and find the type of assistance that we might get for her. Otherwise, the tour was nice and very informative. There were suggestions for further help along the way. They also told me to come back if I decided to choose that location, that I was more than welcome to come back, and maybe they have help with the finances. Other than that, it was a nice tour. It was very homely, it was like being at home, and that's what I love about that. It's one level. They had different branches for the different types of assistance that you need whether you need independent living, assisted living, or memory care, and I like that particular layout that they had. They have a section for the individuals that may roam a lot on their own, and they have a section for people that can roam and go places and come back home and have no problem. I like that one because it was like being at home. It didn't give you that feeling of an apartment building; this one gave me the feeling of actually walking into your own home.

Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest offered us a respite. My aunt and uncle could do a trial for 30 days to see if we like that one. They had services and they had a newly remodeled suite. It was very nice. They just opened it up a few weeks ago, so they would be the first couple to be in this new facility. So that was a good thing. It was one place that was more intimate; there were not a lot of people. There were probably 16 in that one area, so that was a good thing. The staff was very, very informative and she kept reaching out all the time. It was very clean and they just remodeled. The facility itself was nice.

Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest is a one-level facility. I could not see where the actual units that the residents lived in where, they said because of COVID. I was able to see the wing that they were in the process of getting ready to start a renovation on. There was obviously no one living in those particular units, but I was able to see the dining room area, and the recreation room area. I don't know what I saw, if that was considered memory care or assisted living. To me, it's all the same because it's a one-level location. It's not as though you go on one floor for assisted living and then another floor for memory care. The dining area was nice and clean. The tenants were eating, so they were socializing. The staff was very nice and very attentive. There was an activity going on, and the residents were very engaged. A performer came in singing. There was live entertainment going on. The grounds were very nice, very manicured, clean, and there was no odor. The courtyard was very peaceful and serene. It's enclosed with a private fence. That's what I really liked about it. If they want to go sit outside on their own, they can, and they have the supervision for it. They're encompassed in because of the privacy fence. I was just not able to see an actual residence. They took me in the area that was about to be rehabbed. What I looked at would not be the actual room that my father would live in. Other than that, the director was very nice, very knowledgeable, definitely seeks to understand what your situation is and wants to help, very resourceful, and very, very accommodating. The staff seemed very friendly.

I went to Charter Senior Living of Hazel Crest. It's nice because the staff really assists the clients with their needs. They do activities with them. Someone is always there when the residents go to the bathroom, and if you need assistance with a walker or wheelchair, they have people on-staff to help you. They accommodate you with that. They really treat you nice when you come in, they greet you, and assist you with your needs. They're very professional and very pleasant. They said that they will have two meals a day and a snack. I didn't see the food, but I've seen the dining room, and it's very pleasant. The facility looked so nice.

I like Citadel Estates Memory Care, I like what it does for my mother. It's much smaller so it's good for her and I don't have anything negative about them. The staff is about the business, they're about taking care of the residents. They're handling our residents accordingly, they're safe, the staff cares about their well-being and health.

We visited Citadel Estates Memory Care. We saw single bedroom apartments and a studio that were all well kept. They had daily activities and set up an itinerary to take the people out on a daily basis. It was pretty good. The two people I met were attentive to my needs and polite, so that was encouraging.

I found Citadel Estates for my father. It is good, and I love it. The staff is very patient, very caring, and very concerned. He has a room, which is big enough for one person, with a bed, a dresser, a bathroom, and a closet. They play games, watch movies, and have musicians visit to sing.

The way that Arden Courts is set up, they call them houses. They have 4 houses, and each house is all connected to the building, so you could go in and out of each of the houses. Each one of those houses has 16 bedrooms and a bathroom, which just did not have a shower in it, and I am sure that is for safety reasons, so they have to get showered by the aide; they get 2 showers a week. They do have an activity room, an activity supervisor, and then the aides to perform the activities with the residents. They would do a memory game where they would ask the residents questions. The communication around there is a little vague.

My parent is a resident at this facility. Our family chose this facility based on the ratings and cost. The facility is clean and the employees are nice (lots of turnover of staff). Caregivers, are not very skilled to support memory residents as a whole. Activity Director(s)??-Consist of watching tv shows, trivia questions, (asked of people that are asleep) and wasting paper and money on a daily newsletter that no one reads. In a nutshell; the food is fair and the residents are clean and safe. They are not as proficient in the area of memory care as we would like.

Arden Courts is beautiful with wonderful landscaping, and the residents can go outdoors. They have an excellent, friendly, and patient staff. The rooms were beautifully decorated with furniture included, so you don’t bring anything except yourself and clothing. It has an excellent location and great security. I highly recommend it for those with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s.

I went to see the Arden. They were for memory care, and they are OK. All the places that I went to, the staff were excellent because they want your business. They all have individual rooms and individual bathrooms. The only thing I didn't care about is the hallway which is kind of long and dark. It wasn't a really bright and cheerful place as I thought. It was a place I was thinking of putting my mother in. The people were eating, and the food looked decent on the table. It didn't look like mush or anything, but I didn't taste anything myself. The dining room has little tables of four with tablecloths. It has china plates and real silverware. Each table has a little centerpiece on it like you would have in your house. They were doing something with music like a twister game on the floor. I couldn't figure out how these people were going to do the twister on the floor. I think they were throwing something on the floor once she says the color. Other group was watching Wheel of Fortune. As for security, you have to buzz in and buzz out.

My father was at Arden Courts of Hazel Crest for two weeks. They were one of the firsts to respond to my call, they were one of the first places that I looked at, and I was just very impressed. They had four different units, they had caregivers on each unit, and I just like the area that it was in. I like that it was just one level. They had a little breakfast area. It was very clean, and the scenery was nice outside and very calming. The staff were very caring and attentive. They knew each of their residents and their needs. They had activities going on all the time for the residents. They play games, watch movies, and go out within the confines of the facility and walk around. Once a month, they have support groups for the other family members so they too could meet other family members and develop a supportive network. I would definitely recommend them.

My sister was impressed by Arden Courts and the convenience of the location for the drive made us decide to choose this place for my dad. The rooms were spacious. My dad was there for only four days in total though. When he arrived, they couldn't handle him so they sent him to a psych ward the next day and he stayed there for 3 weeks. When he came back, he fell and broke his hip so he was hospitalized, had surgery, and a week later, he died. We felt they were not equipped for dealing with his dementia. We sent them a letter but they have not responded. I would not recommend this place.

Although my mom didn't stay long at this facility, the facility was really nice. The atmosphere was very warm and there was quite a bit of outdoor space as well. The security was excellent as residents can roam around freely without loved ones needing to worry about them wandering away. Unfortunately my mom deteriorated quickly after going to this facility and really never had the opportunity to become really well adjusted there.

I had my parent here for a 2 week respite and although it was hard for me coming from our home, all in all the staff was good and friendly. The food was good and after a few days getting adjusted we were managing it o.k. Depending on your seniors needs this place is definately worth a look. They have a great layout - they have 4 seperate "homes" (wings) that each have a living room, kitchen, dining room for the residents so it has more of a home like setting. The main area has the activity rooms. The residents leave "home" for the activities. The activity coordinator was doing a great job keeping everyone engaged. Like anything, just make sure to check and double check things are understood and happening as they should in regards to meds, etc.
